Getting Nervous for '08 Wedding...Will I get there?

Getting Nervous for '08 Wedding...Will I get there?

We've seen 8 or 9 places so far and they've all been either too expensive, completely not our style or there were just one or two things wrong w/ the facility.

I'M SO FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is the wedding hall supposed to 'hit' me like the wedding dress is? I'll know it when I see it and I'll be wowed or are some people just taking what's good enough?

honestly, my rh hit me more than my dress did.. i went there nd loved it but then heard about all these other places so i dragged fh to those places.. ad each one i compared to crest hollow.. the lobby isn't big like CHCC.. the room doesn't have mirrors like CHCC.. on and on.. CHCC has higher ceilings..

on and on and on

when u find it u'll know.. r u going just anywhere? or places within u'r budget? like i knew i couldn't afford woodlands so i didn't bother.. lol. same thing with north ritz..

what are you looking for in a hall? and have u looked in long island weddingssites and services before u went out? if u need a copy i have one u can have..

you will find it!! Me and FH knew right away when we saw our RH .. it was like ok yes i can def. see us getting married her.. it was the first place we went to.. so we got really lucky maybe everyone here can help you narrow it down.
Do you know what kind of place you are looking for? on the water? A City view? lots of gardens?

Do you have a set price range you'd like to stay in?
What places have you seen already??

I'm sure everyone here can give you some great ideas!!!

yea i did a lot of research on prices for the halls before i went.. i knew exactly what would be around the price i wanted.. and i didnt bother with the others cause i didnt want to get disappointed when i knew i couldn't afford it..lmao

Ideal Wedding: around $100pp (180 guests or so), something classy not gaudy, not out dated, nice grounds - on the water, gardens, fountains - just something pretty for photos and ceremony, bright reception room - clean, simple, good food (OF COURSE lol), great service from staff.

I would love a late Sept/Oct/early Nov Saturday or Sun afternoon wedding, obviously Sat. night would be awesome!

Am I asking for too much!?!

i dont think u r asking for too much at all. My hall..chateau briand comes to about 100 after tax and service % for a friday in nov, and i have about the same size guest list, they dont have a lot of outdoor grounds though.

hmm...have u looked at fox hollow? scotto bros like chateau..they have excellent food too.

larkfield manor maybe...

Swan club prices are excellent and they have beautiful gardens...

Not sure how much Jericho terrace would be.. but it's amazing there...

westbury manor? woodbury CC.. or crest hollow..not really sure if they are in that price range.. but they may be for nov. esp. if you do a friday or sunday...

thanks..what i loved about it was the decor.. it was very art deco 30's or 40's feeling.. and thats pretty much the theme i envisioned that old Hollywood elegance! That's also kind of what drew me to FT though.. knowing it was an old movie theater totally made me love it!! i def. agree though.. if you fall in love with a place u can make it work!!!! Chateau was slightly more than we planned but they gave us so much and we knew we got that WOW feeling when we walked in so we had to have it..lol

The way I knew that the RH I picked was it, was me comparing it to every other hall we went too. I researched places on here and the web. I think you will find something, Just keep looking and it will happen!

actually i did get a similiar feeling getting the hall and when i got my dress..i just knew..we walked on the dance floor and saw our first dance there..honestly the best way to decide is figure out where you see you and fh dancing your first dance, cutting your cake..etc.

I saw it and I did like it. There were a few things we didn't like but overall it was beautiful. I think it's still on our list.

The other other one I saw was Coral House which has a gorgeous room - the Americana. We weren't thrilled w/ the CH areas. The outside was really nice but seemed like it would be too small for 180. But the Americana was SOOO nice!!!

We also looked at Douglaston Manor, and a few places in New Rochelle (VIP, Greentree (my fav but expensive), Beckwith Pointe). DM was reasonable and pretty but we weren't wowed. The ones in New Rochelle were all nice but expensive for a Sept. wedding.
