Re: Greek Brides??

My BF is baptising her baby soon and we were looking for places... did you ladies know there is a new reception hall in Astoria that jus opened up a few weeks ago? It's called Reneaissance in Astoria, I don't know anything about it, but I thought it was interesting.

Back to the subject of Greek Bands....

We went to a wedding yesterday and the band was Delta. They were amazing. They played two hours straight, had a DJ to continue for them, and then they returned after an hour to finish up the night. EVERYONE was dancing and the kefi was beyond words. Even their American songs were excellent.

The violinist though, stole the show. He was hired separately but I can't remember his name right now. He was down on the dance floor and played as everyone danced around him. If anyone needs his name let me know.

My daughter already booked this band with the same violinist, and we are very pleased with the choice. Pricewise they were quite reasonable also.

Deby, I never noticed this place! It looks pretty in the pic and the menu sounds good!

Olga - My ultrasound was good! We saw the baby, but at this point it is soo tiny! We could see it's heart beating. So cute!!

Irene, I think I remember you writing that you were going to Greenport this past weekend. Did you go? How was it? Where in Greenport do you stay?

Re: Back to the subject of Greek Bands....

Hi AtticaQT: Yep....I've been going to greenport since I was a little girl. We stayed at the Blue Dolphin. There are new owners now and they completely renovated the place. Not the prettiest....but much cheaper than the other hotels. We had a great time. The weather was beautiful. Do you go to greenport?

LIMom: I've heard Delta band too and they are great. They were my original choice but were booked on my wedding day and I was so upset.

Also, regarding North Ritz Club.....my niece's christening was held there and everything was wonderful. I feel so bad for what happened to your cousin. Knowing my luck...seems like something that would happen to me.

Re: Back to the subject of Greek Bands....

I used to go to Greenport so often a few years back. I have been going since I was 3! We used to stay at the White Swan. When I was about 7 though my parents bought a summer home on Rockypoint Road in East Marion. It is so small now that we have all grown up and my parents are thinking of renovating it. I havent really gone in the past two years though bec of school and work.

I remember going to Blue Dolphin and hanging out with all the other kids that were there during the summer. I know what you mean by expensive though. My parents used to pay a lot back then when we were renting. We would rent one of the houses out for two weeks.

And Sandpiper! Have you gone there? The owner is greek and they seriously have such good ice cream! Ok I really miss it all now. I am so glad you had a nice time and the weather held up so beautifully!

Re: Back to the subject of Greek Bands....

when I was younger, I used to stay at the North Fork Motel but I think they are now condos. I think they should name greenport to greekport. Everyone on the beach is greek. My husband could not believe it. It was his first time and he really liked it. You are so lucky to have a summer home there. I would love to have one too one day. It is so convenient and cost effective when you have a family.

I love miniture golf at drossos. We went everynight.

Re: is anyone throwing rose petals?

That's one of the topics over at BHB so I thought I'd ask over here. Until we get over to speak to Fr. George, I was wondering if anyone knows if it's allowed at Holy Trinity in Hicksville.
Thanks,
Mary (MOB)

Re: is anyone throwing rose petals?

lololol- I've stayed at the North Fork and the Blue Dolphin when I was a teenager! I remember turning the water in the 'kitchen' sink and something like a slug came out when I was at the Blue Dolphin! Ahhh... those were the good ol' days. FH's parents have a house on the south shore so I have not been much to greenport.

Re: is anyone throwing rose petals?

LMAO, I stayed at Blue Dolphin a few years ago and there were ants all over the kitchen
But besides that it was good. It was the cheapest hotel around there.

There's a Greek Restaurant right down the block, which I love! Haven't been there in a while though.

Re: is anyone throwing rose petals?

I don't think there is an issue with bubble or rice. The rose petals would be an issue if they don't want to clean it up afterwards. I'm sure if you just call the church office, they'll tell you

Re: is anyone throwing rose petals?

Olgaki, I think you're right. The clean up is going to be the problem.
I would have called already but the secretary always asks me to call back and speak to Father. I hate to bother him until I have a few questions lined up. LOL!

Scoop, I am surprised about St. Nick's. I've always had the impression Fr. Paul is stricter than most.
Who cleaned up after your wedding?

Thank a lot of your responses.
