Re: IS ANYONE GOING TO
if it is financially possible, than yes I would love to stay home and raise my children.
My mother did it, but as soon as my younger brother was in school, she realized my family could use the extra money and went back to work.
we were never in day care or anything.. my father worked midnights and my mother worked days for a while when we were kids.. so when my mom dropped us off, my dad picked us up.
it is something that we will have to determine when it comes time to have kids.

Re: IS ANYONE GOING TO
Sorry if my venting sounded mean, the center I worked at just got a new boss who was by the book and all about the money (my old boss tried to put the kids first even though corporate gave her a hard time) it actually drove me to quit because I couldn't handle not being able to put the kids first so right now and since last Friday I am unemployed. When my old boss was there it wasn't such a bad place

Re: IS ANYONE GOING TO
Fh makes enough to cover the bills and by then it will be even better, but its like Tilde said its a different lifestyle and that extra income will make it even easier and a better lifestyle...Schools are expensive now, my parents friends are paying SOOO much just for their sons elementary school, tuition went up and just everything else in general...Mortgages, insurance, car payments, just the cost of living is alot...Can Fh handle it yes but it wont be the same with a whole other income coming in.

Re: IS ANYONE GOING TO
no ... even if we could afford to i wouldn't i love to work .. now if i can work from home which is possible then maybe i would ... but i make more money so i would def. need to still work ... FH would like stay home but again even if we could afford i wouldnt want him to ... i am a very strong believer that both parents should have a job so there always money coming in from both ends ... the reason i feel this way what happens if one of us loses are jobs if the other person is working then theres no money coming in ... when both work if one loses a job at least well have some money ... also i feel its to much pressure for one person to have to make sure they are bringing in all the money and providing for the family allt he pressure could leas to worse things ... JMO ...

I think I'd go crazy if I stopped working completely...I'll probably start my own business and base it out of my house once we have kids...

Re: IS ANYONE GOING TO
That would be the ideal situation... I would love to stay home and raise our children. Who knows where we will be financially or career-wise when that time comes.
I don't necessarily agree about the daycare thing though. I worked in daycare for 4 years (it was a privately-owned daycare only open to employees of specific companies) and think it's a great option if you have it and can afford it (cuz daaaamn is it expensive). I think, especially in those crucial years when kids are developing mentally and socially it's a great environment to be in. In our infant rooms we were only allowed 4 to 1 as well (like mentioned earlier, it's the law), but unlike other rooms that have defininite schedules, the parents make up the schedules for the infants, so usually each babies schedule was different and their feeding and sleeping were staggered, also there was NEVER only 1 person in an infant room.
WOAH, did I just go off on a crazy tangent. Like I said though, daycare is a great option if you can afford it and know exactly what you're looking for. There are horror stories out there.

Not sure yet, but my mom lives about 3 miles from us and is more than willing to watch our future children so it is a great situation

Re: IS ANYONE GOING TO
Not too sure yet... I know when the time comes I will want to to stay home! If I do work at all I know it will definately be part time. As long as we wait the couple of years after marriage so that we are ok financially then I can do it. I also need to find out what the minimum work I would have to do to maintain my pharmacy liscence would be! This is why I'd like to move back to Long Island though when we plan to start our family, my mom would definately help us out if I needed to work!
