Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Girls, where can you buy those water float things? How much did you pay for them?

I saw a few at the grocery store the other day but I didn't think it was high quality enough? Maybe they are functional even if it's cheap???

Where can you buy cute water shoes?

I've gone to the mall but only see Crocs and other flip flops. I don't want to order online. I want to try the shoes on.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

I got my float things at the drug store for about $3. I am sure they will be good enough to just float around the lagoon for a few days. My sister in law just got water shoes at a sporting good store. They should definitely have them there.

When you guys mention floats, you meet the long mattress things you lay on top of on the water, right?

The ones I saw were a texture and color I didn't especially like. I guess I shouldn't be picky about this stuff.

Yes I mean the long mattress thing. Something like the picture on page 34 of this thread. I think maybe a sporting good store might have something with better quality.

Thalasso is all booked! How sad is that! we were so close! damn! I feel bad b/c my fi had planned the whole hm as a surprise and he feels like he disappointed me! he said he wants the best for us and was totally down for upgrading to Thalasso and getting rid of ta haa.
i feel horrible and spoiled.

so we are prob. going to stick with our original itinerary which is still amazing!
and since we are not doing Thalasso, i dont think we will be disappointed with le Ta haa...

i find that many brides that went to Thalasso and then Ta Haa were very disappointed...

i think we will be fine!

thanks for everyone's help!

aw I'm sorry - that stinks it is all booked.
You will be fine though - your itinerary is still amazing! You'll love it!
And girls I am finally onto the last section of my review....just finishin up Tahaa and hope to post it with pics later today or by end of the week!
It's VERY long and VERY detailed! Hope it doesn't put anyone to sleep!

cant wait! the longer the better!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

For those of you who have flown Tahiti Nui before, how is the entertainment on the 12 hour plane ride?

Do they have individual tvs for each seat with a broad selection of movies?

I'm trying to decide if I want to lug my laptop or portable DVD player. Personally I don't but I will if the entertainment on the plane is poor.

I got really cute water shoes at Lands End's website-the link is a few pages back on this board-EvonM originally posted it. They are so comfy and so cute. Not sure if their products are sold in stores-have you looked at like EMS or Sports Authority?

If you go to their website you can look at the entertainment they offer-each seat has a TV and from what it says a selection of movies to choose from.

Air Tahiti Nui is awesome.........As you board the plane, you receive a flower......Then they come around and give you this little bag....inside each bag is a headset for movies(they play 8 different ones continuesly & have video games-everyone has their one tv.....They also have a station that tells you your altitude, speed, with a map) sleeping mask, ear plugs, wash cloth, and a pair of socks...
Soon after that they come around offering drinks.....and they are all free!!!!soda, wine, vodka, whatever you like.....there are two full meals given.....and they walk up and down offering more fresh bread........the staff change cloths midflight and wear pretty polynesion dresses....you will not be disappointed with that flight...... you might want to bring your dvd player anyway b/c there is only one american tv station in bora bora(cnn) HTH

Fantastic! I won't be bringing my laptop/dvd player on the plane.

Is it safe to assume that each bungalow will have its own DVD player? At the rates they are charging, they BETTER at least have a DVD player!

We are staying at Intercontinental Tahiti, Sofitel Moorea, and St. Regis Bora Bora.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Most of the places that we checked on had DVD players. I know the St Regis does! They even have butlers! It looks so beautiful! We couldn't afford it but I think the Thalasso will be really nice too. I just checked on the websites for the hotels about the DVD players. Most of them have explanations of what is in the rooms. We aren't bringing our computer or DVD. Too much weight and I really don't want to haul that stuff around.

QUESTION: Just trying to find an underwater housing for my digital camera! Anyone found any good ones, reasonable?

best, evon

My fiance was looking for a water case for our camera. They are expensive. I think around $200-300 for just the case!

We decided that we are probably not going to take that many pictures actually inside the water so we are getting a waterproof disposable camera.

You're better off buying a brand new waterproof digital camera vs buying a case for an existing camera IMO.

I've heard tahaa is very secluded, not necessarily better water. everyone always raves about how beautiful bora bora is. i haven't gone yet so i can't speak from experience.
