Yes, it is Father Antonopoulos, and yes I do go to St. Catherine (but not as much any more since I split church time between Astoria and Zoodohos Pigi in the Bronx where FH goes). I went to school with his niece, and he was the 'main' priest in charge of teaching us religion in the early grades.

I was a flower girl for my cousin's wedding about 25 years ago, and he was the priest at that wedding, and I remember thinking to myself during the ceremony that when I get married, I want him to be the priest at my wedding. So, I can't wait!

Re: *~*~*~*~GREEK BRIDES WEDDING THREAD~*~*~*~*

Hi ladies....sooo glad to see you all here! My FH is Italian and we are currently searching for a DJ. We are going to have both American and Greek. More American and of course I want someone who knows Greek music well, so that way I don't have to worry about putting a cd of songs together. Does anyone have a Greek American DJ they can recommend?? I'm going to meet with Bravo Sounds on Monday. Has anyone heard anything about them? Thanks!

Re: *~*~*~*~GREEK BRIDES WEDDING THREAD~*~*~*~*

Both I suppose. We just booked our RH today, so I'm calling the church tomorrow, and I'm not sure what to expect, as in how long the ceremony runs on average, if we need to come in in person to book it, etc.

(p.s. haven't been around for a while, so I wasn't ignoring you!)

I haven't heard Bravo Sounds in person, but have heard good things about them.

You may also want to look into Greekwave ... DJ George was great at my nephew's baptism!

Hi everyone...

I'm not Greek, but my fiance is, and we're going to be getting married at St. Paraskevi in Greenlawn...has anyone been married there or is going to get married there that can clue me in to the process?

Thanks, I appreciate it

Hey,

I'm not Greek, but marrying a Greek too and we are getting married at St. Paraskevi. We met with Father Dimitrios and he is so nice and Maria has been so helpful too. After you book the date with them, they will call you about 4-6 months before your wedding to schedule you in for a wedding seminar and they go over everything then. I'm really excited about the whole ceremony.

Re: *~*~*~*~GREEK BRIDES WEDDING THREAD~*~*~*~*

I have a question about Greek music. We wanted to play a couple of Greek songs, but FH doesn't know any of his head and neither does his mom. I have no clue either. Can anyone recommend a couple of good dance Greek songs that is commonly played at weddings?

TIA

are you looking for traditional greek dance songs (like kalamatiano and syrto)? or more contemporary tsifteteli-style songs? If you look at some of the previous pages of this thread, you'll see a discussion about Greek songs.

We're getting married at St Paraskevi in Greenlawn at 4:00pm on Sat, Sept 13. Any of you lovely ladies are welcome to come. I'll be very nervous but all is good (I don't like to be the center of attention)

Congrats!!! I'm getting married there next year...I can't wait to see pics!

I've been going crazy trying to find pics of other ceremonies/outside church pics there, since there's no stairs. I'm really curious to see the courtyard and how it photographs.

Good Luck!!!
