I'm afraid of my cat......

I'm afraid of my cat......

I've had this little 10 pound ball of fut for 14 years...he was a birthday present from my best friend.
He's never been loving or kind, and has always enjoyed biting and scratching me....
but lately, he (and this sounds crazy) TERRORIZES me when I'm sleeping!!

Every morning, I take a shower and then go back to bed for a little more sleep....well, he climbs into bed with me and then stares at me....i've learned not to let him see my arms above the covers, becasue the sight of my pale flesh incites a rage in him and he attacks me arms. So I wait until he's settled and then i can put my arms above the covers.

But, starting yesterday, hiding my arms wasnt' enough....he tried to attack my head!!! It sound so silly, but I am terrified of him in the morning...I have to trick him and then pick him up and lock him out of the room....

What can I do with this little evil freak of nature????? And does anyone know why he might be behaving like this?

And, he only does this in the morning, during the day, and at night, he leaves me alone and will even curl up next to me on the couch......

SUGGESTIONS??????

Yup, mine bites my hair! He hasn't been the same since he was declawed....No advice, but good luck! I usually close him out of the bedroom to sleep.

I'm thinking he doesn't like your hubby in the bed

we had a cat that would bite my mothers' feet if they weren't under the covers....and only her!

I had a cat like that. He would attack my feet in the morning as I was on the way to the shower. It hurt!! One morning I had to yell for my room mate to pull him off me.

Get a spray bottle & spray water at him. In the end if I even showed my cat the bottle he ran away.

he is declawed...but we had that done when he was much younger, so i dont' think he's reacting to that......it's like his whole personality changed!
oen of my MIL's cats likes to eat and play with hair......this is different....it's like he's out to get me.
the more i think about it, the more freaked out i get!!

he doesn't have a problem with my husband being around.....never even goes near him to bit him! he will seriously sit on top of me and just stare me down with this look on his face that says 'i'm going to eat you'

We declawed mine when he was a year or two, but he has been evil ever since. And when he pulls my hair he pulls so hard it comes out sometimes! And he HATES FH! He bites his legs all the time. Last week FH was running around the living room to get away from Meow, jumping over couches....FH is a 6 feet tall, big guy, so it was funny watching him run in circles with the cat chasing him!

i'd toss him out on his little cat butt!

i'd say he's jealous of tom - but from what you say doesn't sound like it....

bizarre.

It does sounds like your kitty is a twin of Mia (my kitty)

Last thing before we go to sleep, she will scratch and try to bite our toes to shreads.. even through the comforter. We don't DARE expose them, for fear of being injured !!

And after DH leaves in the AM and I'm left by myself in the bed, she jumps on me and will attack any exposed part she can .. not viciously really, just half playful, half relentless.. it gets really annoying though. Gets RIGHT UP in my face also and I swear I think she's about to bite my nose sometimes !! Just about the time I'm ready to get up (after fighting her off for 1 hour) she settles down and lovingly curls up next to me to sleep!!

And Mia doesn't do this any other time of day either.. she mainly ignores or just is loving and affectionate.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh cats.. gotta love 'em (or not!)

i run from him all the time too! it's hysterical to watch!!

it's just strange, because i'm the ONLY person he'll attack! even when i was living at home with him, he'd be sleeping peacefully on my father's lap and as soon as i walked in the door, he's turn vicious

Attack of the mutant kiddie In theatres near you.

Ok seriously, i have had a himalyan (spelling) and she was a Beotch..literaly and personality wise. But we (ex & I) got to see her softer side when we got a kitten. She became very motherly. Maybe he is lonely and is acting out?
Cats are strange creatures..gotta love em.

i would love to think he's lonely and that's why he's acting out, because i would love a kitten....but he's VERY nasty and aggresive when other cats are around.....
almost nastier than he is to me!!!

he's probably hungry...or maybe he has some form of dementia...he's pretty old for a kitty.

That's true, mine is 18 and lately he has been extra crazy.

my cat is 7 and he's been uncharacteristacally cuddly lately...i guess all living things go through different phases/moods/etc...

if you're really concerned, maybe a trip to the vet is in order.

i wonder if it is his age.....that might make sense. the trouble is, i think he's going to live for a lot longer...he shows no signs of slowing down.....

i would bring him to the vet...but i think they're afraid of him!
