Re: Jewish Brides
Customization took 2-3 weeks. I'd ask the people at the store, b/c it could vary based on the artist.Shelly, I didn't know you could get the text in Hebrew. I always thought it was automatically aramaic.

Re: Jewish Brides
Nope. Every place I checked (online at least) had the text in Hebrew and then you can chose in Orthodox, Conservative or reform.ETA: At least I think its Hebrew- I will check that out. We are going Ketubah shopping this weekend.

Re: Jewish Brides
Yes, Jann, I think the Horah comes right after the first dance. Ask your DJ - they should know.

how many of you are having a kosher wedding?
if you are not having a kosher wedding but are having a few glatt kosher meals brought in, what are you doing about plates and utensils? where is it being catered from? are you doing anything special for your cocktail hour for those guests? any help is greatly appreciated!

What's a Horah and what is a motzi?![]()
The Horah is the traditional celebratory dance done at Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and weddings. Everyone dances in a circle around the bride and groom and their families and the bride and groom are lifted in chairs above everyone.
The motzi (not sure if I'm spelling that right or not), is the blessing over the challah prior to the meal.

Re: Jewish Brides
We're not having a kosher wedding. The only people in the family who are kosher are super orthodox and probably wouldn;t support our wedding anyway, and they woudlnt come unless it was in a real kosher place, and they're not that close and so I don't need to choose my hall based on 3 people. There may be one person, but we're gonna order in a dinner for him if he comes. We're going to get a totally customized egalitarian ketubah...am I all cuaght up now? it's so hard ot follow these threads.

Re: Jewish Brides
Oh, also as I mentioned we may have a few meals brought in, but I don't know fomr where yet. Since the food will be hot, it must be served on kosher plates, so they'll probably eat from whatever container and utensils are provided with the take out. Drink, theoretically should be ok since they are cold and being served in cold, clean, vessels. However, I'd provide bottled water in case. the place you get it fomr should be able to help you out with that. Also, if these people are really kosher and rorthodox, they may not even come to your wedding. FH has orthodox cousins and they won't attend any party, even if kosher food is brought in, if it's not a kosher place, among other reasons, because seeing them go in there gives a message that the palce is kosher, or something? So I'd check! Good luck! Let us know what you find out

Re: Jewish Brides
Jax430- you were right. Ketubahs (other than reformed) are in Aramaic. I never knew that.We are having a kosher wedding, but not Glatt. There are only 2 couples that this may be an issue for, but what can I do? We are about to start keeping a kosher home. I grew up in one- FH grew up in Israel in a secular home.
