Horribly ...good news

text message thread to my phone as follows
***********************************************

sister : surgery is set for march 21st

me : what surgery?

sister : dad is getting a new kidney

me: WHAT?? from who?

sister: I'm giving him one of mine
***************************************************
I had NO clue this was in the works and Scheduled now for 3 weeks before my wedding

I was SO upset for 3 reasons

ONE - I was kept in the dark that they were even testing for this

TWO- it's 3 WEEKS before my wedding

THREE - I am so stressed, and no one thought it important to tell me my dad and sister where have organs moved around.

I am THRILLED my dad can get a new kidney

but I was piiiisssed that I was kept in the dark about a major family event, so close to my own wedding!

Am I wrong?

It's def. a horrible, great news.

I would be thrilled regardless of the time frame. I think nothing beats our parents health.
Don;t be upset..rather embrace this great news.

I was just so hurt that no one thought that I would want to know this early.

I spent all of Saturday with my mom shopping for her dress for the wedding, and she whispered not a peep about it.

If the surgery was scheduled for the day before my wedding i wouldn't protest, but being left in the dark and then broad sided... that hurts.

Ive ALWAYS feared my father wouldn't be able to walk me down the aisle, cause he has always been sick and i worried he wouldn't be there for my wedding, to see my children.. ect

so to suddenly find out TWO family members
may not be there for the biggest day of my life thus far

and not being warned ...

I've been under A LOT OF stress.... this didn't help

Re: Horribly ...good news

when I flat out asked them, they didn't say

'we didnt wanna stress you out'

they said

'oops we thought you knew'

I totally understand how you're feeling

As much as it is absolutely amazing great news...I'd be sad and worried that they wouldn't make it to the wedding

They prob didn't tell you bc they didn't want to stress you out, but I still don't think its right

what's done is done...don't stress yourself out too much! take a deep breath...and just focus on being happy for your father getting a new healthy life!

I would be VERY upset.

One she told you over text message. Two, why wouldn't she tell you she was getting tested, got approved, etc.

Three, since you wedding is close to the surgery date and I've heard the recovery is very difficult they should have made you aware in advace!

Your sister will have a very difficult recovery.

I'd be really upset that I wasn't told...That is a huge deal!

BUT just try to remember that this is, as you said, good news overall. I hope the surgery goes perfectly and both members can be there for your day feeling wonderful.

I know you said they replied with 'i thought you knew' but maybe everyone just didn't want to be THE ONE to tell you, you know? And they just passed the buck to someone else. Not that it was right

FSIL's mom didn't tell her she had breast cancer the whole time FSIL was pregnant with FH's niece. EVERYONE knew except her and her mom didn't want her stressed during the pregnancy.

I'm sure she wasn't too happy to be the last to know but she got passed it to focus on her mom's health kwim?

Vent away naomi!

they make it seem like it will all be ok, but i know that it's not an easy surgery and that infection/complications could occur!

**sigh** over the summer this would be OVER THE TOP amazing news

in march- its dreadfully great news... one more thing to worry about

Yes, its hard because it's something you should be elated about. But this is life so you have to move on and focus on the positive. But vent on here because although some the wedding is not as imporant it's still a very big day!

this! I woudl be upset that they didn't tell me also. they shoudl have definitely told you. even though they say they didn't know, hwo did it not come up in conversation before this? it seems weird that it never came up before... It was like they were keeping it from you.

I am sorry Naomi! If you need anything you know how to get me!

I definately would be taken aback that they didn't keep you informed. I would then be greatful that he is getting a kidney.

I can totally see how this could upset you. I am sure your family felt they were doing the right thing by not telling you, they only had too intention but yes it would upset me to that my family was going through this and I was an outsider...
