Which one do I really need to buy? For example, I'm pretty sure the RH owns a cake cutter so that's just an accessory. Is it wierd not to have Church programs or not to have anything for the guests to throw?

Re: Do I really need these things?
You don't really NEED any of those. Rice/birdseed/bubbles are all optional. Toasting flutes and cake cutter you can probably get from your RH. You don't need a cake topper, you could just do flowers. Unity Candle is up to you - I'm not doing one Programs are completely optional but nice to have so people know who your BP is Cardbox - you might at least want to get a collecting bag so you have something to put them in.

You don't need any of them...the only thing i'd suggest is the card box only so you have a place to put the cards you receive!! You want them safely tucked away somewhere so none of them go missing. You can get one at Michael's for $20 (less if you have a coupon)

Re: Do I really need these things?
of all of the things listed i think the unity candle is the most important.
i personally think a card box is the least important.
the toasting flutes & cake cutter r really extras thing that people buy to keep as a memory. like i plan on using he toasting flutes every years on our anniversary.
many people display their cake topper in their china closet, however after ordering like 15 & not liking any, we are just putting flowers.

Re: Do I really need these things?
IMO its personal preference. There are SO many inexpensive options you can find at numerous stores, so to me doing all of them was worth it!
1. Rice/birdseed/petals or bubbles? I purchased my bubble wands super cheap at a discount store.
2. Toasting flutes I used nice crystal flutes I owned already.
3. Card box Made mine
4. Cake Topper Made mine
5. Cake cutter I used a set I had at home, check with your venue to see if they can provide one for you.
6. Unity candle Made mine from an inexpensive pillar candle from Dollar Tree.
7. Programs To me I felt it right to acknowledge the people taking part in our wedding. My church offered to print a simple bulletin like program free of charge. I thanked them kindly for their offer but declined. I made my own as another DIY project.

No... you dont need them...
the one I would recommend is the card box or just anything to keep the cards in... because theres gonna be a butt load of cards given to you, its just easier to have somewhere designated to but them or something to hold them!

Re: Do I really need these things?
Thanks.. I guess I'll definitely get the card box and I'll ask my RH about the cake cutter..
that would be funny if we got up there to cut the cake and were like ohh WE were supposed to bring a cake cutter? Oops!

I don't know what half those things are on your list but I definitely don't plan to spend money to have them at my wedding.

How important are these things?
1. Rice/birdseed/petals or bubbles? - Not Necessary at all.....just adds a little to the pictures I think. Most weddings Ive gone to, I forgot to grab what theyre passing to throw.
2. Toasting flutes - RH should have flutes for you! Not necessary!
3. Card box - I thought this was unnecessary but the girls on here said that it was being that you dont want to have to worry about watching your cards the whole night, ya know. I got one and Im happy I did!
4. Cake Topper - Not necessary either.....Im not getting one. My florist is just adding flowers =) simple and elegant IMO.
5. Cake cutter - RH has this as well. Not necessary unless you want the cutters for keepsake.
6. Unity candle - I think unity candles are for more religious masses which Im not having....This is your call.
7. Programs - not necessary at all IMO.
Which one do I really need to buy? For example, I'm pretty sure the RH owns a cake cutter so that's just an accessory. Is it wierd not to have Church programs or not to have anything for the guests to throw?
See my opinions above HTH!!!! and good luck!

Re: Do I really need these things?
You dont NEED any of those. Its more of a personal preference. Heres what I did and didnt have
Bubbles - I had them and it rained on my wedding day so almost noone blew bubbles
Toasting flutes and Cake cutter - had these and totally forgot about them so they never left my house (but glad I have them now for my china)
Card box - I had a cage which did come in very handy
Cake Topper - Didnt have this either - ours was ribbon made out of fondant
Unity candle - Made ours (now its in a box under my bed)
Programs - wanted to make them and never got around to it
