I see many posts about chocolate fountains but they do nothing for me.

thank you! I thought I was the only one. I think they are a chocolate disaster. The chocolate splatters all over the guests, the table the floor... I think the seafood is elegant and different.

I am often afraid to post my opinion on chocolate fountains for fear of getting reamed. I think they are nice in theory but could be a breeding ground for colds and disease. Not everyone is as couth as you'd like to think they are.

I agree 100% I originally wanted to go with a Chocolate Fountain, but after seeing two different events with them included and people dipping their fingers into it, it screamed VOMIT, SICKNESS, and DISGUST.

Now, I personally hate seafood, but it shows how anti-Chocolate Fountain I am.

I however, LOVE LOVE LOVE Chocolate Fountains. I voted for it, not only becuase I am getting one, but because I think it will be appreciated more. The Seafood Boat comes out at cocktail hour when there are hords of other foods and inevitably there will be tons of leftover seafood and it might be a waste. Chocolate Fountain comes out during cake and coffee and unless you are getting a huge venetian hour to go with it, it will be the main event, used by most of your guests and will be very welcome with coffee and cake. JMHO!

I agree. I think more guests will notice the fountain as an extra and will be commenting on how great it was.

Did you see the post on BHB about the bride who went to the wedding at Chelsea piers and saw a man who dipped his finger in twice? And here I thought I had to worry about a kid doing this. There is always ONE person who messes it up for everyone.

I did read that, and I laughed to myself. Never fails, no matter how classy people are, there's always one in the group that manages to be disgusting.

I can't eat the chocolate
So I picked the seafood boat.

Thats a hard call......I think that the fountain is awesome .....i guess it depends on what your choices are for your coctail hour ...

but i did vote fountain

I loved the idea of the choc fntain but when I saw it at a showcase it was not what I built it up to be.

AND I LOVE SEAFOOD!

I love both!!!!!! This is a hard decision!! I voted for the seafood boat. I love chocolate but I can see the fountain getting dirty and taking away from dancing and the wedding cake as the main dessert. I know there's already a lot of food at the CH, but I couldn't pass up the seafood boat at a wedding.

I am a big fan of Chocolate. However, I do appreciate Leslie's concerns with the double dipping. I will certainly have my Maitre D police the CF.
