Re: I'm honeymooning in HAWAII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mrs May !!!!!! How exciting !!!!!!! I think we'll be together 1 day. I wouldn't mind meeting, but i don't know if our FHs will want to share us on our HM.
HappyBride : please tell me more, I'm absolutely begging !!!!
How were the rooms? Are they spacious? Should I bother upgrading? I heard they upgrade most honeymooners anyway. Right now I'm priced for MountainView. What is your opinion on this?7-11. Hyatt Hopper offers discounts on the pricing b/c you're preferred since you're staying with them at more than one island. I got a GREAT price quote, better than anywhere else. Metphan gave me her TA's info, and I am forever grateful. Would you like it? Let me know and I will send you forum mail.
I LOVE when this thread resurfaces. I LOVE talking about our Honeymoons !!! Makes me all excited all over again !!!!

Re: I'm honeymooning in HAWAII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just got back from Hawaii less than two weeks ago. We stayed in Maui at the Hyatt most of the trip. We booked an ocean view room and were upgraded to an ocean front room. We were on the 20th floor overlooking the ocean. It was so beautiful! It is a very nice hotel. There wasnt alot going on at night, but Lahaina is only a 5 minute ride and there are restaurants and nightlife there. If anyone has any questions, please let me know.

Re: I'm honeymooning in HAWAII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ooooh Cindy !!!!! CONGRATS !!!!!!!Questions, oooh yes, we love asking questions !!
First one from me:
How are the activites in the daytime. Did you take any road trips like to Hanna? If so, how was it? I'm a chicken on the road if it involves cliffs. Is Hanna a bad idea for me?
Also, did you go to any luais (sp?) How were they?
And lastly. . .
What was your best and worst restaurant experience?
THANKS, Sorry for being a brat !!

Re: I'm honeymooning in HAWAII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Lizlen,I hope I can help. We did the road to Hana. It is a whole day because of stopping, etc and then driving back. It wasnt as bad as they make it to be. There are very sharp curves. I forget how many they said there were. We rented a car the whole time in Maui. I highly recommend that. You do need to drive to alot of places and the cab will add up. We did the Hyatt luau. It was good. Supposedly the Hyatt and The Lahaina Luau was the best. The luau was very commercialized though. What I do recommend is a helecopter tour. I am very glad we did that. You actually get to see places on the island that you cant physically get to. The restaurants I defintely recommend is David Pauls Grill in Lahaina, Plantation House in Kapalua and IO'S in Lahaina. Those were my favorite restaurants. We did go out almost every night to eat. We bought the fodors and frommers book as a guideline and that really helped us. Oh, if you want a really good drink, dont forget to try a Lahaina Lemonade. They were so good! Hope I helped a little.

Re: I'm honeymooning in HAWAII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anytime! We are very into good restaurants so the ones I gave you are pretty much the nicest. There are alot of nice restaurants there and also casual too. We also took a sunset cruise for two hours with the gemini company. It leaves the westin on kaanapali beach. You get appitizers and drinks included. We both felt it was a rip off. All we did was sail in front of Kaanapali beach and it was the same to us as the view from our room. Just something else I thought of.

Re: I'm honeymooning in HAWAII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lizlen, I honeymooned in Hawaii in May 2001...on Maui, definitely do the helicopter ride and definitely do the sunrise/bike tour of the volcano. You watch the sunrise up at the top then bike down the mountain! Or if you are nervous about the bike down (which is really easy) you can just do the bus tour for sunrise...so romantic and genuinely awe inspiring! Maui is gorgeous -- you will LOVE it! I went to the luau at the Hyatt - nice but very commercial...I am so JEALOUS!!!! We actually flew first class because my 6'4' husband said there was no way he was flying for that long to be a pretzel at the end of the trip!! Well worth the money! But make sure you tell EVERYONE you are on your honeymoon - you can get upgrades. We got upgraded in our hotel to an even better room than the one we booked (which was pretty nice!)...I can't say it enough how JEALOUS I am!! Wish I was on my way back!! Have fun!

Re: I'm honeymooning in HAWAII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Lee !!!!So nice to hear from someone who's been there already. I for sure plan on the helicopter ride, and I will LOVE todo the sunset bike tour, I love riding !!!! I won't be afraid to ride down, LOL
My FH is also 6'4'. We're always begging for an isle seat, he's always so uncomfortable. I hadn't thought about that yet. Was the upgrade to 1st class expensive?

Re: I'm honeymooning in HAWAII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, to be honest, because he was so adamant about it -- and he really wanted to go to Hawaii -- we booked first class tickets as part of our package. They were expensive, but well worth it. I would talk to your TA about upgrades or using mileage or something. It's not a necessity, but if he's tall, he will appreciate it when you get there believe me...it is a very long time on the plane!! Maybe your TA can get the upgrade as part of your whole package? I think that's what my TA did - bought the tix in that class as part of the package. We didn't go first class inter-island, just there and back...the inter-island flights are so quick it's laughable! We figured hey, it's our honeymoon - first class all the way! If you don't get first class, definitely make sure you request bulkhead, exit row, or an aisle seat for him! He'll need it. I've heard of airlines upgrading honeymooners on the spot if you get there early enough and there is room...

Lee, you are too funny
I told my FH about your FIRST class, and he ran with it, lol. He says we MUST fly to Hawaii first class, so we can be comfortable, so I guess that settles that. YAY !!!!!!!

Re: I'm honeymooning in HAWAII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, it's our honeymoon, I guess if we don't fly 1st class now, when will we???? And it must be worth it to be comfortable when you're flying so long. I didnt book yet, I'm booking as soon as the TA comes back from vacation. It is Probably a little more expensive, for Friday and Saturday. We're flying home on Wednesday the 11th I think. We're staying 10 nights total.

Re: I'm honeymooning in HAWAII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY Lizlen!! You will LOVE all that time in first class. Believe me, you and especially your tall hubby will be very happy you sprung for those tickets! Totally worth it! I'm so exicted for you!! We did the 'we may as well do it now' logic too! The only thing that's a bummer is it is SOOO hard to go back to coach class after that
!! I'm still jealous...

Re: I'm honeymooning in HAWAII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just thought I'd chime in!Got married July 20th and honeymooned in Hawaii. Kauai, Maui, and Oahu.
Kauai was by far our favorite - do the helicopter ride on this island! Also loved The Beach House restaurant in Poipu - so great!!!!
Stayed at the Radisson & LOVED it. Very inexpensive but great views, nice (simple) rooms, and saved money to do all sorts of other stuff - including rent a convertible - so worth it!!!
Maui was too busy for us - traffic, construction, ect. but we still had a great time. Road to Hana was fun & adventurous. Took us 12 hours door-to-door. Old Lahaina Luau we thought was so touristy but we had to do it once. Wouldn't do it again & don't really recommend it. Mama's Fish House was the BEST restaurant we went to. Go for sunset.
Sunrise at Haleakala is a must do - bring plenty of film. We drove up ourselves - no bike tour for us.
We stayed at the Kea Lani which was fabulous!
I love talking about Hawaii so ask any questions if you have them!
lizlen - glad you were able to switch to the Hyatt in Maui. It's gorgeous. 100 times nicer than the KBH (IMHO) - you will be so relieved when you see the difference. It was really worn out - in need of a serious face-lift! We explored a lot on both islands and saw a lot of the different hotels.

Re: I'm honeymooning in HAWAII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you MMN, for your input, and congrats on your Marraige!!!! YAY !!!!!!Maui - construction???
What kind of construction?? Noone mentioned this before????
I don't plan on doing the Road to Hanna, I'd be afraid, I will hide the idea of it from my FH, if he hears about it, he will want to do it !!!!!
I heard about the helicopter rides, I'm so excited about it !!!!!
Does Kauai have the prettier views??
I'm relieved that you say I made the right decision to switch hotels, I figured, it's my HM, I should go all out !!!
Did you by any chance, make it by the Princeville in Kauai? If so, what was your opinion?
