Ok so we had a little bit of an awkward situation, well for only me and fh bc we didn't know how it would be handled when the time comes...but basically we were with family this weekend and they were with their 8-9 kids, this is a few family members and the parent of one of the kids said to the kids 'YAY you're going to a wedding soon'...i didn't hear it but FH did and told me, first he said 'i guess we're inviting kids'. Although FH's parents did say months ago that they would let ppl know about this, so maybe i should just let them handle this
NOW let me explain that I would LOVE kids at the wedding but a few, problem is with all the people we're inviting there could possibly be 20-30 kids or even more and thats just a bit TOO much...first is the problem that with that many kids it will become a bit much, thats way too many kids running around, screaming and going nuts lol...another big problem is that kids meals which are chicken fingers and fries will be about $80-90 which is alot to pay for chicken fingers and especially since alot of kids don't even eat their meals, not to mention that if we invite kids then that means we'll have extra tables to make room for everybody which means more cp's and more money so we're talking about a couple thousand dollars extra to invite kids. Plus i also think that its not an appropriate event for a child, it will end at 1:30 am
SO i was thinking of maybe hiring babysitters, and i guess they would stay at the hotel with the kids? not even sure, does anybody know? has anyone looked into this and found out prices or how it would work?

What about your FG and RB? Are their parents going to leave early so the kids can go to bed?

a few of my cousins weddings had a seperate room provided at the hall and a babysitter to watch them. Now these people make a ton of money and can afford that.
I wouldn't stress it out - just say no kids like i did
thank you, very true i cant stress this. I am leaving it in fh's hands lol

I would definitely do a babysitter. It sounds like it woudld save you a lot of money!! I remember a few girls posting last year on here asking if any bride would be interested in making extra money. That might be an option. Hey i'd do it
LOL ok ill ask you if i need it hahahaha but true im sure some ppl would like to make some extra money.
Just a suggestion. I know its been done on here. And there are plenty of moms and teachers on here, so you know they are good with children.

ok thats the thing lol, i said that we HAVE to let just the kids in the bp, which is only 2 young kids and we have a junior bridesmaid but she is 12...i just figure they're in the bp so its a bit different and not to mention that for our FG and RB, not only are the parents of the kids coming but the grandparents of the kids and other family members.

i am having the same issue. I'm trying to look into it and feel confused as to what to do.
I did just find out though that we have access to the bridal suite for the entire night -so we can hire someone to stay with the YOUNG kids in there....but WHO?????
yeah i was thinking about the bridal suite and then its also the issue of a baby sitter staying that late but im sure some would.
Are there any teenage kids in your neighborhood who babysit for alot of kids around your way? i guess i can look into this

We are having one of my brothers girlfriends friends stay at the hotel with another friend and watch the 6 kids that are coming in from out of town that are not invited to the wedding.
But if they are not OOT'ers than I do not think it is your responsibility to provide babysitting.
thats the problem, a decent amount are oot'ers and the 8-9 kids i was talking about, they are coming here and staying the night
In that case I would definetly get a babysitter for the oot'ers children and have your parents explain that babysitting will be provided at the hotel if they needed but that no children are coming to the wedding.
yeah see this is what i was wondering about, our oot guests and whether its the right thing to do by hiring a babysitter and i think it is.

hey denise
we are having about a dozen kids - aged 4-14 - they are all of our nieces and nephews
my sister's regular babysitter is going to be there, at the party with them and can take them back to the hotel room if and when they are tired or when my sister tells her to
our wedding ends at 130 also and i know they wont make it the whole night

I think im gonna have my mom ask this lady she knows about more info and around how much she would charge. I know she also needs the money so i would like to hire her to help her out

I live in Jersey - i don't live in NY anymore - and two of the kids will be VERY young (barely 2) - so i can't trust a teenager with them the way I would with kids 5-10....

Is it out of the question to NOT invite the kids? Just sent the invites to the adults (Mr & Mrs XYZ) and if they question it then let your parents deal with the issue? I'm just worried that if you hire sitters than how are you going to explain to the parents to bring the kids but that they can't actually come to the wedding itself?
well thats the plan, the parents said they will let everyone know...i just felt bad about a few ppl, our oot guests. Now it makes even harder that the kids were told they are going to our wedding but ill tell fh to talk to his parents about it and see what they say now
Yeah, you can't feel bad about that though. They should never have opened their mouths until they were sure. People should never assume things when it comes to weddings. It's like promising a kid a cookie...you better not do it unless you're 100% sure there's a cookie there somewhere....
I was just going to say this too. They shouldn't assume that their kids will be invited.
i dont agree with this i think when it is an out of town wedding, it should be SAFE to assume the family is invited i guess my family is different - we always invite the kids

yes to sit at the table with them but the 8 and 9 and 10 year olds will be fine the little guys may need some assistance with food or something but its not like their parents wont be there either

yeah very true, thats why i prefer to hire this lady who has kids of her own and has done this for weddings before, a teenager is a little different when theyre so young.
There has to be some type of service for something like this, ill look up info and let you know if i find something. Ill look more into it when i get home

oh wait let me correct myself, when i said 8-9 before i meant 8-9 kids(just his moms side) not 8-9 years old and theyre all 7 and under, most of them are between 2-6 lol, then theres some that are even younger but not sure if they're parents will bring them
