Tell me your stories!!!

I just got engaged this weekend. My bf and I went to dinner with his sister and her bf. I never ever eat dessert but for some reason he insisted I get dessert this time. So finally I said I would when he promised to share it with me, and when the waiter put the plate down infront of me they had written in chocolate syrup 'Will You marry Me?' I was so stunned I couldn't even speak. I literally had no idea. Next thing I knew he had my hand in his and was saying 'well? what do you say?' I knew I wanted to say yes but I couldn't find the word in my head...lol. Eventually I snapped out of it and said yes. So here I am.

For me, it was also in a restaurant... one of our favorite places in NYC. It was a prix fixe dinner that we've had before, so during my favorite course he started telling me how much he loved me, and then he pulled the ring out of his pocket. It was so cute because he was SOOOO nervous and his voice was shaking! Of course I said YES! After we left the restaurant there was a limo waiting for us and it drove us back home to LI to tell our parents the good news! There was a bottle of Dom Perignon in the limo which we polished off before we even got through the tunnel

That was March of 2002, and now I have less than 3 months until the wedding!!!!

My FI proposed to me at the Crow's Nest in Montauk. We were there for Valentine's Day weekend (Feb. 2002). We went there for dinner. He had us sit next to the fireplace and right after dinner we made me trun around and close my eyes. When I opened them, he was on one knee asking me to marry him. The one thing that I did not know until after he proposed was that he told everyone that was sitting around us and the whole staff.

He proposed in my parents' swimming pool. He called me over and said look what I found - - it ended up being my ring.

Marcellabella-Same type of engagment? Fill me in!! I tried to steal the plate from the restaurant but FH knocked some sense into me and made me realize it wouldn't keep. So he ran and bought a disposable camera so I could take a pic.

it was the day before valentines day(2002) and i had just hurt my back at work and i was lying in bed. he go on one knee on the side of the bed and proposed. i started crying and said yes. later he told me he was going to do it originally on valentines day, but couldn't wait.

Mine knew that if he took me out for dinner, I would know what he was doing.We had talked about it and even looked at some rings together so he could be sure what I liked.We were actually watching tv and he had the ring hidden in the Christmas tree. He was sitting on the couch behind me as we watched tv.He kept telling me how much he loved me and I thought 'Yeah yeah,I know.' I turned to look at him and he was kneeling down with the ring in his hand.AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
I think I said 'Yes' a million times!

Both of us were talking about getting married for a long while...so I was expecting it to a certain degree...things did throw me off though. My FH told me he wanted us to be all nice and dressed up when he does propose...so everytime we would go out I would dress up nicely... TUrns out...one sat night in march....we were supposed to go to an Italian restaurant and celebrate an accomplishment I had in school...So we get there...and I find out that he didnt make reservations...(mind you, he knew very well that this place is packed saturday nights and reservations are a must) so we got turned away bec they wouldnt be able to seat us that night. He turns around and asks me if I want to go to a diner...(meanwhile I'm thinking WHAT????...a diner?? So it totally threw me off and i figured he wasnt asking that night - I also got ****ed at him for even mentioning a diner). We ended up going to a greek restaurant called S'agapo (in greek it means 'I love you'). While we were eating I knew this wasnt the place bec it was too packed that night. After dinner, we ended up going to a park by the river under the Triboro Bridge (we had gone there after our first date which was about 5 years ago). He asks me to get out of the car...and I am thinking 'are you nuts? it is cold outside'...but that kinda tipped me off. So we went out, sat by the ledge and he says he has a present for me. He gives me this medium sized box which I open up...and find a little precious moments figurine of the little boy on his knee holding a ring box...with a dog next to him...and the dog had the ring on his nose....before i realize it...My FH is on his knee with the real ring in front of him and pops the question!! Even though i knew it was coming...i was still shocked and couldnt give him an answer until I calmed down a bit. He actually had to ask me twice because i was just sitting there shaking my hands up and down - It was simple but very memorable to me.

My kitten proposed to me!!! FI put a color on her with the ring. As she always does...Thanksgiving morning she woke me up licking my face...I opened my eyes and the ring was in my face blinding me and a special song to us playing in the background. He crawled on the bed behind her and said this long thing and asked...he was so nervous...he was shaking a little...and then we celebrated at thanksgiving dinner with our family. It was AMAZING!!!

My story is funny. Let me first say I am a cat lover and my fiance wanted to do something original. We were going to the city for dinner in Little Italy (that gave me a clue bc we never go there) and yet he made plans for all of our friends to meet at a lounge on the island afterwards. So he comes over and hes wearing a SUIT! (i totally knew right there) I was in jeans and ran to change. So the whole way to the city I'm thinking he is going to propose in the restaurant somehow...maybe the waiter will bring the ring over in a champagne glass, maybe hell get on one knee.....so before we get there he said we have to stop at his sister's house. I asked why and he said to drop off a TV. Ummm ok. So we get to her apartment and he opens the door and their persian cat is sitting there. Justin says to me 'look at Morris (the cat) isnt he cute? Go say hello!' So I am looking at the cat but not going near him bc I'm in a black suit and didn't want to get hair on me. Justin keeps telling me to pick him up but I'm like 'youre nuts, i dont have a lint brush with me!' So finally justin picks him up and hands him to me and I realzed the ring was tied around the cat's neck on a little bow! OOPS. He couldn't use my cat to do it bc my cat hates him! LOL....
Anyway after dinner we went back to LI because Justin told all our friends to meet us out to celebrate!

Awww, thats so cute. For some reason I always pictured getting engaged in bed like in the morning. I thought I was too slick for him to get anything past me, so first thing in the morning would be the best place since I woudln't have time to think about it.

FH and I are both marathoners and we met because of running. Last Memorial Day weekend we were out for a long run. We always start and finish our runs together, but he's (much) faster so we don't run side by side. As I was just coming round the last bend, I see the words, 'Will you marry me' spelled out in 4-inch wooden letters along the edge of the trail. At the end of the question was a picture we took when we were in Hawaii (which is where we first decided we wanted to be more than friends) and some nice words about our relationship. The ring was in the grass beneath the picture, entwined in little yellow buttercups. He was hiding in the bushes a few feet off. I think I said yes before he even could ask in his own voice.

I knew it was coming but I did not expect it during a long run, nor on that day! I was so surprised!!!

As soon as FI put the ring around her neck she ran and hid under the bed....he was freaking out....he couldnt get her out and he was worried about the ring.... He also told me he knew I would want my little girl part of my big day....how cute!!

So funny...more than one of us with kitty proposals...I love it!

It was his late fathers birthday and FH took me out to dinner at a burger joint and then we went walking on the boardwalk at jones beach. It was supposed to rain that night so I thought he was crazy to want to walk at the beach but since I thought it would make him feel better we went. He said he had to tie his shoe and the next thing I know I looked down at him on one knee and he had the ring out. I was soo suprised it took me a min to say yes. I knew we were going to get engaged but he was unemployed at the time and I expected him to wait until he got a job. Thankfully the thursday after he got a job.

We went to dinner to a restaurant and just after we ordered the matree-d came over and asked us if we would like to see their beautiful garden. I knew something was up at that moment. The garden had a fountain in the middle and candles everywhere. He got on his knee and asked. FI said he wanted to ask after dinner but said he was too nervous and I would get suspicious if he would not touch his food. So he got up telling me that he changed his mind and is going to tell the waiter that he doesn't want his stake medium anymore but well done ( me thinking he is insane) but he actually told the waiters to speed up the process. Everyone in the restaurant including the owner knew that' he'll pop the question

My FI works at JFK airport, so one night we went out to dinner and then he took me to this spot in the airport right at the end of the runway. I was so overwhelmed with the planes that when I turned around to look at him he was on his knee.
