I went with my girls to order their dresses this weekend at Davids in Westbury. I dunno what it was, but EVERY single person that worked at that store had such an attitude and did not want to help anyone. I understand its the weekend and its busy, but come on, a little customer service!
So after having a bridal consultant roll her eyes at me and yelled at me for not seeing a bridal consultant after asking her if there were any free dressing rooms, my BP and I proceed to go buy the dresses. We are standing on line where there are two registers. One guy was helping one bridal party while the other chick was chatting with her friend on the phone. The guy yells at the girl 'yo, get off the phone and help someone!' She yells at him 'I will do whatever I want!' (nice, right in front of customers) She then ***** her teeth and goes 'NEXT!!!'
Chick is still on the phone when she asked for my name and wedding date and after I told her the date she said 'Hold up, wait when are you getting married?' I tell her 7/3/09. She then tells her friend she has to call her back (finally)
She asks one of my BM for her name and size, proceeds to order the dress and print out the receipt. I took the receipt from my BM to double check bc I dont trust this girl since when she was taking my info she was on the damn phone....and of course she screws up.
The chick ordered the wrong dress for the wrong wedding. Turns out there was someone with the same first and last name (first name was spelled differently) with a wedding date on 7/3/08!! Had the chick gotten off the phone, listened to me spell my name and verify my number (i have a very common first and last name) and not just assume that the wedding year was a typo, then maybe we wouldnt have had that problem. Since my BM already swiped her card and had to do a return, the money doesnt get re-deposited right away, so my BM couldnt order her dress. Waste of a trip.
One of my BM did actually get to order her dress, so when the receipt was printed, my BM asked the chick when the dresses would be in, she proceeds to just point and yell, 'There.' My BM jumped at the way she yelled.
I am seriously thinking of just getting BM dresses from another store bc I cannot take the attitude. I am so afraid and nervous that the dresses will be all wrong. I double checked the receipt and made sure it was the right dress and color. We will see what comes in...
OK my rant is over ( sorry so long)

Re: David's Bridal Rant!
I am reading some of these comments and even though they are truthful, there are MANY girls who got dresses through them and I think we should be mindful of that....

Re: David's Bridal Rant!
I happened to be at DB this weekend and agree that it was a madhouse.
However, my major complaint was not with the staff but the other patrons of the store. I was there to pick up my dress. Obviously I tried it on, and as I was standing on the pedestal talking to the sales person (who has been nothing but fabulous) some rude and trashy bridesmaids STEPPED ON THE TRAIN of my gown. They (yes there were multiple girls who did it) didn't even try to walk around it. I mean, maybe they thought I was trying on a sample dress - but that is still totally not okay to do. Who does that? Normally not a 'zilla', I immediately turned around and snapped at them to get off my dress.
Anyway, my only complaint about DB is that my dress came in 4 months early which means I had to find a place to store it. Since I live in Manhattan, there's no way I can keep it in my apartment so I had to make arrangements to keep it somewhere else.
I'm still not sure if I should return to David's for alterations. Does anyone have any experience with their alterations department?

Re: David's Bridal Rant!
It seems like David's is hit or miss. Many places are like that. I HAVE to use them because I have bridesmaids and flowergirls spread out between 8 states.
I've never had an issue while purchasing there as a bridesmaid.. I've never done alterations through them though.

Agree, it seems to be hit or miss. I went to one in PA to show my FMIL the dress and they were sooo sweet - but then again everyone is once you leave NY :)
I also have bridesmaids in different states so it was a very convenient option.
Also, you get what you pay for. The prices at David's are so low, you are not paying for the excellent customer service that you get at the more pricey salons!

Re: David's Bridal Rant!
wow.. they must be a bad corporation to work for because I have never have a good experience in any of the DBs! I have been to like 3 and every time its the same story - nasty people who dont want to help
Edt to add: you should go to RK Bridal... you will probably find a cheaper dress and the are at least nice in there

Re: David's Bridal Rant!
I second Rk Bridal. Since I ended up NOT getting the dresses from DB, I found the dresses that I liked(by impression bridal) and took my girls to Village Bridal. For my niece in GA, I gave her mother the style# and she took her to a bridal store there and ordered the dress. Also, since my sister couldn't get her dress with the other girls AND she lives in the Bronx, she ended up going to RK Bridal and ordering her dress through the NO Frills program.
Everyone has their own experience with dealing with anything. I was only speaking from my own personal experience. If going to DB is the only thing you can do because of your OOT BM then so be it. But just know there are ways around that. There are bridal stores all over. You can pick a designer and style and find the closest store to your girls that carry them. That's exactly what i did with my niece and everything has worked great so far.

Re: David's Bridal Rant!
i have not had a problem, and have been to the one in westbury many times. everyone has been nice and i've had a great experience so far, although i hear so many complaints about them all the time. i can say though that i only go during the week and it's always dead and everyone is very helpful, i have never gone on the weekend.

WOW ok I just started this rant bc I was really shocked at the lack of service and the attitude I received. Ask anyone who knows me, but if I can toot my own horn right now, I believe I am very nice and didnt give anyone an attitude. I used to be in customer service so I know how it is. Its very hard to brush off that last b!tchy customer you just had and slap a smile on your face and help the next person, trust me I know and I always did it.
Like I said, I have been there for other peoples weddings in which I was a bridesmaid, and had absolutely no problems, hence why I was shocked and started this post. I am even more shocked to hear other people's horror stories at the same place.

hate that store. I refused to go there. I've worked too many weddings and seen so many DB dresses fall apart during the night. Cheap, overpriced crap.
If I were you I'd try to cancel the dress order. You can find dresses comparable in price from nicer lines and better stores.
their dresses fall apart?
a girl's strap broke once but the major problem with them seems to be dresses with pickups.. I've seen pickups fall out! (bridesmaids dresses, not wedding gowns)
Oh boy! I have gotten quite a few dresses from there and never had that problem.

yes that can be the case, but many times people dont want to actualyl work to earn their pay check! they don own the store, they dont get anything besides their paycheck for doing their job so they do it half @ssed and that is BS, these are big important moments to people.. do your job or get a new one!
Many people have had wonderful expereiences with DB and others havent. Mine was OKAY but nothing to brag about. I walked in and no one approached me to help me, i had to hunt someone down and then when my dresses finally did come in, they NEVER called me, I happened to call because i was visiting my cousin soon and wanted to bring her, her dress, that is when i found out they had come in.

Re: David's Bridal Rant!
I went there a couple of weekends ago to look for bridesmaid dresses.
Well, they gave me ripped dresses to try on. The girl that was helping me seemed annoyed. As we are walking to the fitting room a bride had come in with her bridal party to pick up their dresses and they started freaking out and got loud because half of the dresses were dirty and davids bridal forgot to order on of her bridesmaid dresses... Now thats a big mistake.. i walked right out

That's horrible they acted that way.. I've only been to the Davids in Paramus and one in Westchester and thankfully the staff was helpful and friendly.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Everytime I have gone there I haven't had one complaint. The girl I worked with and will only work with is amazing. I got my dress and all my BMs there. I would make a formal complaint.

Re: David's Bridal Rant!
As far as I know, David's Bridal has a no-return policy, but check the back of your receipt to be sure.
I got my dress at David's Bridal in Carle Place/Westbury (near the source mall) and the service there was great. If you decide to return, go to that one and ask for Luana. She really helped me out!
Good luck! If you can't return the bridesmaid dress try to sell it on ebay or another 'once worn' wedding website. It seems people get most of their money back for this kind of stuff.
