FMIL DRAMA CONTINUES......update

So I go to check my email before going to bed and I find this email from FMIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Guy and Jenna,

Getting very close to that very special day….this is a very important day in my life too…..my first born Son is marring the girl of his dreams….I only wish George could be here but we all know he gave his Blessing years ago and will be watching from Heaven. Looking forward to that special dance with my son to the song the three of us chose….so appropriate for us.

I haven’t had the chance to speak with you as I realize you are all very busy and don’t want to bother you. I need to know some things so I can plan ahead for myself.

The time of the church rehearsal and the time and place of the rehearsal dinner as I am looking forward to and will be attending both. I would only like an invitation as a keepsake but it is not necessary.

Love you both,

Mom

AM I INSANE.....TWO MONTHS AGO SHE TOLD ME SHE DIDN'T WANT TO GO (as a way of getting out of paying)

EDITED TO ADD: SPECIAL DAY FOR HER?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!? I TOLD YOU SHE WAS OUT OF HER MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ladies, I wrote FMIL a reply to her email

Just wanted to let you know, that in light of recent issues that we had with the
church as far as scheduling conflicts, we are no longer having a
rehearsal or rehearsal dinner. We are having a quick 15 minute
rehearsal the night before the wedding with only the bridal party having to
attend.

This is actually true, we're trying to save $$$$$ so we're just having some of the BP back to my house for dinner, but not EVERYONE is invited, so we're telling some it was cancelled, it's really not a big deal and in the long run, I want my parents to be comfortable and not stressed, so it'll be fine, I'm looking forward to getting through the next month in one piece, HOWEVER, FH did talk to her and of COURSE she tried to weasel her way out of what she said by saying she didn't mean it like that and it was misconstrued... I think it's a lot of cr@p!!!!!! Another time she's caught talking sh!t, and another time she tries to turn it around on someone else!!! She said she was gonna call my parents to apologize, and my parents said they wouldn't take her call, the damage has been done and they don't want to have anything else to do with her.....I dunno I just want this to end!!!!!!!

Did you write her back? I would of written back... 2 months ago you didn't want to come. Depending on how nutty you wanna get you can even say conveniently that was just about at the time of payment. Now that that part is over with you want to come again?!??!?!

She's like the mother from Everybody Loves Raymond!!! HAHAHAHA!

I was thinking of saying the following: since you want to know about the rehearsal dinner time, I can ask you, where YOU plan on hosting it, since it is the responsibility of the grooms family!

So sorry, they do love the drama! Unfortunately I think I have some of that coming my way soon. FMIL doesn't know that her new husbands name is not on our invite.....FH's father passed away a few years ago and I just didn't feel it was right.

My grandmother is as much of a pain in the a$$ as this woman seems. I sometimes daydream about tranquelizing her! Hahaha! Not to harm her... just to knock her out sometimes so she either shuts up or gets nice!! She can be sooo mean!

Passive aggressive much?

Sometimes you just suck it up and go with the flow...

sorry she's being all wishy-washy about things. It does sound like she genuinely wants to be there and will enjoy being a part of it. I don't know why she'd mask it in the whole 'it's important to me' and 'i want a keepsake' otherwise... but you know her better than I do.

My advice is keep peace in the family and ignore the drama and just do what you can afford if you can afford to include her.

Good luck & i hope it works out!

I would send her an email as follows:

I'm so sorry!! Of course I would have sent you an invitation already, but you had said two months ago that you would not be attending, so I didn't. I'm so sorry I didn't know you would be available that day and willing to attend! Please let me know if you will DEFINITELY be attending, because I have to provide final numbers to the venue, and since finances are an issue (we hadn't budgeted for the Rehearsal Dinner - I wasn't sure how that worked- I should have confirmed the details!), we would need to know as soon as possible. But I'm so glad to hear you've changed your mind and will be joining us.

Put THAT passive aggressive in your pipe and smoke it.

Of course, this may not help the situation. Who knows. Either way, please keep us updated- for some reason, I'm hooked on this story like a soap opera!!! Best of luck, Jenna!!!

Re: FMIL DRAMA CONTINUES......

I do have to say, though, that in the first paragraph of her email, I get it when she says it's an important day for her, too. That's true and honest. And I feel horrible about her husband passing away, and the part about dancing to the song was very touching. And the 'girl of his dreams' part was nice. I just think the last paragraph hits you on the head with passive aggressiveness. I wanted to be fair and make that point. However, I do not know this woman, and for all I know, the 'important day in my life too' comment could be nasty as well- I don't know if it's a dig, or if it's just honest. But I do agree that as the mother of the groom, it's an important day for her. I just think her 'way' is making life difficult for the two of you going forward. Best of luck- I really hope this all gets resolved peacefully.

That doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to the next installment.

Re: FMIL DRAMA CONTINUES......

She totally sounds like my FMIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night they must have all gotten together and though of ways to make us have nightmares because my FMIL sends me an email last night saying that she is planning her tables (she invited 30 people and told us she would be paying for them) and that she figures she would have 5 tables.. and one of those being only half full so I have to put 'fun people' at that table so then she proceeds to tell me that she is sitting at her daughter, SIL and grandaughter's table .. which also happens to be my BM, GM and FG!!!!!!!!!! UMM HELLO, we are having a bridaly party table and a parents table and thats it!!!

Re: FMIL DRAMA CONTINUES......

Hi Ladies,

FH is supposed to talk to FMIL today, let's see what happens, should be INTERESTING....

Just wanted to clarify,

I know the first part of the email sounded sweet....HOWEVER...as Suzanne pointed out, it's her way of getting her digs in, she was not close with FFIL and when he passed it seemed like there wasn't much love loss, but that's neither here nor there, point is this, I know it's his mom and I respect that, but that in no way, shape or form, gives her the right to talk about my family and get away with it, I told FH if she wants to come to the RD (and have another free meal on my parents dime) she needs to call and apologize for all of the rotten things she's said, simple as that!!!!!! Now I'm sure she's gonna try to turn it around on other people like she did in February, but 7 people who said the same thing don't strike me as liars. So I'm up to with all of this, I've been physically sick all day, and just can't WAIT to see what happens tonight, I'll be sure to update you all!!!!

Re: FMIL DRAMA CONTINUES......

Jenna - I don't think the first part of her email sounded sweet at all. It was obviously a passive-aggressive dig. The part about dancing to the song that 'the three of us picked' come on!

I really wish you a lot of luck with her.

This a passive-aggressive masterpiece and I wholeheartedly second its use for situations like this.
