Go ahead, vent about phrases you're sick of hearing!

Original post by cleokizzy

'you're inviting me, right?!' - i'm sick and tired of hearing this! plus i'm getting tired of saying 'We haven't finalized the guest list yet' too!

'Oh, I talked to so & so today and i've invited them. They said their coming.' from my mom & dad. - AGGGHHH! i really do NOT want to invite someone i barely know dad! mom! just because they saw me in my diapers doesn't mean they KNOW me!!!

'why are you getting married in August?! you KNOW the kids have school by then!' from my OOTC (out-of-the-country) guests - uhm, excuse me? we picked a date because it is special to US (*ahem* the bride & groom?). if you want us to reschedule it for YOUR convenience, we'll take sponsors then... How much can we put you down for?

'How much are you planning on spending on ________?' - why do you care?! oh, my bad, are you looking to be our sponsor too?

and just for kicks, i think this should be added as well

'You're checking account has overdrafted because you spent too much on wedding things' - well, they didn't say that verbatim... and technically it only happened once and i've been pretty good eversince!

' YOU HAVE TIME'......I hate to hear that...lol

me too.

that and 'why such a long engagement?

we got that ALLLL the time and it really was annoying. We were engaged almost 3 years and it flew by. Best thing we ever did, it gave us time to save so to all those people who said it to us!

Yesterday is 3 years until my wedding & we have been engaged since September 20th, so whatever! like you said, more time to save and plan && to all the people who said its so long!

I really liked when I followed up with people who who hadn't responded after the RSVP date and they would give me some reason (usually involving whether or not they were bringing a date ... which you'd think they'd know only a couple weeks before the wedding) and then ask:

'When do you need to know by?'

I often wonder why they thought I put an RSVP date on the response card. Did they think it was just a suggestion? And one that applied to other people and not them?

I also had one of these people ask me, in the same email, who they would be sitting with. Which obviously I couldn't figure out yet b/c I needed all the responses back before I could do the seating chart. Ugh.

Not so much about wedding planning, but I HATE and I mean HATE when people make any comments about us having children. This includes asking if we are going to have kids right away or even talking about their own brats misbehaving or screaming all night and saying something like, 'ohh you'll see what it's like soon enough.' Yeah, like that doesn't make me wanna get my tubes tied.

'WHY ARE YOU WAITING SO LONG?' ( I got engaged in 2007, getting married in 2010).

'AM I INVITED?' (Straight up rude question!)

'why do you go to the gym all the time? for your wedding??'.....um no retards I have been going to the gym *all the time* for a long time before I was engaged! like theres something wrong with that...?i like to be healthy regardless of my wedding!

and the more annoying one

'Oh well its still so early'
'You have so much time'
'oh its still so far away'
in refrence to the replies i get from every vendor or person when i tell them my wedding is in 2011!!!!

“Why are you waiting until 2011” – FH grandmothers in unison. My answer because weddings are expensive and i’m not rich!!!

Why aren’t you using this “vendor”? – Simple answer…because we don’t want to. It’s our wedding and as long as we are paying we want to get the vendors we want!!!

Re: Go ahead, vent about phrases you're sick of hearing!

when doing the seating chart w/ my mom - she was like -'oh no you cant sit this one here with that person...' - I heard this to like 7 or 8 different people - when the hell did everybody in the family stop getting along? (1st of all) & 2nd of all - listen - if they cant $uck it up for 6 hours for MY benefit since it is MY day - then tell them to stay the heck home! Dont need drama on MY day!

The seating chart was my biggest nightmare throughout the whole planning process!

Omg there are soo many & like so many of you I still get them even thoguh I am a almost a year closer then since getting engaged (xmas day '08)..

1) when's the wedding..'2011??!!' 'Wow that's so far..'

2) 'your wedding is on a Thursday??..what about your guests??!!'..funny that the guests are the only ones who seem to not have a problem with it..

'But that's not how so and so did it' - on how everything i want to do is 'untraditional'. My ideas are not untraditional, they are just not 'cookie cutter' sorry for not wanting an identical wedding to everyone who has been married before me.

YESSSSS!!! Ughhh every idea I have is responded to with this line.

BTW --- 'I hated how so and so did it... that is why I am doing it my way.'

an afternoon wedding, really? as if it were a bad thing???
yes, an afternoon wedding.

how are wedding plans? are you done yet?
i used to not mind it but now that it's being asked over and over and over again ...

'well you should do this or that ...'

when are you getting married again?

Phrases I was tired of:

Why aren't you getting married on Long Island? DH's family is from southern nj so we picked a place in the middle

Why aren't you getting married on a Saturday night?
Umm could not afford it!

Why do we have to get up so early to get ready?
I got married in the early afternoon.

And the most annoying one..............Aren't you done planning yet? What is left to do?

Re: Go ahead, vent about phrases you're sick of hearing!

As of last night after my first post these new questions/phrases have become frequent!

Is Jessica going to be the flower girl?/ Is Jessica going to be in the wedding/ What if Erika Doesnt let Chris have Jessica, what are you going to do?

Jess is FH's daughter FYI. Well first Jess is definately my FG, i want her involved in my wedding. If Erika doesnt want FH to have Jess for that weekend then since theres no telling what that wacko will do...I'm still getting married, we can have a replacement or not have a FG at all. Im not gonna stress and FH will have to deal bc we wont know until the freaking WEEK OF the wedding.

How do you plan on paying for this wedding? With the money tree growing in my back yard!!! I have a job and a bank account...how do you think i'm paying?

Are you excited/Nervous? Excited yes, nervous no! I have a year and a half...give me time.

What Church are you getting married in? None, He's divorced w/ a kid and we live in sin in our appartment. We're getting married at chateau la mer...yay.

i have to say not many complaints yet but i did hear these once or twice:

'the wedding is costing you alot right , this could go towards a down payment... '

'so much for 1 day is it necessary'
