how was leonards of great neck? was the food good and did you bump into the other parties that were going on???
I got married there. When I went there an hour before the cocktail hour, me and my husband had pictures taken of us at one or two areas in the hall. I think we passed a few people from another party, but it wasn't everyone entering to go to someone's reception, I think they were going to use the bathroom or something. I really don't remember seeing people from another party other than that.

Good idea!Swan Club
Friday night September 04, Not such a fan of Fri night, had to leave work early and sit in rush hour traffic to get to church. Anyway, great cocktail hour, loved the seafood display in a boat filled with ice, very cool and tasty. Room was not the nicest I've ever seen, but pretty and dinner was good. Bathroom is too small and hard to get into.
Temple, New Rochelle, don't remember name
Sun night Memorial Day weekend. Good food, large facility, ordinary banquet room.
Coral House
Sun night wedding, Sept. think it was 2 years ago. Horrible Food, way too many different parties going on at once, although in their defense once you are herded into your party's room, you are no longer aware of the other weddings going on. Cocktail hour in a weird space downstairs that wasn't really a room, more like a corridor, worst food I've ever had and I don't know if this is common, but they serve their wine out of a box! and it was bad wine too. Dinner not much better. The room was very large and very beautiful. They were on a budget. I know that's why they chose there, but I think they could've gotten better quality elsewhere.
Harrison House
Best wedding we've ever been too. Gorgeous grounds, outdoor cocktail hour with floating CPs in the pool, lobster and various seafood. Banquet Room strange shape, but very good food. Also, afterparty in the upstairs pub was great end to the night and so convenient that they've got one on sight for you to use if you like.
Westbury Manor-
Not a wedding, several formals and business functions on weeknights. beautiful, centrally located, good food. Seems like a very good deal for the money.
Think that's it for LI so far. got one in NJ in Mar if anyone is interested I'll comment after.

I went to a wedding at East Wind recently. The place is beautiful but I have to say as far as the food, I would give it a 3 on a scale from 1 to 10. There were alot of people complaining about the quality of the food. The place was beautiful though, very big and the people that worked there were very good.
i was at a wedding at east wind in the estate and the food was fabulous!!!! i heard one complaint about someone's meat not being cooked enough (that was my grandpa and he complains about everything :)
the service was great, the hall is beautiful! i loved east wind.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
I have so many cousins that have gotten married...I have been to weddings at Villa Lombardis, Chateau Briand, Watermill, Floral Terrace, Russo on the Bay, Sandcastle, Woodbury Country Club, Fox Hollow, the Woodlands, Crest Hollow Country Club...all the weddings were excellent!!!!!!certain places had a little something that made it memorable, for example I will never forget the viennese hour at Fox hollow or Russo's, the cocktail hour at Villa Lombardi's, the beatifull view at Crest Hollow, the classy dance floor at the Woodlands...I will be honest and say that for my overall favorite it is a tie between Floral Terrace and Villa Lombardi's I left both weddings stuffed (as did my fiancee)..the food was wonderful!!!!
Keep in mind these were all big Italian weddings w/ full cocktail hour, seven courses, full viennese hour.
I am the first one getting married at Jericho Terrace!!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
Wedding was at Chateau Briand on a Saturday night this past weekend. As we walked in, there was a gentleman greeting everyone and directing them. The place looked beautiful and very deco I thought. We had to walk around and take the elevator as the ceremony was on the second floor. The bride setup the place really beautiful with calla lilies arrangements. There was a piano player and the music was very pretty which was very nice for the ceremony. When the ceremony started, everything was very quiet. Even the officiant said that we were the quietest group he had ever seen. In fact we were so quiet, that we heard music coming from another location. FH whispered in my ear as to how the music can be heard. I thought in my opinion that this was not good. Even when the officiant was talking, you heard the music. Only when the piano player was playing songs, we didn’t hear it. It was a beautiful, touching ceremony nonetheless. After the ceremony and the receiving line, there was someone from CB directing everyone downstairs where the CH was about to start. I was really expecting a lot more especially since I thought this was a Scotto Brothers’ place. I was a bit disappointed. Perhaps it had to do with the bride’s choosing. Not sure. As we came in to pick our placecards which were in metal fortune cookies(really cute), there was a tray with champagne and strawberries…(no one was handing them). So we took one and went to find our seating arrangements. We then found a table to start to mangia. It is one of the first few places that I’ve gone that there was plenty of seating for everyone. I gather it was because the CH had two types of food being served. (Chinese/Italian) I had a bit of everything to taste because I knew I had to do this review. :0)What I Loved the most was the Penne a la Vodka. It was delicious. They also had eggplant rollatini, chicken with brocolli rabbe, clams with angel hair pasta which was OK and other servings of food which were OK as well. There were about 10 of us that went and all of us were a bit disappointed because we were expecting so much more. We then proceeded to the reception. Someone came by every table to announce that the reception will start soon and gave the name of the room. The reception room looked very pretty and it was decorated very nice with centerpieces that had rocks and goldfish in them. I thought this was really cute and different. I thought this was a nice CP to take home but we later found out that you could take the bamboo but not the vase.
I really enjoyed this reception because they brought two cultures together so nicely and it was rich in tradition and everyone got to see what happens at a Chinese wedding. I really appreciated seeing that.
And what I really loved the most was the band they had playing. If any of you ladies/gentlemen booked Sweetwaters…you have absolutely nothing to worry about. If I could, I’d booked them myself. What a great band. They played all kind of music..they had everyone on the dance floor. They also sang pretty good. There was a band member that played the Saxophone…he was really good and he also played during the CH. They really kept the party going. Excellent Band !!!
As far as the reception food, everyone in my table got something different. I got the salmon which was very tasty. They had seven choices from shrimp to beef, to chicken. When they served the food, it was cold. Something good though was that every time anyone would get up from the table, they’d fix the napkins. I thought this was good service. Wait staff didn’t ask if we wanted any drinks.
I thought I liked the place but it is a deco style and I wasn’t too crazy about it. It was nice though if you are looking for that kind of surroundings. Overall, we had a good time and we enjoyed ourselves. I think definitely the band helped tremendously for everyone to enjoy. We had a good time though and I feel the bride did everything nicely to bring two cultures together and for everyone to have a good time and celebrate with them.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
Watermill (2000 - Saturday night in March) The reception hall is very pretty. I didn't like that there were so many events going on at the same time. They keep you locked in the CH room until the other weddings have been moved and then heard you like sheep into the reception room. The service and food were good.Villa Lombardi's (1999 January Sunday night) The wedding was held very soon after they opened. The food was tremendous and very good. The cocktail hour was held in the room that is right to the right upon entering so the food was all in one room and the tables for eating were set up in this large hallway like room. Love the set up in the reception hall and the food was yummy.
Rockhill Country Club (April 2000- Saturday night) - They have done a lot of rennovations since the wedding. At the time that hte wedding was held, there wasn't a seperate room for the cocktail hour - The food was set up in a large side room right off the reception room. I really liked the set up because you got to sit at your table right away and could start dancing right away. The food and the service were great.
Oheka Castle (Dec. Saturday Night 2004) The grounds are stunning! The foyer is so pretty as you enter. The standing room while waiting for the cermony to begin is a little small. The room where the cocktail hour was held was very pretty with a magnificent bar but not enough seating. I was a little disappointed in the reception room, not because it isn't pretty, but because it doesn't hold any of the charm as the rest of the castle. The food is okay and the service is good.

I went to another event at East Wind and it must have been the food I chose the first time because I would definitely say it was much better this time. Definitely great. As I said before the place is beautiful and the service is fantastic

Great idea!!Watermill--
We went to a wedding at the Watermill about a month ago and the place itself is lovely, but the food was aweful. 1) All the food at the CH was cold. (not luke warm-COLD). 2) We were told we would be having filet mignon --the waiter asked how we would like our FILET MIGNON cooked, but it was NOT FILET MIGNON. It was beef wellington. 3) The cake was HORRIBLE!! 3 people sitting next to me agreed. And one of the guys actually said, 'I'm pretty drunk, and this cake STILL tastes aweful.' I was very disappointed. I had heard so many great things about the Watermill. Like I said, the decor was fine, but I will never have a funciton there because when I think of the Watermill I think of horrible food.
Milleridge Cottage -
All I can say is OUTSTANDING!!!! The food, the decor, everything was incredible!!

East Wind on a Saturday in 2003: It was very nice and the outside was beautiful. It was a little tight for room, because it wasn't in the new bigger rooms it was in a small room. Otherwise it was nice.Windows on the Lake on a Sunday in 2004:
Very nice, beautiful rooms.
Thatched Cottage on a Sunday 2/2005:
A really nice place with good food.

Captain Bills-nov.2003The only thing I didnt like here was that they didnt have enough seats for everyone at the cocktail hour. Me, fh and many other people had to stand and eat. The food was wonderful at both the cocktail hour and dinner.
Nov.2004- lake isle country club.
Food was GREAT. Service was excellent.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)
Leonards of Great Neck- (April 05-Sunday)JMO:It was a day wedding and unfortunately a very rainy, cold one. Poor Bride! She had a limo get a flat while on way to ceremony and she was late and her florist SCREWED up her bouquet...gave her yellow instead of white.( a vendor on here too). Anyways....................
CH was good....I like the room cause it was huge! I think it was the 2nd floor we were on.
The reception was nice but I wasnt for the food. We got pasta (yummy) and salad then the main course which was suppose to be Filet Mignon. Uh, it wasnt. I had more fat on my plate..I think it was prime rib. I dont care that it was prime rib..just say that it is.
Its a really pretty place but there was also too much going on. I think there was a bridal shower, wedding and a chistening. People everywhere and of course a long line for the valet.
Overall it was ok. Again all, JMO.

I went to a wedding a few years ago at Majestic Gardens- very nice, I remember the food being good for dinner but the cocktail hour being a little weak. We did have a great time. The ceremony area was beautiful outside but it seemed like they didn't keep up the fountain area...it was a little dirty....this was in 99 so things could have changed. The bride and groom are now divorced!Crest Hollow Country Club...went to a wedding there in september 2000. The ceremony was set for 7:00 and it started exactly at 7:00 my fh and I were there but many people missed the ceremony. They rushed through the ceremony because they had another couple getting married. One more negative before I come to the positives. They served beer out of 40's! The drinks were served out of a pushcart...only one standing bar in the room and we had to pay for shots!
The food was excellent...filet absolutely delish..and we had a great time....I doubt the bride even knew about any of the issues.

I'm going to a Bat Mitzvah at Leonard's of Great Neck the first Saturday in May. While it's not a wedding, I can still comment on the food and service, so I'll post something afterwards.

WATERMILL JULY 04I had a great time at this wedding...
Cocktail hour was suppose to be outside but it rained so it had to be inside and it was really cramped...
We were in the room downstairs... the food was great, the service was great.... I think watermill brides have nothing to worry about! I had a really good time!

NO ONE POSTED ABOUT HAMLET WINDWATCH AND COUNTRY CLUB IN HAUPPAUGE.I have been to Watermill,Lands End, The vineyards, Huntington Town House.
Watermill- was very pretty and the food was good. The only thing I didn't like was the band was to loud! I couldn't hear anyone talk and I was sitting on the opposite side of the room from the band. I was in the up stairs room.
Lands End- absolutely beautiful!!!! Food was great, the Ck was awesome and I loved seeing the ferrys come in. I loved that they greeted us with frozen drinks when we first got there and the reception room was beautiful.
My cousin had chair covers and high centerpieces and I would definitely recommend it if your having your wedding their.
The vineyards- This was NewYears Eve,and it was very nice. The food and service were great.
Huntington House- Not my favorite! I think the decor is a little too much and the food is okay.
