Is Anyone NOT Registering for Formal China?

Is Anyone NOT Registering for Formal China?

I am considering taking my $109 per place setting china off my registry and going for a less expensive setting and registering for a set instead.

Is anyone not registering for formal china, and doing a set or nothing at all?

No China for me...I live in a small apartment in which we are saving for our house and first of all I will have no place to put it and secondly I only entertain people in our backyard where I obviously wont whip out my China...fine China will be my mom's gift to me when we get our house...

ETA: I have a nice Sango Nova blue plate set right now and everything to match it so Im keeping that...

I registered and have gotten one place setting so far, as well as all my glassware. I am thinking about taking this off my registry. It seems silly considering we live in a tiny apt and arent going to have a house any time soon.

I don't know what I am going to do - I think that I might hold off on it ....I know that were going to buy a condo but not knowing the lay-out I don't know if I will have a china cabinet

My mother told me if I don't then she will just buy it for me when we buy a house in a few years -

No formal china for me either. I need 16 place settings of everyday so we chose a nice versatile everday setting instead.

Also, I will have two teenage step-daughters who aren't very good about taking care of nice things. I don't want to see all of the nice china broken.

I am not I inherited my Grandma's fine china, it is all stored away. I already have my everyday china.

We registered for china, but it was really inexpensive. On sale in Macy's it was $35! Needless to say, all of the place settings have been bought at that price. That is the only reason why I registered for it. We didn't register for everyday china because we like our plates that we have now. I have Gibson cobalt blue everyday dishes.

I'm not really that into China. I want a few nice crystal wine glasses, but no formal dinnerware.

no china here. we are planning to register for an all white casual set, which we would use for company and a more modern/fun one for every day. we haven't decided on which yet, but i am liking this from villeroy and bach...

I didn't just because I was given my grandma's china that she used maybe 10 times in the 50+ years she was married

I don't want China, but everyone is on my case about it. I don't think it is necessary and would rather the gift be something more useful for us.

PS> I bought the Sango Nova blue set yesterday. Love it. Good choice.

For me its the opposite...I wanted a set and then everyone talked me out of it...

I have Libby's light blue glasses to match the set as well...I just have to register for new flatware...no clue what kind...I have to go in person and check them out. What kind did you register for Tina?

we chose not to have a formal set and just registered for a casual set. my mom gave me grief about not having something for 'holiday' dinners but realistically, i doubt we'd use them anyway.

I understand Christine, I'm thinking of taking mine off too, we're not really going to use them, and I'd prefer everyday dinnerware. I'm still debating too.
