bora bora pearl had a dvd player, but we didnt bring any movies with us....

the only english channels there are CNN, an occasional movie (but usually an OLD movie that you wont have interest in) and moorea had cartoons in english...everything else was french...

Thanks!! Just added DVDs to my packing list-not that I plan on watching much television-if you know what I mean

haha
dh and i are the type of people that fall asleep watching tv, so that was our biggest problem there bc nothing was in english..hahaha

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Just wanted to let you ladies know that Target has a pretty good selection of floats for cheap. I THINK the quality is a bit better than the ones that I saw at the grocery/drug store.

Target also has water shoes if anyone is interested.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Hi BrideX:
Thanks for the info on the underwater housing! My research shows they are really expensive as you say. My fiance thinks it is worth it, as he is a shutterbug, so I guess we are getting one! He says the disposable ones are only good to about ten feet and the lenses are plastic. I've seen alot of good pics with them though. I'm going to let him have to carry it :)

thanks again! evon

Honeybunny:
Oh shame about the Pearl OWB being all booked up! I think you should go to Tahaa and keep the garden with pool at the Pearl. My thinking is that it will be great to see more than one island. I am sure you will be able to be in the water alot in Bora Bora and the photos of the water at the Pearl look beautiful. I saw my TA's pics of Le Tahaa, and the water looks beautiful! I can send you the link to her blog photos of the place if you want. Don't know if I can post it here so send me a message and I'll send it to you via FM.

best, evon

ok ladies, this is annoying! We booked a garden bungalow in Bora Bora at Pearl, we were thinking of upgrading to an OWB but they are all booked!

the only hotels with owb avail are hotel bora bora, bora nui, and st. regis

should i cancel the tahaa trip and stay in an owb in bora bora for 4 days?

is the water in bora bora similar to ta haa?

Hi...you know how I feel since I went from Bora Bora which was my favorite place on earth to Le Taha'a...and we were let down by going to Le Taha'a last. The water in Bora Bora when we were there was 100 times more beautiful than the water in Tahaa...but I've been told there was hard rains the week before we arrived in Tahaa and that caused the water to be a little dirty while we were there...we didn't even go in the lagoon water in Tahaa b/c it was so dirty while we were there...big black things floating around which I've been told are sea cucumbers. We only went in the pool there...never swam off the deck of our OWB. So if it was me - I would def. look into upgrading on Bora Bora to the Nui (out of all your options I think that one is nicest - Hotel Bora Bora is great too but they have no pool) to an OWB and passing on Le Taha'a. But it is totally up to you guys. I mean at the Pearl on Bora Bora - you can still go in the lagoon water even though you're not in an OWB. Are you in OWB at Le Taha'a or beach villa???

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Not all hotels have DVD players in the room but most of the newer ones do. Thalasso and St. Regis definitely do. I stayed at Le Taha'a and they have them available - they can bring it to your room and hook it up if you want it - but you have to pay a deposit on it I think.
Intercontinental Tahiti did NOT have a DVD player.

Honestly though girls....we were at Thalasso for 5 nights so we packed a bunch of DVD's thinking we would def. watch them all since there isn't much nightlife there. Don't go overboard packing DVD's - we watched 1 and that's it. You are going to want to spend your nights just sitting and relaxing on the decks of your OWB's! And...it's your honeymoon! It's like I say about books and games...don't bring too many b/c who wants to be reading on their honeymoon There's a lot better things you and DH will want to be doing if you get my drift

As for the floats - you do not need a high quality one at all. Mine was $1.99 from walgreens and it was perfect!
Water shoes you can get anywhere - Target, Walmart, a Sporting Goods store.

As for entertainment on Air Tahiti Nui - you can check exactly what movies are playing on your flight. They list them on their website - check closer to when you are going though b/c they change every few months or so. We had new movies that were still in the theatre at the time. Only like 2 or 3 to choose from though.
I'll be honest - I watched 1 movie going but was falling asleep thru it. And never even used the TV at all coming home. I read on the plane and listened to my ipod - ate and slept! It goes a lot quicker than you think it will. I was surprised I wasn't even using the TV at all.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

I just wanted to let you future FP honeymooners know that FH & I went to d i c k s Sporting goods in roosevelt field today & each bought a pair of watershoes for $7.99. They are so comfy & I love them. They also have a good selection of snorkel sets. If anyone is interested, this is located on the second floor of the mall.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Quick question about water floats! Which ones are you guys buying?? All the ones i saw were the ones where you pretty much need to PUMP air in instead of blowing it in! They were also pretty big and bulky (especially the ones were you can lay on!). Please let me know!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

I bought floats at Target. They are not very bulky - can easily fit into a side pocket of luggage. I bought one for fiance and he thought I was silly for buying one. Then I showed him this thread with the pics and he called this a wedding cult. hahahahah

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

hi lades thank you for your help everyone! I know i've been going back and forth constantly but we are going to stick to the original itinerary and
we are def. going to do Le Tahaa- i am really excited i cant wait

i just have a question that i need a lot of advice on from past Tahiti travelers!

What should we do:

Plan 1
1 night tahiti
2 nights moorea
4 night bora bora
3 night tahaa

or

Plan 2: ( our original itinerary)
3 night tahiti ( we would do a day trip to moorea, and the other day we can explore tahiti and get ourselves adjusted)
4 nights bora bora
3 nights tahaa

is it too much traveling if we knock off two days in tahiti to go to Moorea 2 nights instead?
or should we stick to the original plan by staying on tahiti for three nights- allowing us to visit Moorea for a day trip and allowing ourselves to get adjusted to time, and site see tahiti?

p.s we really dont have any money to extend our trip - extending a day in tahiti or moorea is not an option...

Our TA agent highly recommended going to Moorea over staying in Tahiti. (We also wanted to do the day trip to Moorea). We are doing 2 nights Tahiti, 2 nights Moorea before we go to Bora Bora.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Definitiely moorea - to answer the above question. u dont need more than a night in tahiti. we cant wait to go back to moorea!

Ok on moorea we ate at

Le Sud- good food French/tahitian flair, walking distance from the Pearl

Alfredos- Italian - u must have the fettucini alfredo, that was closer to the sheraton, the car picked us up at our resort

Alto Pizza- we had them deliver to the hotel and we had a meal in our robes! It was delicious pizza- better than alfredos

breakfast/lunch - we went to a patisserie- ahhh i cant remember the name of it, but if leaving the pearl, u would make a right out of the resort and it is literally 20 steps to the patisserie. we had crepes for breakfast and lunch- and have hte ice cream it is delicious there. and VERY cheap.

We ate lunch once at the sheraton, it was good..
We also ate dinner at the Pearl once or twice, i cant remember and it was delicious.. The bar food is good for lunch- the french fries, salads and burgers.. yum!

On Bora Bora, the only time we left the restaurant for dinner was to go to Bloddy Mary's. Highly recommend it- DELICIOUS.
