Re: Ever been to a really BAD wedding?
Never been to a bad wedding because I dont know what 'bad' means...Bad food...well not their fault and I'm not one to make comments, some peoples bad food is others good.
Cost..well thats plain ridiculous, cant say that someones low cost wedding was bad
I hate these threads, they are funny yes, but I just hate thinking about the negative in someones else's most important day, no matter how funny, I'm sure it meant a lot to them at that day and I wouldnt want anyone to ever 'laugh' at my expense.

Re: Ever been to a really BAD wedding?
how about this?the priest my DH and I had counseling with DID NOT SHOW UP for my ceremony. So the Monsignor had to fill in. And of course, then my programs were incorrect and it was OBVIOUS that he did not know us! Imagine my surprise when I walked down the aisle and saw a priest I had never met before.

Re: Ever been to a really BAD wedding?
I've been to 3 weddings where I actually leave STARVING!! Those, to me, are the worst. You don't have to have a lavish affair, but make sure your guests eat!! LOLI do feel horrible for the brides that had horrible things happen. My heart goes out to them.

To save money they did not have a photographer at all. Just cameras on the tables. THEY MADE MIX TAPES for music, no band, no dj. no real wedding cake, they got a sheet cake from Costco (cost $47 dollars). NO ALCOHOL because she was a recovering alcoholic and the food (lunch time meal) was finger food and no hot dishes.
I saw the pictures. Guests were crammed into a three season porch to eat. They had those porch windows with the leevers (sp?) that my grandma had on her porch back in the sixties. 'Dancing' took place in another room that had paneling on the walls from the 70's.
The bride did not wear a slip under her dress and her dress was right off the rack and wasn't altered. It didn't hang right on her.
Total cost for the day $2K. I guess you get what you pay for as it lasted only 2 years.
Not everyone can spend a lot of money on their wedding! My friend probably paid less than 2000 for her reception and it was considered a FABULOUS WEDDING by many!
2K doesn't mean bad! And that was cheesy to say! So many other thigns make up a great wedding besides the money you spend!

Re: Ever been to a really BAD wedding?
Yeah i don't see what the price of a wedding has to do with how long the marriage lasts. That's totally messed up. I was at a bad wedding 2 weeks ago. I reviewed it on NWR, so you cna search Philly wedding was in the title. It ddn't bother me so much that it was cheap, but that they tried to pass it off as something it wasn't, and that pissed me off. i also HATED having to stand for the cocktail hour..we were crmamed in like sardinge,s couldnt move, food ran out..I was NOT a happy camper, lines too long at the bad, dancefloor too croded once we were in the reception room, shoddy service, etc etc... Standing for th cocktail hour was the worst. i'm disabled and there were many elderly people there and it isn't far to ask them to stand for that long. Even if there were few seats (there were a few, all tkane by elderly people), like some peopela rgue its ok to not have enough seats at CH cause people mingle, it's embarassing if you have to ask someone tog et up because you need to sit b/c you're disabled. ANYWHERE we book it's going to have fuklk seating at teh CH in the contract.

Re: Ever been to a really BAD wedding?
i went to a wedding in Newport, RI- which i thought would be really nice at Ocean cliff one of the mansions. Anyway -the bar was cash before the cermony - i think from the time you tell people to be there it should be open -the wedding was outsde- except that it was getting cold - they also took a group pic - a little annoying to force people to take a group pic - felt like my senior pic in highschool of my whole graduating class - anyay the cocktail hour was outside- and it was freezing - to go inside you had to walk around the building and go in the front door - it would have been nicer if we could have gone in and out -
there were way too many speeches so the wedding never got any flow and no one was really dancing

Re: Ever been to a really BAD wedding?
I'd also like to sya i went oa wedidng where the CH was cheese and crackers, the centerpieces were just roses ina vase, the favor was one cnady bar and all the dresses were off the rack and it was one of the most elegant and classy weddings I've ever been to. You don't have to spend a lot to have a great wedding.Sometimes it's like the bumper sticker I almost put on my Jr igh Riva;s locker.. 'it costs a lot to look this cheap.'

Re: Ever been to a really BAD wedding?
I would just like to add that my cousin spent about 60,000 on his wedding and the food sucked, it was way too crowded and the band was sooo annoying that a bunch of people spent time in the lounge rather than the reception hall! And this hall is considered one of the best of the best

Re: Ever been to a really BAD wedding?
OMG I toally know what you mean Oct.2004bride.I used to think that $$$ is what made wedding sbeautiful and for a time considered not having one until we had serious $$. But now that its said and done..money helps but I have learned from watching others that its the company you invite to share your day that makes or breaks a wedding.
One of my (ex) coworkers had a beautiful wedding at a hall in long island that is very very popular too. They had gold chairs and everything that is elegant but the people didnt dance. Alot of people left early because the drive was too far out and some complained abou the cuisine. So it goes to show that $$$ is not everything. There are other factors involved..you could have a perfect setting but a bad DJ. Or so many other things. But what I hate are CHEAP WEDDING..not in price but where people have the $$ and try to do it inexpensive yet register for the most $$$ things under the sun and invite those who they think will give $$$.

I Agree 100%! Yeh ya gotta invite fuddie duddies (just kidding
) But the people, the fun time, the dancing and laughing are what make a wedding GREAT.

Thats what i HATED about the wedding I wentto last week. It was 'black tie optional' the ivnites were very formal and classy and I thought it was going to this elegant affair. They really tried to pass it off as an expensive wedding. We got there and it really wasn't anything so great at all.
ANNOYED me because I spent a lot of $$ to live up to the 'black tie' and the formality I thought the wedding would ahve and not even the families were in black tie...it really pissed me off.

Re: Ever been to a really BAD wedding?
My in-laws went to a wedding on a boat. They were packed in like sardines and couldnt move. The bride and groom were on another floor of the boat and my in laws got to watch the dancing and stuff via a monitor. Oh and they ran out of food! My in laws did not get to eat. The waiters gave 2nds and 3rds to the people on the top level of the boat (where the bride and groom were).

Re: Ever been to a really BAD wedding?
I hope my friend's fiancee isn't reading this, but...my friend's fiancee planned the whole entire wedding, pretty much. Well, she made up the invitations. Had them printed... THEY SPELLED THE GROOM'S LAST NAME WRONG! I mean, HOW do you not notice that when you're proofreading the invites before they get sent off to the printer?! The best part (worst part!) is that she SENT THEM OUT TO THE GUESTS THAT WAY!!!!

Re: Ever been to a really BAD wedding?
I think what makes a bad wedding to me is when the bride doesnt make you feel welcome and wanted at her wedding... I mean I could overlook the food, the sucky DJ, the small dance floor, sitting in a corner and not being able to see anything... but sorry I cant overlook her not coming to talk and acknowledge her guests... and since the wedding was in June I would like to point out that I still have not received the thank you card... I drove 8 hours for this wedding, I know I will sound like a bi!ch but I wish I took the money out of the card... if the bride doesnt want to be at her wedding, why should I care about her day? I am getting pissed off just thinking about it

Re: Ever been to a really BAD wedding?
I have one word for your girls...Oklahoma.
Don't go there. They are strange. Thier weddings are strange and you will leave very hungry because a few mini quiches and some cheese is all you will get. Also no alchohol, or soda, or juice... JUST WATER. But they are from the bible belt and their Toasts include a lot of hoping 'that the bride and groom glorify the lord in every day of thier married life and walk in the light of Jesus's path.. AMEN!'
