I'm afraid of my cat......

Original post by palebride

I've had this little 10 pound ball of fut for 14 years...he was a birthday present from my best friend.
He's never been loving or kind, and has always enjoyed biting and scratching me....
but lately, he (and this sounds crazy) TERRORIZES me when I'm sleeping!!

Every morning, I take a shower and then go back to bed for a little more sleep....well, he climbs into bed with me and then stares at me....i've learned not to let him see my arms above the covers, becasue the sight of my pale flesh incites a rage in him and he attacks me arms. So I wait until he's settled and then i can put my arms above the covers.

But, starting yesterday, hiding my arms wasnt' enough....he tried to attack my head!!! It sound so silly, but I am terrified of him in the morning...I have to trick him and then pick him up and lock him out of the room....

What can I do with this little evil freak of nature????? And does anyone know why he might be behaving like this?

And, he only does this in the morning, during the day, and at night, he leaves me alone and will even curl up next to me on the couch......

SUGGESTIONS??????

my cat is 7 and he's been uncharacteristacally cuddly lately...i guess all living things go through different phases/moods/etc...

if you're really concerned, maybe a trip to the vet is in order.

i wonder if it is his age.....that might make sense. the trouble is, i think he's going to live for a lot longer...he shows no signs of slowing down.....

i would bring him to the vet...but i think they're afraid of him!

OMG what a crazy cat!!!! The vet is scared of him too? I had a not so nice cat too and when we took her to the vet we would always warn them about her nasty streak. She was an angel with them! She made liars out of us!

is it incredibly silly of me to be scared of a 10 pound animal?

Re: I'm afraid of my cat......

This is too funny. Is it hard biting? One of my boys when he was a kitty, used to always go on top of my head every night around 1:30 am and start biting my hair and head. I couldn't understand it. Never touched FH. He was strangly diagnosed with diabetes a few months ago and now is better and has his energy back and now (he is only a year and a few months) he has been jumping on the bed the same time, all throughout the night and finds any little piece of my body hanging out of the covers and nibbles on it. It's playful, but when you are sleeping it really hurts! I have to tuck my whole body under the covers and lay still, even if it is hot out and he looks for any part of me moving and jumps on it. It is only with me. But he'll also plop next to me and nap and pur like crazy. CATS!!!

Re: I'm afraid of my cat......

oh Gunnar is not playing....he's biting for real! he wants to cause pain!!!! and i don't even have to be moving...i'll be perfectly still and he'll attack!

it's just ironic, because in 14 years, he has NEVER bitten my face, or any other face....up until yesterday! That was his ONE good quality!!! no matter how evil he could be to arms and legs...the face was off-limits......now his best quality is that he sleeps a lot, so that means he's not biting me

Re: I'm afraid of my cat......

This thread really made my day. I think it is so funny. But I know where you are coming from. I used to hear his little collar jingle when he jumped on the bed and I knew he was coming for my head. I just didn't get it. And I'd move him away and he'd come right back. I wish we could tune in to what they are thinking during those times.

See the little innocent looking peanut on the left side???? Well, now he's a 13 pound heavy young boy. When he jumps on me he uses all his weight too. My other one is like a feather.
