Lands End vs Flowerfield

Original post by Belongs2DanBuckley

I REALLY CAN'T DECIDE!!!!

My parents liked FF better, his father liked LE...the two of us are so torn...we're turning it over to you girls...HELP!!!!!!

3rd choice is North Ritz Club...I'm including it in the poll because I'm going crazy

Re: Lands End vs Flowerfield

Thank you everyone....its so tough....right now everything is dead even....on one hand my FFIL thought that LE was laid out better, but obviously the atrium is the seller for FF. My parents thought nit would give people more to talk about. I found FF when i went to school at stony brook cand I saw it in the summer when the flowers were in bloom. I'm an environmental scientist...I LOVE THE WATER (grew up in Long Beach) and Obviously i love flowers and trees...I kinda feel like there are good points about both. I really like the tropical rainforest vibe and I like the comfort of the ballroom of FF with the lights, but FH loves the space in LE and how everyone is in front of you instead of to the left and right....I don't know...
I'm going nuts... I don't know if I should look at other places or what...any suggestions???

I've only been to Flowerfield and absolutely loved it. I would've had my reception there but my cousin is getting married there this year before me.

I say flowerfield, if I could afford it that is absolutely hands down where it would be (and FH agrees) they do an awesome job and it's so beautiful there

Both are beautiful, but my votes for Flowerfield it's so different

Land's End was gorgeous, but out of our price range. Flowerfields is too far east for FH's family, so we didn't get to look at it, but I have been to a wedding and a prom there, and they are amazing. Either choice you make, you will have a gorgeous wedding.

I dont think you can go wrong either way.

Honestly, I don't know the pricing for either...but I if I couldn't decide on which one to pick, I'd pick the cheaper one!

Its a win-win situation.

Do you have a gut feeling?

Re: Lands End vs Flowerfield

I was ALL FOR FF, but now I don't know. I like certain things about both...i think my FH might like lands end a little better. Right now we're looking at 2 dates:

Friday May 23, 2008 @ FF for $145pp w/ vienese +1/2 hour added onto the reception (175 guar.)

and

Saturday May 24, 2008 @LE for $160pp w/o add-ons....base price- we haven't started negotiating yet (160 guar.)

Its a tough call...then we were thinking of maybe NRC to save some $$ and just take pics at old westbury gardens but its not really the same....don't get me wrong its beautiful and I LOVE the ballroom but i HATE the fact that its right on Jericho tpk- JMO...its just me cuz i'm nuts and no one will ever F***ing notice but its me

We loved Lands End-just upon seeing it. I have heard great things about both. Go with your gut and do what I always say......throw the names in a hat.

May 24, 2008 is already booked at FF?? Are u getting married there or at a church, that is what made the decision for us...LE has really no indoor ceremony area...whereas the atrium at FF is ure other option...i don't evny ure decision girl!

I just read your most recent post where you mentioned the pictures. Believe me, I had the same hesitation with NRC b/c of Jericho Tnpk...I kept joking about having the Nissan sign in the back of my pics...but I have seen outdoor pics there and they put up so much foliage you can't even tell. Don't let that hold you up. Also, keep in mind, if it rains on your day (God forbid!) outdoor pics are not happening anywhere. I'll add my additional 2 cents as to the pros and cons of each:
FF
Pro: very unique cocktail hour room...guests will always talk about it.
Con: The ballroom, IMO, is kind of blah after leaving the atrium.

LE:
Pro: outstanding water views
Con: If it rains, a lot is lost particularly the outside CH which is part of its charm

NRC:
Pro: good price for what you get, nice ballroom
Con: Not enough seating for CH (even though they tell you there is) and it's not as unique of a venue as the other two.

Pro about NRC v. Lovin Oven: they will negotiate with you. There was very little negotiation with either LE or FF when I was looking.

Yeah its really tough...it keeps going back and forth on the poll...

We're getting married in Massapequa at Our Lady of Lourdes...

may 24 is not taken but it is $180 pp for a 185 guar. which is waaaaaaaaaay out of our budget....we're paying for everything ourselves so its really hard....IDK... it seems like both places have their charm...i was hoping to be swayed more in one direction but its just not happening LOL

The girls on here have good points..

a MAJOR con i think is about the FF ballroom being blah.. that is where you'll be the majority of the night, all pix taken there etc... CH room, awesome that is nice, but its only 1 hour and you will only be in there for a 1/2 hour if you choose to be, and really no pix will be taken etc... For the $$$ that is NOT worth it... but then again i might have a different opinion after tonight

Re: Lands End vs Flowerfield

the only thing is i dont really mind the ballroom....i thought it was beautiful. I'v seen pics and i think it photographs well...it is a little plain compared to some others but with the flowers and everything i think its still really pretty...

I don't see how the ballroom is bla?
Yes the atrium is different, thats what shocks people when they walk in, but our ballroom looked out of this world all set up!
