Ivory BM Dresses

Original post by evita2781

How does everybody feel about this? I went w/ my girls to go BM dress shopping this weekend and found these dresses. I love them - and they all do to but the yellow that it comes in is HIDEOUS and this just looked gorgeous on them (color i mean). Do you girls think that I should opt for a different color??? I feel like I would be fine with it but I have others that are saying taht i should stand out. Ppl should know who the bride is - MEEEEEEEEE!

Evita...

I think you should do WHAT YOU WANT!!!
THIS IS YOUR WEDDINg...
YOU ARE PAYIN FOR IT SO U GET TO DO WHAT U WANT...

I think regardless of the color you do, YOU WILL ALWAYS STAND OUT....

How DO YOU FEEL about having the BP in Ivory?

i felt fine with it in the store but i'm getting so many ppl telling me that i need to stand out...and now the whole picture thing. oh i dont know what to do

I had this one idea that I LOVED- it was something about flowers. And I was SURE I was going to do it. And then my big sister (soinloverwe2) pointed out a few issues with that. And at first, I was SO discouraged. But after I really thought about it, and applied what she thought and looked at pictures, I realized that she was totally right. What I thought was such a great idea in theory just did not transfer well in practice.

And remember, when you loved it in the store, you loved it while 3 of your friends were looking GREAT in them. Not while you were standing next to them in your wedding gown, you know?

but bottom line- do what you love and what you want. you may find that after thinking about it, that is exactly how you want you wedding to look.

my idea was girls in yellow with fuschia flowers. I love thebold ness of it. Maybe I can switch the dress color with the flowers cuz the fuschia for this line is very nice still. I just thought it would be almost too much. It is really bright

I LOVE the idea of the fuschia dresses with the yellowish flowers. It is bold while still being elegant!!! As much as people are going to obviously know who the bride is, the pictures may end up looking a little too uniform if you get the ivory. They are BEAUTIFUL, but I think you may regret it a few months down the line. Oh and you are in the summer, so that fuschia/yellow combo will look AMAZING!!!!!

Something similar happened to me. I couldn't find the purple color I had in my head, so I just switched around my color scheme and I actually love it so much more!

i really don't want to change my color scheme that's why i'm trying to play around with switching the dresses to fuschia. so i'm hoping that the fuschia dress, they call it hot pink for bari jay and it's not as dark as i would like, looks nice.

my sister was like - don't u think like 5 years down the road, you're going to regret all that pink in your pics? I think it looks nice...oh i dont know anymore

Oh well yeah that is what I mean. I just switched the colors around WITHIN my color scheme(didn't change what I wanted)- the same way you are contemplating with the flowers and dresses.

I had to find a designer who made the colors I was going for and then picked a dress. It was just easier that way. I do not think you will regret the pink if it is something that you really like. If not, maybe you should keep looking for a designer that makes the colors you want?

gotcha! yea i think i might end up switching the colors around the flowers and dress and im really going to try to stick with bari jay - it's more affordable and i like their dresses. I'm dragging one of my BM's to another store to try on a different dress and color. good thing i have 7 so this way i can drag them in one by one since it looks like i'll be going a few more times to look for dresses!

Re: Ivory BM Dresses

I think the dresses are gorgeous. You want them to wear it - then go for it.

It's not a big deal if the BM wear white if the bride approves- they are part of your day and look like your surrounded by angels :)

the day is about you NO MATTER WHAT.

No one else wearing white is also a very 'american' tradition. At my girlfriends wedding- lots of people wore white, no one was offended because it's not in their culture to care. It's like they are paying homage to your day

If it makes you happy- then SC rew everyone else :) LOL
