Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Is it worth going to La Villa Mahana for lunch? Do they even do lunch?

They are booked for dinner the entire time we are in Bora Bora.

We already have reservations for Hotel Bora Bora bbq. That's it for reservations in BB.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

i just got back from tahiti today...

honestly, if you are on the fence about Villa Mahana, then i would pass. Our bill was $400 and the food was good, not our best meal. the restaurant is nice, but nothing great. the restuarant keeps its doors open and baby lizards and worms are on walls and floor.

hope this helps.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Wow $400 for dinner! I heard it was less expensive than that! We have been told it's about $250-300. Did you have an expensive bottle of wine? I have been to other tropical places and have seen geckos (little lizards) all over in lots of restaurants and hotels. They eat mosquitos and are friendly, so I'm not worried about that.

Am looking forward to hearing about your trip too!

thanks! evon

WOW - what did you eat/drink that made your bill so high?
Our bill there was $285 and it was by far our favorite meal of the trip. Didn't have a problem with lizards. Everyone is diff. though.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

What is Villa Mahana like? Do you order off of a menu or is there a tasting/sampling menu?

My FI is a very picky eater and we have reservations at villa mahana -- for girls that have been there: what did you order that was good?

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

I had the rack of Lamb and my Husband had the Filet migon. We enjoyed the whole dinner experience that night. The Food, The Wine, The Table and of course the Company was very good.

I hope you enjoy your Dinner as much as we did.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

We ordered the set dinner menu because we wanted to have variety... we ordered the Discovery and Royale.

We both loved 'em. We are going back on May18 and have a reservation for the top table...

yummy!

we each had our own appitiezer, a 1/2 bottle of wine and it wasnt the most expensive bottle and we shared dessert. we thought the meal was good, but we said we would never pay that much for that kind of meal again because it wasnt anything 'special'

my favorite meal was on Moorea. it was either the Mahi Mahi Thai Style at the Moorea Pearl or Fettucini at Alfredo's. I am big Fettucini fan and i honestly thought theres was better then any i have had in awhile.

my dh favorite meal was prob at bloody marys. they had some kind of tuna that the chef said was 'one of the best kinds if you know your tuna' so i didnt know much about it.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

I don't think there is a fee as long as you didn't make your final payment but I would definitely check with them. We had to add a day to Moorea and switch our days around when they canceled the Monday direct flight and we weren't charged anything for that. Just had to pay to add a day to the trip. I would definitely check with your agent though.
