Ok so i officially threw in the towel and gave up on wedding planning. I am horrible at planning... it is all too stressful for me. After visiting 20+ catering halls i did not fall in love with any of them so i did not pick anything. it is now march and i wanted to get married june of 2006. I dont know how all you girls have so much energy for all this, and it seems like you all do such a great job. I could not even get passed step one. oh well

Oh my! Don't give up! IF you are feeling overwhelmed look into having someone help you get started, there are plenty of event planners that can do the brunt of the work and will help you get through all of the stress. IF that is not an option, sit down with your FI and think about what kind of wedding you want, formal, casual, etc..then go from there! June 2006 is plenty of time to get a beautiful wedding off the ground! Good luck!

Don't give up!!
Trust me, some people look like they've got it all together, and some do, but for most of us, this is the first time we are planning something like this. That's why we are all here, to get help when we need it and to give advice as well.
The hardest part is finding your hall. Once you do that, the rest should fall into place rather easy.
Maybe you can consider hiring a wedding planner, or have a good friend be your go-to person for advice.
We all have our moments when it's all too much, trust me, I have had many, but remember that at the end of it all, this is supposed to be the best day of your life, so be patient, and yes, you will encounter tough situations.
If you would like, I can help you with anything you need. I love planning weddings, I do it for a living, sort of. FM me if you need help.

No, no, no. Don't give up. It is such a stressful time for ALL of us. But you are talking to people who are at completely different phases of the planning with their major stuff over with and some people are just starting. I know its hard to believe but if you are looking at a june 2006 wedding, you really do have plenty of time. If you go the official 2005 thread, the entire list of where all of us are getting married. If you've already seen 20, thats great! They can be crossed off, because I tell you, if long island has nothing, it has a place for everyone. Have you and your FH sat down and talked about the type of reception you're both imagining? On a water? Outside? Inside with a large dancefloor?
We are all here to help and if there are any ideas you want to bounce off of us, we'd love to do it. Wedding planning is not fun all the time (ITS DEFINITELY NOT ) but once you get through the major vendor shopping you may find that you stuck with it to plan the wedding of your dreams!.

You can't give up. We won't let you Lets try to make this easier, shall we. Post what halls you have seen... are there any that had SOME potential??? We can help you out by telling you our pro's and con's on them.....Once you get the hall/ceremony site, the rest will fall into place, trust me. THats the most important decision, and being that you already looked at most of them out there.. you are very ahead of the game. The rest is just details...
Come on... give it a shot won't you??? We're all here.. it's rainy out.. no one really wants to do anything else.... We're all on here all the time anyway???!! Give us something to do:)

Don't give up. You have so much time. Take it slow - go at your own pace - one project at a time. You'll be fine. This is certainly a journey, try to enjoy it a little.

I felt the same way when I was looking or halls. Then we found the pavillion at the Snapper Inn. It is a huge open air pavillion(it has soft tent sides that roll down in case of rain) It looks like a huge southern porch. There are chandeliers throughout and it has it's own bathrooms. It sits on the Connetquot River and is just beautiful I am getting married there June 18th. They are online at thesnapperinn.com and pics in bio

Don't give up--where did you look maybe we can help you and be your support. I know it can be very overwhelming and all the seem like they are giving you the same thing. Did you like any of them and why didn't you like the other ones. Also what are you looking for I am sure that between all the girls on this site we can find you a place.
Hang in there it will all work out!

Oh no, don't give up!
If it makes you feel better, we didn't fall in love with any particluar hall either. But we found one that was very nice and fit in our budget and the people we're great who we met with..and we went with them.
If I kept waiting to fall in love with 'the one' I would never have ever had a hall or even a dress!! I'd be naked and having my reception in the church parking lot!

Re: I give up!
DH and I looked at 35 halls from Montauk to Manhattan before finally finding Giorgios! Don't look at it as being stressful - this planning part should be fun and exciting! Maybe take a little break from it and start again in a week or two. Don't limit yourself to area and start looking a little further. What's important to you in a hall?

Re: I give up!
Definitely don't give up. You have plenty of time. If it makes you feel better, when we first started planning our wedding it was supposed to be in the DC area (where we met and live now) and I was getting soooo depressed trying to find something I liked. When I actually did and was getting ready to sign a contract, the place got hit with permit problems by the county (had a residential permit vs. a commercial--- ughhhh). Anywho, after that I gave up on DC and was looking at his home town, a destination wedding at the Outerbanks in NC, etc. I was considering everything halls, tents, etc. Finally got so frustrated, that I just had my mom go on the hunt up there. I just looked at pics and put my faith in her (I know some people would think I'm crazy to book without seeing, but it was too hard at the time for me to get up there).
All in all everything is now coming together. I've even been getting more excited for where we're getting married cause of their recent renovations, but for awhile I was nervous until I saw it.
Anywho....you will find that perfect place. Just keep the faith

Re: I give up!
I hear you... I think compromise is key. I though i would walk in somewhere and fall in love and say 'this is it!' it didnt happen. so i booked the best that i saw (in my opinion, for what i was looking for) i dont think anything will ever be 'perfect' and you might need to get over that. i am booking from Boston, so only had a three day weekend to decide. that helped b/c i gave myself a deadline so the decision was not dragging. try not to stress too much.
