Im going to be taking a cruise this summer, for the first time* either to the Carribean or to Europe. I was told that I dont have to get on a plane and fly to somewhere else to get on the boat and that the boat leaves out of the NY harbor, is this true?
Has anyone taken a cruise that left from the NY harbor?
Are cruises scary? Is there alot of motion? Im sure there is a ton of things to do on it to pass the time...TIA!

Re: Girls that have been on cruises before.....
Cruises are great I have been on many.
Yes cruises leave out of NY.... the leave out of every big city basically....
They are not scary at all!!! Yes you feel the motion usually not bad though unless you have bad weather. I have never taken a cruise out of NY, although I have heard ones out of up north here are more rocky than leaving out of the south (ie miami, puerto rico). I have never done a Europe cruise though i would love too!! If you have anyother questions feel free to ask

Re: Girls that have been on cruises before.....
i left out of a port on the hudson in NYC- carnival. it was good because you are on the water for like 2.5 days going south to the caribbean and it FORCES you to relax. what happened to us though (and this is not to scare you) was that there was a huge hurricane in the port that we were going to so they rerouted us and it was really rocky ride.
so dont go during hurricane season and take Bonine with you. its like dramamine but it doesnt make you tired.
edited to say: it was a really awesome trip and i definately recommend it!

Thanks!! Im not scared of the water or to fly Im just curious. Its amazing to be on the boat traveling for 2 + days, must be really cool.
Do boats for Europe leave from the city?
When is the best time to go on a cruise?
Are there any cruises that are all inclusive?

yes, cruises from NYC go to europe. but they dont come back. it takes about 1 week to get to europe (england, italy, spain)...but if you want a roundtrip, you will need to book a cruise from europe to NY.
cruises for the most-part are all inclusive. the only thing not included is alcohol, tip/gratuity, and any extra off-the-boat activites you want to do.
GL!

i heard they are great though but i have heard people advise to not go on one that leaves out of NY cuz the waters can be choppy over here.

I left on a cruise for a bunch of places in the Carribean out of NY years ago. I loved the cruise so much!!! Lots of fun! I love the food and nightlife the best. And you don't really feel the boat at all. Except we did one night and it started rocking cuz we were in rough seas.

I've been on cruises that left out of NYC. Personally, I find the days at sea to be BORING! But, that is just me. There is stuff to do on the ship; plenty of it actually, I just get antsy.

Cruises do leave out of NY. My parents went to the Bahamas with Norwigean and left from NYC. I have been on 2 cruises. I love them and think there awesome. You dont feel like your on a ship at all.

There is only one that leaves out of NY and goes to Europe that I know of...and its VERY expensive! Your best bet will either be Royal Carribean out of NJ, Carnival, NCL or Princess out of NYC (Manhattan or Brooklyn) They will either go to Florida, Bermuda, Bahamas, St, Thomas, St. John, Tortola, Grand Turk, or San Juan- Possibly a private island as well. You can do a 8 night cruise and go to some of these places. Some times you can find a sailing that goes a little bit further away, but you will be sailing for much longer. HTH

Re: Girls that have been on cruises before.....
sailings form ny to europe are not that bad.. its the flight coming back thats a killer. i think a 12-14 night cruise for 12-1400 is cheap considering ur eating 1000 meals a day and ur entertainment and pools etc
ETA <~ heh. prices based on INSIDE cabin. if you want to be a baller and get a balcony or a suite, yea ur paying big time.
