It seems like since I got enagaed people have said the stupidest things to me ....
1.Why a 2 year engagment?
2. Why can't we have beer in the bottles ?
3.That does not look like calligraphy, it looks like computer art!
4.You send out your invites on the early side... March is so far away! (Hello- we are half way thru January!)

Feel free to add on, this may be fun! And a good way to vent!

The biggest ones for me

1) MOH ' I wanna be different'
hello I am paying for all your dresses either offer to pay for it or calm down.

2) Aunt- 'Why are you wasting all that money getting married in NY when you could come to Trinidad and have REAL ball.'

First of all how am I supposed to fly 50 poeple to a Caribbean island to watch me get married. Second of all she is one of like 10 family members I have that still live there, defintely not worth the trip. Third of all, I will be having a REAL ball as long as I am marrying FH.

Geez, it takes the will of God not to smack people sometimes.

PS - I have also gotten the, is the diamond real ?
( Like Fh and I are dirt poor...what are people thinking)

RE: getting married on the first day of summer....and that it's a Tues.
When I mentioned it was b/c it's the summer solstice and she said...'Oh...I'm sorry!'
Like we are some sort of pagans.
He asked me on the winter solstice (the darkest day of the year). It then made the darkest day of the year into the happiest, brightest day of the year for me! SO we want it on the longest day of the year...so what? It was FH's idea anyhow, and I'm so cool with it. It got me a great deal with the hall! Anyone who cares will be there anyhow.

mind you May 1st is the wedding date so invites aren't even out yet...

um hello... did u get your invitation yet? how are you even sure your invited? how do you know you'll be invited with a guest?
DUH!!!

person told MOH the same thing and she actually had the b*lls to say 'oh you got your invite already?'.... gotta love the MOH!

i saw some really good ones on here. I'm so glad that you girls get asked the dumb questions too!

NO you heffa, it's platinum! YES, FH saved so that he could afford it.

I recently got from a co-worker.... 'Okay so, I need to figure out what I'm wearing to your wedding. Won't it be windy on a boat?'

Okay.... well... ummmm... WHO INVITED YOU!!! I hadn't planned to do the whole HR Department!

God love people... sometimes... they're just clueless.

Yes jerk off, becaue I want one. If you get the band to not charge thier usual $8000 fee, you are more than welcomed to be my entertainment. Even though I did get a discount, it was still insane.

Not my own, but I thought I'd share it. I sit next to an uber-biotch at work, and there was this other girl in the office who got married last spring. The chick I sit next to said to her 'Why on earth am I not in your BP?' And the bride said 'I don't know.' What a question, considering that she's not very well liked in the office, and I don't even think she was invited to this girl's wedding in the first place!!!

I went dress shopping with my mother and she said I thought that you asked me to come so I would pay for your dress!!!! I thought that it would be nice if she was there to SEE IT
Why aren't you getting married in a church your missing out on all the pictures...I did not know that cameras don't work anywhere else.
When talking to my parents about $$ my mother told me we are only giving you $2...needless to say they are not paying for alot.
I have a thing about music, spare no expensive, Everyone has said why are you having so many different types of music b/c i want too I am having ceremony music, a piano player for the CH, DJ and professional singer for the Rec. I dont thing thats unreasonable.
My mother in law wants to know why my parents are not paying for everything. She said that she has paid for daughters wedding. that was about 10 years ago.She only had 1 daughter to pay for. My parents have 2 girls to pay for.
I am sure there are more stupid things but I cant concentrate right now...this just got me mad again

Are you planning children right away? (the day after my engagement - from my boss!)

Is that an heirloom diamond on the only size he could afford (1 1/2 carats with total of 1 carat on sides - georgous ring!)

I prefer a simpler, sweetheart diamond. (who asked you!)

You're wedding will never be as fun as Shannon's was (13 years ago, and the only good time she remembers!)

You're too old to have a bridal party - if you have more than a MOH it will look like a circus!

Just fing the cheapest dress you can find - you are only wearing it for one day anyway!

It's amazing how many stupid things people say!

I thought of some more good ones...
When we first got engaged I told my FILs that I wanted to get them together my my parents, and my FMIL said 'Oh Monica wants me to meet her parents too, so whatever happens first.' Monica is my FH's twin brother's girlfriend. They're not even engaged!?
Then his aunts were asking if we were going to have a big wedding and I said probably around 200 and my FMIL said, 'Oh Danny and Monica want a small wedding.' You'd think that my FMIL likes Monica better, but the funny thing is, she totally doesn't. lol! She just doesn't know how to handle certain things and she usually doesn't say the most appropriate things. The only thing that makes me feel better about it is that she does it to everyone.

I'm from Westchester so I get a lot of 'why Long Island?' Well for starters, I didn't really want to have my wedding at the same places that I've been to for many other functions. Secondly, The Crescent is only a 45 minute ride from where I live. And third, no one seems to mind driving to Jones Beach or Robert Moses to lay in the sun, so I don't really care to hear people's B/S about the ride to my wedding.

Oh, I have an even better one... We just attended our friends wedding in Jamaica (it cost me and FH about $3000). We were thinking of getting married Labor Day weekend and when my FH told his friend, he said that they may not be able to make it. They're going to Italy for 2 weeks, I think they could plan to be home on time for our wedding considering that we flew to Jamaica for theirs. I couldn't believe the nerve!

I'm also from Westchester, so I get the SAME COMMENT CONSTANTLY!!!!!! My answer is simply that FH hubby used to live in East Northport, his family still does, and his church is right there ...

THEN I get 'well you are supposed to get married in the BRIDE's CHURCH ?!?!?

(I am a non-practicing Catholic, and he is Greek Orthodox ... like his church better)

my mother told me I was sending my invites too early (they were early, I couldn't wait!), my paternal grandma (the only one left) had the audacity to tell me to NOT sit my real mother with her (NOW WHY WOULD I DO THAT!!?) and she is trying to tell me to put my aunt and uncle with all their daughters so that they can isolate themselves from everyone else (like they do in real life....they didn't do that for us at their weddings, why should I do that for them???)
