Fire Island Wedding??????

so FH's parents have a house on Fire Island, specifically Davis Park which you take the patchogue ferry too. this is a very quiet part of fire island with only one restaurant The Casino.

FH has suggested that we change our venue and have the wedding at Fire Island. Not to sure how i feel about this but I am willing to look into it as we both love it there.

Has anyone been to a wedding here? does anyone know anything about arranging a wedding on fire island?

We are not into Ocean Beach or anything else b/c it's to far west for us!

Any suggestions?

Re: Fire Island Wedding??????

I love Fire Island but only know about Kismet bc my uncle lives there all year round. He rents out places there all throughout the summer. I thought of this at one point but there are only two places to get married there which is The Inn and The Out.

Re: Fire Island Wedding??????

Yea you def would have to do it in the summer months to have it there. I think it would be nice to have it at a restaurant there and then have a steel drum band!! I love that idea!!

Re: Fire Island Wedding??????

i love this idea! the place looks super cute too. if FI means something to you guys, i think it makes that extra special.

you'd have to look into ferry times though or see how expensive staying there in the summer months would be... pictures on the ferry could be quite cute too.

Re: Fire Island Wedding??????

I think its a great idea, but where would the guests stay? renting houses can be pricey in fire island.

Re: Fire Island Wedding??????

we wouldn't really need somewhere for people to say as most are from the same area as the ferry. We would be able to charter the ferry as FH's parents are good friends with the owners and also know the restaurant people. they have owned their home for 16 + years and go over every weekend, even in the winter! sometimes they are the only ones on their part of the island in the winter time. we went once with them in the middle of February and it was spookey!

Re: Fire Island Wedding??????

I think it's an amazing idea but if i were you i would contact some vendors you were interested in to make sure they're not going to charge you any crazy fees to bring their services to FI. I mean for like flowers, DJ/band, photographer - they all have to get on and off of FI just for your wedding so they might charge you some crazy fees or have to stay the night just to accommodate your party.

Just something to think about but otherwise I think it is a GREAT idea.

Re: Fire Island Wedding??????

if we did it at fire island, we would prob use one of the dj's or bands that frequently does shows at the casino.

flowers we're pretty lucky, i think we're using FH's aunt's sign otehr's shop.

Re: Fire Island Wedding??????

Hiiii !! I'm brand new on here...

I grew up on Long Island but live in California and am trying to figure out how to have a wedding out there.

We are of course wanting a beach wedding.... I'm going to throw this out there and see if anyone has any ideas of if this is even possible!

Wedding ceremony on Fire Island, place like Surf's Out in Kismet for ceremony only.... reception in Babylon at Venetian Yacht Club?? Would that even be possible??

LOVE that I found this for some feedback!

Thanks so much and congrats to everyone!

~Melissa
