Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

So here is the update: So far I have went to over 10, yes, 10 halls in the last 3 weeks (FH was a good boy, never complained-Jericho Terrace, Floral Terrace, Verdis, Chateau La Mer, Russos, Siricos, Leonards, Fox Hollow CC, Crest Hollow CC, Woodbury CC, Westbury Manor & I passed North Ritz).

And we really like Leonards and Crest Hollow. Besides being the best price of all the places we have visited, we just fell in love with both halls. The only bad thing is that you can't taste food at Crest Hollow and 75% of the wedding will be Italian and its very hard to please them, LOL. We did do a tasting at Leonards and we liked it a lot...HELP!!
I'm not sure which one to choose...I need your advice on these, as we've never been to these halls b4 for an event....
THanks!!!
JH

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

I went to a wedding this past summer at Crest Hollow and the food was very good.

I've never been to Leonards so can't help you there.

My advice would be to go with the one you really liked. We visited a lot of places, and I found that when we saw the one, I just had this 'this is it!' moment. If you truly can't decide, visit both places again, maybe bring a good friend or your parents to get some opinions on both. Maybe they'll bring to your attention something you missed. Good luck!

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

I got married at the Crest Hollow...
I think there's a difference b/t the CC and Leonards. What type of wedding are you having? (Church, or service @ the hall?) Do you have time to go and have pictures taken? What kind of pictures do you want?
From what I know, Leonards is GORGEOUS, but doesn't really offer grounds outside to take pictures?

The Crest Hollow does not do tastings b/c they have so many events. I was so hesitant regarding this that they told me if it was going to be the deciding factor, we'd work something out. I know that they did say they had never lost anyone due to a lack of a tasting. The food was really good- hard core critics in my guest list too.
The thing that got me was their grounds. I didn't care that there would/could be more than one wedding at a time.... but that's just me.. I couldn't afford one that only had one wedding at a time.

Take these things into consideration and I'm sure your decision will be a little easier.

FM me if you have any questions.
-Michelle

P.S. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

I agree that Leonard's really doesn't have the beautiful gardens in which to take pictures. So I'm having a problem with that, because I want really nice pictures.

As far as the food, Leonard's is mostly italian, and you can incorporate all sort of ethnic foods in the cocktail hour. I'm not sure about the other place...

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

I took a bunch of pics outside Leonard's. My suggestion would be to go to a park if you want garden pics with a whole lot of trees/florals.

Aside from that, DH and I excluded all of the halls that wouldn't do a food tasting. It was just too much of a risk for us to take- we had relatives flying in from Italy, so we needed to make sure that they were going to at least have a good meal!

edited to add: the guests from Italy STILL rave about how great the wedding was! The food was phenomenol, the atmosphere was wonderful and our pictures look AWESOME- all 1200 of them!

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

Isn't there a garden area on the side of Leonards?

We also went to a park but only b/c we wanted pictures from 2 different locations.

I think you need to go to each hall and pick what room you would like it in, since they both have so many. That could be one of your deciding factors.

I had only good experiences at Leonards.

Let me know if you have any questions

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

I would recommend Crest Hollow. Haven't been to both, they really don't compare to each other in terms of service. Plus, Crest Hollow is just nicer and bigger and you can't beat the cocktail hour by the pool!

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

were doing crest hollow...Leonards was (for my taste) way too flashy with the gold and renaissance style

crest hollow was more subtlely classy and i loved the pool and outside areas for pictures

Plus, they will be decorated for the holidays on my wedding date

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

CHCC was my first choice, but they cost $20 more per person and wanted us to guarantee 40 more people. Crest Hollow looks amazing with the ppol, gardens, and entrance driveway. But it definitely want worth the extra money, in my opinion.

The food at Leonard's is really good. I don't know about Crest Hollow.

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

You can't go wrong with the food at Leonards, particularly if you have that italian 'off the boat' background. I personally like the scenery of Crest Hollow with the food of Leonards.

Food and music is most important to a reception.

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

Leonards is CLASSY and beautiful. The food is outstanding and the service is AWESOME. Been to weddings at both and Leonards won out by far IMO.

I have been working with Servio at Leonards, he usually only does corporate event planning but he is handling my wedding. He is so nice. And if you have 'off the boat' family he is perfect. He is 'off the boat' himself. He has the cutest accent and even breaks into Italian at times while talking to you.

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

I've heard that the food at Leonards is not that great, but that is just rumor as I've never been there myself. I've been to Crest Hollow and loved it (my prom and my sister's wedding were both there). I know that they don't let you taste food and that *****.

A few years ago(not sure how many), Leonards reputation was not as good. They have new owners now, and the food there is excellent. I'm not saying that b/c my wedding was there, I'm saying that b/c I ate it and my guests/family said it was excellent.

I also had my prom at Crest Hollow and went to someone elses there also.

I was not impressed by the place at all. It depends on the person, Crest Hollow was just not for me.

IMO the food does not compare to Leonards.
In all fairness I was at Crest Hollow about 6-7 years ago, and at Leonards 5 months ago.

The decision needs to be made by the bride and groom. You need to feel 'this is the place' when you walk in.

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

Thank you all for your posts!
I'll be happy for more!!
So now that I got the price lowered at Crest Hollow to the same price at Leonards, I'll have to make a decision, since the prices are basically the same.
We are taking out parents there this weekend.
It sux that they don't let you have a food tasting at Crest Hollow, but maybe they will, if that's the deciding factor to have it there or not.

P.S. If we decide to go w/Crest Hollow, is it rude to stay at Fox Hollow that nite?? LOL

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

I would have to pick Crest Hollow. maybe that is because I am a little biased. As far as the food tasting at Crest Holloe, insist that you want to taste the food. we did and we were able to come in for a food tasting.
