so i found this hotel, that is brand new, and i think we can say here at the end, just for 2 nights though. www.boraboraspa.interconti.com

they give you this:

Bora Bora Honeymoon - On making a reservation at the InterContinental Resort and Thalasso Spa Bora Bora for Honeymooners and when you mention “Honeymoon” on the reservation document as well as on the voucher, guests receive these special complimentary gifts on the day of arrival:

Tropical flowers arranged in the bedroom and bathroom of the bungalow
A half bottle of champagne on ice
We also offer :

For a minimum stay of 4 nights, a Polynesian jewel for Madam and a Tahitian gift for the groom
For a minimum stay of 5 nights, a pareu, a t-shirt and a cosmetic bag 'Algotherm'
For a minimum stay of 10 nights, a Romantic dinner for two with a half bottle of champagne, at the Reef Restaurant
These gestures from the resort are cumulative.

WHAT IS WITH A HALF BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE???????? your spending thousands, and they cant give you a whole one? ***?

Hahaha They think those are 'gifts'???? I can get my own bottle of champagne.. sorry HALF bottle... for $2!!! And most all resorts will decorate your bungalow if you are a honeymooner.

But, that hotel does look amazing and it's BRAND NEW just opening in may of '06!!

Who has been or going for their HM? Which islands? Where are you staying?

Me:

1 night Tahiti Intercontinental (garden view room)
4 nights Moorea Pearl Resort (beach bungalow)
4 nights Bora Bora Pearl Resort (2 nights garden pool bungalow & 2 nights overwater bungalow!)

Do you mind FM'ing me what you are paying? I was looking into the Sheraton for Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora.... just curious how prices differ. Thanks!

I booked through Claudia from Pacific For Less click here . She was great! FYI, she is based in Hawaii, so there is a time difference. But she is very prompt, very informative and got us a great price.

In my research, it seemed like Tahaa was the most expensive of the islands to stay on.

I agree... Clauda from pacific-for-less.com was SO great to work with and she had the lowest quote by far!!! But we ended up booking with Liberty travel b/c they were able to price match. Good luck in your research and FM me if you have any questions or need info!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

I never did a review but ...we stayed at

Sheraton for nite of arrival...i think everyone does this....

Intercontinental BeachComber Moorea (4nites)(beach bungalow...dont stay in overwater here...not as nice as bora bora)

LeMeridien Bora Bora (4nites)(Premium overwater bungalow)...this hotel is on the Motu surrounding the main island and SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO amazing...you have a direct view of the beautiful main island...

You HAVE to visit Bora Bora...we met couples who thought it was too much to travel to two islands...it is So worth it!!! The packages are good (shark feeding and jeep excursion....they were alot of fun and all we needed for sight seeing)

The food is kind of pricey...but i would say that room service is a better deal for breakfast and lunch...so you dont have to do buffets for $30 each.
Im going to try to attach a photo....from Bora Bora...happy planning!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

You guys, i need some advice. Basically for the same price (with what we want to do) we could stay for 4 days in moorea, 4 days in an overwater in bora bora at the new Intercontinental, then come home with 3 days left over before we go to work, OR........

do 4 days in moorea, 3 days at the bora bora novotel ( an intermediate size/type room), and then 3 days in an overwater bungalow at the new I.C. in Bora Bora, and we would get home late on Saturday afternoon, leaving us one day to recover to go back to work.......

What do you think? FH wants to come home earlier. I think this is the one chance we have to take a 2 weeker so why not live it up? I dont know, having 3 days at our new place will be nice too........

Thats a tough one.

On one hand- you really want to live it up.

On the other hand:

Your flight could get delayed, and you could end up missing a day of work. (this has happened to me twice, so I pad my trips with an extra day when I can.)

The jet lag is going to be AWFUL. You may need an extra day just to reset your sleep clock.

Personally, I'd keep the trip short. I like to be prepared for delays and not rush right back to work. Plus, you'll have loads of laundry, pics to print, souvenirs to give out, etc. let us know what you decide!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

i would say that the seven days is good...ten days seemed more than enuf time when i went. Plus, when i got home, i had a very bad back from the flight. I would say rest time is good.....the flying is tough. We did the direct flight...which i would recommend...BUT the key is to steal the empty seats and lay out and stretch!!! We only caught on for the flight home...and were able to sleep. Also...bring a neck pillow or a regular pillow. I know its a pain to carry...but worth it!!! I wish someone told me that :)

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

I am still trying to get different quotes and figure this all out. I had someone possibly get me a connecting flight thru LAX and would get us home on a friday afternoon...but i would rather do the direct flight. So its either 9 full days & 9 nights w/3 days at home, or 11 full days, with 1 day at home before work.........
This is so hard!!!!!!!!!!!

We're doing 9 nights... the price went up A LOT for the extra 2 nights. Plus, we wanted that extra time at home to get back on track before going back to work!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

I think we're going for the 9 days. 11 is a lot, and i dont want to break the bank. It will be nice to have a few days at home before work to go through our gifts and stuff. I think 9 days relaxing in paradise is enough, right? Not like there is Soooooooo much to do there.
I can't wait! Thanks for your opinions girlies.
