I find I am starting to wish I had picked something else. Yes, I picked my ring. It's a beautiful round solitaire on a cathedral w/g setting. But I am wishing I had chosen some side diamonds.
I have suggested in passing to my Fh that I add some diamonds to the side and he seems a bit sensitive about it.
Am I the only one here? Am I wrong to want to change a ring that I picked? I feel so bad about this.

Re: Does anyone regeret their engagement ring?
The ring is a symbol. When I first got my ring I went through stages of loving it and wanting to change it a little. Now, after having worn it for about three years, I would NEVER change it. Its a ring that my DH bought for me and the meaning behind it is much more significant that any other aspect.
I noticed that you are not married yet. Maybe you could get a wedding band with diamonds in it? I know a lot of people who do not have diamond baquettes in their e-ring, but have diamonds in their wedding ring and it looks very nice.

OH, well it's good to see that there are a couple ladies who aren't jumping for joy over their rings.
edit: Beck,y our wedding bands do have diamonds on them, so hopefully that will enhance the e-ring.
Someone I know suggested that I wait until our first anniversary and then I can add some side diamonds to the ring if I want.

Re: Does anyone regeret their engagement ring?
I guess it really depends on your personality. I too picked my own setting and had a major say in the diamond itself. I love my ring not only because its beautiful, but also for what it represents. Then again, Im DEF the emotional type. But I stray away from what I really wanted to post. When my cousin first got engaged, she was given a small round solitare. She didnt like it and eventually upgraded to another ring. She confided to me that she now misses her old ring because it had so much sentimental value and now she no longer has it. Her new ring is EXACTLY what she wanted, but she's not happy with it. She regrets getting the new one. I would say to hold on to your ring and after the wedding, see how you feel about it. You may grow to love it!!!

I just told FH what metal and shape of a diamond I preferred. He did very well. My diamond is not the biggest or brightest in the world, but I could never change it, nor do I want to.

I feel the same way. I only told my FH that I wanted an antique setting. The ring is exactly what I wanted and a little bigger than I expected. I wouldn't change a thing.

I love my ring, just wished it came with a matching wedding band. Its a marquis (sp) center stone with 2 more marquis on the side then 2 baggets on each side. It was very hard to find a ring to fit it. I found one, it looks good now. Hopefully it will be perfect once they size them.

This sounds like us exactly ! DH knew I wanted princess cut, he knew I wanted white gold .. but from there, he picked it out (and designed it) himself.. Even if I could upgrade to a 5 carat perfect rock, I wouldn't trade my ring for anything

I don't think that getting a new setting is not really changing the ring that much. You would still keep the diamond, which has the most sentimental value. My mom has had to change her setting 3 times because it wears out over time.

You're very lucky. Unfortunlatey my FH thinks a yellow gold, pear-shaped diamond (like the one on Sex and the City) is ok.

I picked out my ring too. I love it, but I am not crazy about my wedding band. I got one to match his & it was suppsoed to be thinner, but they talked me out of 4mm & 5 mm looks just like his 6mm & looks wierd with my e-ring.

Re: Does anyone regeret their engagement ring?
Before my fi bought the ring, I went with him to a jeweler and showed him the type of ring I like. I sometimes feel I might like a different setting but, for the most part, I love my ring. It's pretty simple (with small diamonds on the sides) but that's what I wanted. No matter what, I would never change it. Ultimately, my fi picked it out and proposed to me with it. I don't know whether he would be sensitive if I wanted to change it. If he were to be sensitive, I wouldn't want to hurt his feelings and I would leave it as is.
As some one else posted, you could get a wedding band with diamonds.

I kind of think thats OK too - Doens't Jessica Simpson have a pear shaped ring - I got to pick my ring. I went through a tiny period of not liking it because it wasn't bigger than everyone elses... Now I'm really ashamed of that because its beautiful and actually I sorry that I ever felt that way. Everytime I see it - I always think of him, and in that way - anything would have been great.

Me, too!
But I do kind of regret even getting a ring b/c I feel like it was kind of a waste of money and I'm not really a jewlery person. I go through periods of that though. Sometimes I think it was a waste of money and other times I love it and say well it wasn't that much!
