Virginia - It is warmer there! But also because both my sisters live there. We would have to move somewhat near the coast becuase we would miss the beach too much.

I hear the carolinas are nice, and VA.
Parts of FL I hear don't get humid,,,maybe I'd consider there.

Dream place? Hawaii. Reality? California. It's one if the nicest place I'd want to live, but still quite realstic. Boston is also a great town but even colder than NY in the winter

I was living in CA and I LOVED it. It took about a year for me to get adjusted....all my family and friends are mostly on the east coast, so CA was very far! If it were realistic that we could have afforded a home there, than I would go back in a heartbeat! But, the real estate market in CA (at least in NoCal where we were) was even more insane than Long Island, so here we are

Irishtracy- I would love to move down south too (in love with the towns in Hope Floats, Sweet Home Alabama, etc... i'm a hick at heart!! dad is from Tennessee) but FH doesn't like small 'hick' towns as he calls all of the south!! (he's a putz!) he can't take heat either ... so i have to settle for quaint New England town (hopefully!! )

Tracyg- My husband used to farm in Ireland so he wouldn't mind a small southern town.
But there is more $$$ in construction!

we are actually thinking of moving next year. we are going to North Carolina. we can't wait. we need to get out of here. NY is getting too much for us. not just $$, the traffic, snobby people and a bunch of other things, plus we both love the look of it down there. and 2' of snow is a blizzard to them! (i hate snow, but would never move to Florida)

We moved to San Diego and love it although the housing market is insane. We bought a condo, but eventually want a house. I can't really think of leaving San Diego just because of the weather, people, etc., but lately I have been really thinking about South Carolina, like around Charleston. I was looking at real estate and they have beautiful houses at half the price of twice as small houses here in SAn Diego. Who knows...we moved clear across the country..why not back again??

I really love Long Island, just hate how expensive it is to live here. We always toss around the idea of PA, but then realize we'd have a house but no one to come to it. So for now we are staying put. When we want to have a family & house and all, that's a different story, but we are where our familes are and for now that place is here Not sure I could survive somewhere that is landlocked though--might have to cross PA off the list... lol
My Brother and SIL are looking into Charlotte-it's breaking my heart to think my family would be split by distance (we are extremely close) Not too fond of the south, except for Disney World---JMO--I'd rather go North or West.

FH and I both are from Europe, so defintely want to go back home, no place in america is as good as NY to us, we have a little saying, We are not american but we are definitely New Yorker's
