Ok, my wedding is a Friday evening in October. The ceremony is at the reception hall, so there is no travel time between.. which do you think would be best?

I would do it as late as possible this way your guests have plenty of time to get out of work, go home & get ready, then get to the site (if they aren't taking the day off) and then you'll have plenty of time to do photos before the ceremony without having to worry about losing daylight.

My cremony is at 4:30 ckt hr at 7:00-8:30 res. from 8:30 to 1:00. 4:30 is the earlient time my church wil do the wedding and the hall wont start any eariler that 7:00 so my times happen to work out perfetc. I think 6 cer. is perfect for you!

You should have it the earliest at 7. People work on Fridays, so hopefully the people who can't make the ceremony won't need to take the day off because they will be able to make the reception. I had to use up a vacation day last month because we had a wedding that started at 6:30 on a Friday, and it was in LI and I work in the city, so that was annoying to use up a vacation day.
But I was able to still work and just leave a little earlier for Friday wedding a couple weeks ago since it started at 7:30.
Oh, I wouldn't worry about ceremony time. Mine's going to be at 4 on a Friday. But cocktail hour starts at 7:30. Some people are just not going to go to it anyway whether it's early or late, so I wouldn't worry about that.

ceremony 6:30 7pm 7-8pm cocktail hour then reception 8-12am that is for my wedding my times!

I've been stressing about this too- ceremony @ 6 or 6:30 and cocktail hr at 7:30. (I'm considering extending cocktail hr to 90 min. )The church and Hall are about 15min apart.

I'm glad I'm not the only one worried about this! I think I'll stick with the original plan (5:00 ceremony, 8:00 cocktail hour, 9:00-1:00 reception). Sunset that day is at 6:00 so I'll try to catch some quick outdoor pics at the church and look for an arboretum or something for the rest...Thanks ladies!

woah.. even at 42 a peice after my vote (6 start time) i know a person starting at 8 church... i didn't know what to think at first but whatever makes ya happy, go for it. either way, people will come

Our church is at 5:30 and our hall is about 20 minutes away our cocktail hour is 7:30 - 8:30 and our wedding ends at 12:30 and we are doing all our pictures before the church aswell.
