I got a quote from claudia and spoke with her over the phone. She was very helpful. I took all the quotes I got on line and brought them to our travel agent we used for other trips and she was able to price match.

DH & I were going to book with her & we had been communicating with her for a couple of weeks regarding our HM. We then had the same exact itinerary priced at liberty travel & it actually came out cheaper by about $200.

Also, I don't want to scare you but you should think some things over before booking something so expensive & distant without using a TA in the states (claudia is based out of hawaii)

Here is what happened to DH & myself on the morning of Sunday Sept 30th, the day we were suppossed to leave to go on our honeymoon....
DH & I left our hotel at 5am to leave for the airport. Well, when we get to the airport, he couldn't check in with his passport. He had a valid US passport that was about to expire in 1 month. Turns out the laws for tahiti are that you can only travel if your passport's expiration date is 3 months or more of the departure date. We had no clue that this could happen. We weren't able to leave for our HM that day.

We went to our TA as soon as they opened at 10 am & our TA had to re-book our entire HM .. flights, transfers, hotels, dinner reservations.
It was DH & my fault as we should have done research but our TA felt so bad that he upgraded us to the top bungalows in both of our hotels.

In our situation, we were so lucky that we booked with liberty. We were able to speak to our TA on a SUNDAY at 10am.. had we gone with claudia, we would have had to wait until monday to hear back from her & the time difference between the US & hawaii could have been a problem for us when communicating with her.

You just never know what will come up, whether it be a death(God forbid) or a bad passport. And with a trip as expensive as tahiti, you wouldn't want to risk loosing any of that money.

The liberty travel that I used was in queens.
I'm sure that any liberty travel is fine. I'd just go to the one closest to your house.

We used a Liberty Travel in Rocky Point to book our Honeymoon.

In case you haven't read my majorly long HM review with tons of Tahiti pics....I needed to use our travel insurance as DH's dad passed away the week of our wedding. We simply could not fly half way around the world at a time like that and had to cancel and rebook our honeymoon for a later date.
So take it from me - for a HM this expensive and so far away....use a travel agent and make sure you get the trip insurance...b/c like someone said you just never know. I never thought I'd need it and there I was 6 days before my wedding calling my travel agent frantically finding out how to cancel and rebook our honeymoon b/c of this death in the family.

its hard to recommend prices for 09, when rates change every year, Im getting married in 08, and my TA has been updating me on rate changes, so you can have an idea of what your looking at but be prepared for those rates to go up

As the person above said, it's really hard to tell you what you will be paying as the prices constantly change. I'd say a realistic range is anywhere from $8,000 - $12,000
I used a TA in bayside, queens, you can FM me if you'd like his info.

For all the girls who are going or went to Moorea - where did you stay (or where are you going to stay)? We're trying to decide between Sofitel, Pearl, Intercontinental and Sheraton...

TIA!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

We were scheduled to stay at the Pearl when we went to Moorea.
But the week we were to stay there, the workers went on strike. our reservations got transfered to the Sheridan

We Loved the Sheridan.

We stayed at the Sheraton and loved it.

We stayed at the Pearl while in Bora Bora. It was great, so the one in Moorea must be great too.
