I have nothing against gay people...I just want to say this first before I say what I am going to say...

Talking about inequity...I can not get on FH's health insurance w/ out a wedding license, so I must pay out of pocket. Meanwhile, his job told us if we were a gay couple, married or not, I would have been insured. So I ask you...is that fair?

While we are on insurance...insurance is monitored on the state level (hence: NYS department of insurance). If you have a gripe about your insurance coverage, take it up w/ Pataki...although, he has done wonderful things for us in reguard to insurance (Healthy NY, etc). Without his ins legislation, I would not even have ins!

I had the same issue with my then FH's insurance. The reason I was given is that we have the option of getting married. Since homosexuals do not have that right a lot of companies offer the domestic partnership insurance option, which they are not required to do by law.

Re: Hey, people, ya know something!!!

I'm lucky that I cn get FH's insurance. But yeah , I hear where you're coming form, but think about it, you couldn't get his insurance before you were married, but basically anywhere he worked, you could get it after..if not for domestic partnership benefits, gay people would NEVER be able to get it..so I don't mind that inequity. However, I think it's great that some companoues are giving domestic partner benefits to anyone..it's just easily abused, so I think that's why a lot of people won't do it.

I really hope that CubanBride is someone trying to play a joke on us. Otherwise...God help us! I pray that she doesn't breed!!!

I think she's 'dontwannasay'.

What the hell? Jeez, rude much. Can't have a civilized conversation with a nother human being without people getting nasty. What a bunch of ****.

And you guys wonder why the world is the way it is? Huh, cause of statements like that.

Cuban - I do feel that on many occasions today and on a few threads you have been hostile and try to negate other people's opinions. Some of us just want to have a discussion on issues and not turn everything into an arguement.

That's not the case, but it doesn't matter. I haven't personally insulted anyone and what she posted really hurt my feelings. People need to learn to stay away from personal attacks because they have no idea what someone's life is about and some things may hit home. I do argue a lot, but so what. I don't intentionaly try to hurt peoples feelings.

But I will stay away from the message board from now since its not possible to have an civilized argument.

Re: Hey, people, ya know something!!!

Last I heard Kerry wasn't for gay rights either. So if he was elected how would that have been different? I know he wasn't proposing an amendment but he wasn't out there saying if I'm elected gay people will be treated equally and will be allowed to marry.

The point is he wasn't supportive of a Constitutional Amendment, he was willing to leave the issue alone, basically. - but he wasn't supportive of adding discrimination to the Constitution.

As someone who voted for Kerry, I cringed every time he said marriage was between a man and a woman because I fully support gay marriage, but in contrast, I throw things at the TV when I hear Bush speak about his discriminating amendment. Basically, it was the lesser of two evils.

No it's not fair to you guys, but I don't think it's an issue of equality or discrimination.

That's why I voted for Nader. I refuse to bow to the acceptance of the lesser of 2 evils. I knew Nader wasn't going to win but I wanted to give the 3rd party my vote. Maybe in future years the 3rd party will get strong enough to actually have a chance.

If this were a year that I wouldn't care so much if my candidate lost (for lack of a better explanation), I would have voted 3rd party myself. I've never voted 3rd party before but I think in the future I will, especially if the Dems don't find stronger candidates to represent me.

Cuban - (spoken in the most informative of tones, with little emotion behind it:) Honestly, you often say things in a very condescending tone. Yes, it is hard to understand the tone behind a typed message, but you really need to look at your choice of words. YOU make personal attacks by saying 'get off your butt' and 'stop whining' in your first post, and then freek out and blame the direction of the thread on everyone else. It seems you barely ever look within yourself as to the reason why so many of your posts get flamed, and why so often, angry people feel the need to tell you what they think of you as a fake poster. Yes, this is lame, but this is not the first time I have seen this happen on one of your posts. Instead of blaming EVERYONE in the universe for why things go awry, why not look internally for the answer?

Ok, I'll bite:

Firstly, my posts get flamed often because I will type something and people will take it a certain way, often in ways that weren't meant. I cannot help that. I type quickly (mostly because I am at work and don't want people looking at what I am doing) and just like to get my thoughts in. Sometimes I will edit because I can tell when something I wrote can be taken offensively. I have read many things on here that came of in a way that could be taken as offensive, but I don't assume that it always is. But I wouldn't say something to someone, like I wish your dog would die, especially if I knew you had a sick dog. I have never done that. And I think intention is an important part of discussion.

Secondly, how the heck can someone type something in a condescending tone? There is no tone.

Let me ask you an open ended question. Do you really feel that 'get off your butt' was a personal attack to anyone here? And if so, in what way? I would like to know how that translated.

There are so many judgements and assumptions made about people on here (many of them in your post). It's the Internet. There is no way you can get the gist of people on this thing.

You don't have to be gay to support gay rights!

Just because I am not a minority doesn't mean I don't support the NAACP!

Just because same sex marriage is not legal at this time, it does not mean that there are not same-sex couples on this board, planning their committment ceremonies, receptions for their accepting family and friends to celebrate that they found love.

Actually I bet that you chat to them on this board without even knowing. But with the attack mentality of this board, there are many reasons for not disclosing this personal information online.
