I can't believe it but the church we had booked renovated and it looks terrible! I was there today and left cring. I won't even get into what they did bc if anyone else is using them and likes it I don't want to offend.
Anyway it was a Lutheran Church as I am Lutheran. FH is Catholic so we are in search of another church near JT (basically within a 15 minute drive or so)
So here is my MOST important question!! Can I a confirmed Lutheran get married in a Catholic church without having to convert. I would be more than happy to get married in one as long as I don't have to give up my religion.
Anyone with info please help!!

Re: Church EMERGENCY HELP!!!!
FH is a baptized and confirmed catholic, and i'm christian, not baptized or confirmed....and we're getting married at st. pats.
they said as long as 1 of us a baptised catholic, its ok. we were even given the option to have a full mass, since FH has been a member of the church all his life (we opted out of it tho). our pastor did have to go about it with us labeled as an inter-faith marraige....not a fan of that part, but whatever.

Oh my gosh Shauna that is AWFUL!!!! Don't cry though - you CAN get married in the Catholic church!! I took my FOCCUS 'test' on Saturday and there was a section for interfaith couples so they definitely allow it. You will find a place. How about Matt's parish??
To answer your other question... donations vary. We have to pay over $1K.

One: Yes. you can get married in the RC church since Mike is a confirmed catholic.
My church's 'donation' is 800.00.
St. Edward's in Syosset is pretty lax, and I'm sure they'll marry you.
There's St. Brigid's in Westbury too.

Yes you can get married in a Catholic Church if you are another religion. However, a lot of churches will ask you to sign this document, basically stating you are another religion and I **think** it says something about raising your family Catholic.

i know St. Catherine's in franklin square (my church - if you want pics, let me know - the donation i think was right around $600) will marry you if you are a non-parishoner - the priest who is doing my ceremony told us that.
there is also St. Thomas in West Hempstead, Holy Spirit (straight down Jericho Turnpike) and Notre Dame, both in New Hyde Park

Re: Church EMERGENCY HELP!!!!
yeah, you can get married in a catholic church. my FH is baptist and i'm catholic so I had to sign something saying i will raise my kids catholic but he didnt have to make any promises. I even told my priest when i signed it that we've been going to a lutheran church lately b/c thats the only 1 we found in Virginia that we liked and if i had a kid today i would at least get them baptized catholic but in 5 years from now that might not be the case. He was cool with that answer! Hope this helps!

Yup, the 'permission slip.' We had to do that. There is a section about raising your children Catholic, but FH and I left that part blank and didn't sign it and we still got our approval to get married.
Oh and Joanne - Shauna's FH is Matt....mine is Mike

Thank Lau- Yea I assumed they vary. No biggie about that though. Matt's church is all the way in Hampton Bays and to go all the way east to head all the way West would be insane!! His original church in NJ where he grew up is STUNNING! I wish we could relocated the whole church here! LOL
Thanks again

Good to know! I have no problem signing something that says I am not a Catholic I don't know about me signing to promise I will raise them Catholic. If Matt had to sign it fine or if we couldleave it blank even better
Oh and Yupp he's a Matthew, not a Mike

I was going to suggest this church but I heard if you are a nonparishioner they don't let you book the church until 6 months before the wedding. Not the end of the world but something to consider.
