Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

The Estate at East Wind. Saturday Day Wedding in July 04.
The coctail hour was amazing. Tons of food in two rooms. Enough seating for everyone, very important to me! When walking in to the main reception the staff asked for your names and escorted you to your seats. Liked that.
Overall, Great service and great food.

Majestic Gardens Labor Day Weekend Two yrs ago Friday night. Every thing was great. Only Complaint is you have to walk thru main recepion room to go to the coctail hour room.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

Is there a difference between Milleridge Inn and Milleridge Carriage house?
If so, which one is better and why?
I am having about 80-90 guests.

The Inn is the Main restaurant...the carriage house is one of the rooms for lack of a better word...its actually a seperate building...I think you can put up to 130 in there. I have heard there is seperate catering for the Inn and for the Carriage House and the Cottage

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

July 2005, Crest Hollow Country Club, beautiful hall and grounds, good food, excellent stafff. They did drop a bowl of ice cream on my brothers suit jacket, but they whipped out a check to bring it to the dry cleaners. Oh, and another DJ was setting up for another wedding during my cousins ceremony and you hear the CHECK CHECK for a minute. Oops.

Any other reviews on Mediteranean Manor?

i checked out the mediterrean manor and i honestly wasnt very impressed neither was FH. For a prom yes its perfect, but i didnt feel it was for a wedding. the place has beautiful aspects, but it wasnt for us.

the lobby was nice, but i wasnt impressed with the cocktail hour room which is all we were able to see room wise because a prom was going on.

the menu didnt have as many choices as other places and the price was still pretty high i think its only 10 less than what we're paying at the hall we chose and we're getting twice as much.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

One thing I realized with this whole process was that unless I was instantly rich, I had to decide what issues were important to me. Even now I have complaints about my catering hall. But what I come out of most weddings is remembering how much fun I had.

This is exactly what I learned...not just with the hall but with all vendors. Very well put!!!!!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

Went to a wedding at Chatiau Briand. Everything was great! I like how the bride and groom make their entrance from the ground up in the middle of the dance floor!

P.S. I like this board and find it kinda helpful. Some comments are not helpful at all,i.e., being seated by the bathroom is not the halls fault, l.o.l

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

Leonards 2003-Wasn't impressed at all about any aspect of this hall.

Wedding at Larkfield Manor-Oct 04
The food was delicious, service was great.
The room was beautiful, plenty of room. Very clean place. Only bad aspect was there wasn't much outdoor picture taking options

Westbury Manor-June05-
The grounds are beautiful, service was alright. The room was great, very comfortable. The food was pretty good.

Chateau La Mer-Wasn't too impressed by the outside, but the inside was beautiful. The food was delicious and service was pretty good.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

I went to a wedding at Thatched Cottage a few weeks ago. The outside is so pretty. It over looks Centerport Harbor and it such a serine setting. The cockhail hour was great. It was set up inside and out so there were plenty of seats and lots of room. I didn't like the reception room where dinner was held. I thought the ceiling was very low and the dance floor was pretty small. Dinner wasn't good at all and the way it was served was herrendous. They came around and put plates in front of you depending on what you ordered. They then walk around with serving dishes and serve you from that. If that was it, it would be fine but our table was served in stages so some people got their food 10 minutes before the rest of them. They screwed up what I ordered and that took about 5 minuties for them to fix it. Then they forgot my FH so I said something to the waitress. She left and came back about 5 minutes later with the BM who said, quote, ' Your salmon was given to someone else so you can wait 1/2 hour for salmon or you can have duck or prime rib.' ***???? You ran out of salmon????

We also went to a wedding early this summer at West Park Winery in Hudson Valley. It was a very pretty setting. The cermony was set up on a hill overlooking the river. The only downfall is that you have to walk up a grass hill about 500 yards to the site. It wouldn't have been bad if you aren't wearing heels. Cocktail hour was under an arbor which was very pretty. It was butler style and the food was good. The reception was held under a tent and was very nice. It was a 4 course meal without choices but the food was good.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

I also had 2 destination weddings. One was to Vegas and it was at the Bellagio - the best!! waiters were everywhere waiting to serve, the food was the best I ever had at a wedding.

Second one was a cruise to the Bahammas. so much fun, they had a ceremony that turned into a mini reception and various event over the 4 day cruise.

Chateau Briand Aug 2005
Good food but small portions. Cool entrance for bride/groom thru the elevated floor. Had great weather and the CH was very nice outside

FoxHollow Jan 2005
CH was great, the winter decor was lovely. We were little cramped at the tables and it was hard to get around the tables. Food was good.

Verdis - March 2005
Good food, good room layout. However while the ceremony was going on you could hear the party in the next room.

Hilton Gardens in Staten Island June 2005
Beatiful grounds for pictures. Excellant food and huge room with high ceilings. However no bar to hang out after the wedding.

Larkfield Manner 2x July 2005 & April 2004
The bridal attendant was great, bridal suite was small but they kept the drinks and food flowing. Good food and they offered seconds.

Majestic Garden Oct 2004
Beautiful grounds, great food and good size bridal suite.

Miller Place Inn -Sept 2003
I liked the room layout with the long bar. Good food.

Leonards - March 2001
Excellant wedding, awesome food, viennese hour was insane. Didn't even know there were other weddings going on.

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

Chateau Briand (2001)

My sister had her reception here and despite us running around like mad people, we all had such a great time. I remember the food vividly (despite it being almost 5 years since we were there!), the CH was fantastic, there was a Raw bar that was practically picked clean, everything was so delicious. I don't remember much about the appetizer and salad, but I do remember my entree being extremely tasty (I had the chicken). I'm impressed with this Scotto Brothers venue, as I have been to weddings at Fox Hollow and don't remember the food being the same (but love the decor and rooms at FH).

I went three other weddings within the last 2-3 years (including one at the Fox Hollow as stated above), but the names of the venues escapes me so it wouldn't do anyone any good.

Next month I have two weddings, one at the North Ritz Club and the other at the Glenn Island Harbor Club. I will update with those when I go!

Re: Have You Been to a Wedding at? (Updated Today)

Lombardi's on the sound (PJCC)
Ok, this was a small wedding ( a second wedding for both bride and groom). Ceremony was outside on the side of the building. The view was beautiful, however, there were not people around to show us how to find the ceremony and many guests ending up walking into different affairs. We were in a small room upstairs for both cocktails and reception. There was not a formal cocktail hour spread so I really cant comment on food, but there was some passed food which was good. The bride was unhappy because people were not using the deck during this time. The maitre'd did not do a great job of directing us. The dinner was good. It started with a pasta dish (didnt like the sauce, but everyone else at my table did). Salad was good and for dinner you could have Lombardi steak (I tried DH's it was OK, chicken franchaise or salmon). I had the chicken it was very good. There was a bar with one bartender, so at times there were long lines. There was no table service for drinks. We all had to keep getting up. I think this caused the lines. Wedding cake was yummy. FM me if you need other details.
