Instead of gift registry, can we do a honeymoon registry?

Original post by garrett678

Since we are short of funds and don't need too many things gift-wise, we would like to have our guests give us money towards our honeymoon.

Does a honeymoon registry sound bad? Can we ask people to bring checks or paypal?

We are thinking of going to either Costa rica or Greece.

I did traveler's joy and really liked it. The site has very cute icons for each item, plus you have a home page.
People really felt like they were buying us something specific.
We did have a gift registry as well.
TJ does charge a fee, but for us, it was well worth it.

Not sure if anyone said this yet, but if you go through Liberty Travel, they do a HM Registry through them. So people call up your travel agent directly and give them the money.

I knew someone who did a honeymoon registry and personally I think it is in bad taste. You are basically just asking people to send you a check to pay for your honeymoon. Not high class at all.

i disagree 100%. I feel quite the opposite. And you aren't asking people to pay for the HM.. that part you are paying for.. it's for excursions and dinners and stuff.
