Re: Greek Brides??

Hi!!! Sorry I didnt respond sooner... we were out on the island for the long weekend.

Marcella, congrats on picking up your invites! I am going to pick mine up tomorrow!

My shower is going to be at Caffe on the Green in Bayside. They have a catering room upstairs. I have only been there for dinner, not a catered affair, but my mom, since I was little, used to tell me that she wanted to throw my shower there.

I have not worked on my speech I am a bit of a procrastinator but hopefully I'll have something by the end of this week.

Re: Greek Brides??

Let me ask you your opinions on something... and please be honest.

Originally i was planning on doing the candle placecards, but now I think they may be too much of a pain in the butt, so I have been looking for alternatives.

I came up with two alternatives and I am leaning towards this one:
I want to get those match-notebooks, probably in pale yellow like my flowers, and on the cover write our names and wedding date. And on the back put a clear label with the person's name and seat number. Then they will be set up on the table open (like regular placecards would, like little tents). What do you think? Then they get to take the notepads home.

The other thing I was thinking about were the Martha Stewart chairs.

You know I've been debating the same thing (candle place cards). However, I already bought all the supplies, so I'm doing them. But I've really been thinking that they're going to be a big pain in the ass I think your ideas are really nice and as unique as the candle place cards. Whatever you decide Debbie I think will be beautiful. Good Luck

Re: Greek Brides??

OK- first pic is a bad picture of what they look like (like matchbooks, the wider kind).

Second pic is what the inside looks like.

third pic shows the backside- which is where the name will go and it will be opened like a tent so it can stand.

fourth pic is a side view of the 'tent'

Re: Greek Brides??

thanks for the pic deby. now i know what you are talking about.

honestly, if you don't wanna do the candle placecards, i would do the martha stewart chair idea. but this is just my honest opinion. you should do what you like and makes you happy.

Re: Greek Brides??

Debbie - your shower sounds exciting! I'm sure you cannot wait!

About the placecard holders - I think the martha stewart chairs might be a bit nicer - The thing with the notecards that is bothering me is the staple in the back. I know its so insignificant but i'm wierd like that - i let little tiny things bother me - that could be the reason why i have nothing done.

Do the chairs take a while to make? Are they difficult to make? Maybe you can get your bridal party to help you?

Like Angela said, definitely do what you like do what you like -

I'm so glad that i dont have to make my placecard holders - i'd be going crazy around my wedding time...Alhtough i'm am spending way too much money on placecard holders ...hmm...maybe i will look into something...

Re: Greek Brides??

Re: Greek Brides??

Thanks for your opinions ladies! I dont think the chairs will be that hard to make (as long as mom helps!).

Georgia, I did not hear the VIPs when I was looking for bands. I only saw Powerstation and Chris. I also attended a wedding where Alpha was playing.

Dont second-guess your decisions too much... you'll drive yourself NUTS

Re: Greek Brides??

Marcela - I have a wierd question for you - i dont know if you know the answer -

I was searching the site for info on the VIP country club and I came across the review of the wedding that you went to there -

Well i saw the brides dress and I love the way it looks ...(from the back at least) ...so my question is...do you know the name of the designer??

Re: Greek Brides??

I thought Alpha was really good. If you are not happy with Chris, go check them out. Personally, I liked Chris better.

They have a girl and guy singer, and I had a good time listening to them. I dont remember why I didnt choose them, and I dont remember their prices either... but the guy i spoke to on the phone was a very nice man.

No Georgia, sorry I don't know. But I can have Peter call his friend (her hubby) and we'll ask her.
