that you indulge yourself with now. Here's my towel story!!! My family was poor. Mom stretched the towels to the limits, giving new meaning to the word, 'washrag'!!!! So, now I have a linen closet filled with beautiful towels!!! Since my DH, ruins washcloths/towels, with the dirt he gathers at work, I buy all white cloths/towels for him, so I can bleach them!!! Sadly, they still don't come clean!!!! Mary MOB

LMAO oh man did this question bring back memories!!!!
My mom was a nut when it came to papertowels. she INSISTED we cut them in half instead of using a whole sheet of Bounty.
Now, I use the whole sheet!

I just wish paper towel companies would make prettier paper towels!!!!! Bounty did, a few yrs. ago, and then it seemed, all the pretty stuff stopped; Today, I can find 'some' pretty ones. I like to sort through the Sparkles, to find the lavedar flowers/butterflies, and the cute ice cream themed ones!!!!! Mary MOB

Re: Name something you didn't have as a child,
Definitely soda (not that I drink it often, but it's nice to splurge when I'm having a hot dog or something, haha) and also CABLE! (Yes, my parents didn't have cable growing up because they were nervous we'd all watch too much tv)...so instead we did Arts & Crafts til the cows came home! haha

Re: Name something you didn't have as a child,
white rice... it may sound silly but when I was little my mom used to put white rice in a cup and what ever fit there was all the amount I could eat in each meal (we are dominican so must of our main meals come with white rice). I love white rice and I love that I can just serve myself as much as I want

Amber I think I can count on one hand, how many vacations I went on while still living at home. I remember our family traveling to Ft. Bragg, when my Brother was in Basic Training. I remember sitting in our hotel room, helping my Brother memorize all the chain of command guys, from President on down. Mary MOB

We weren't allowed to watch what my mom thought was 'smutty' tv shows... Married with Children, Melrose Place... even 90210 until we were in junior high!

I have to say the same thing. My family never goes on vacation. My honeymoon will be the first time I get on a plane! The only vacations I have been on are to Florida with FH and his family and we drive because he has a very large family. Camping is another vacation we take but we just drive upstate. I would love to travel more!

Re: Name something you didn't have as a child,
it's sad to say.....but i got everything i wanted. Seriously..w/e it was..i got it-yes i was a very spoiled child but my parents had the money. I had a trampoline, did gymnastics, dance, went on vacations etc.. BUT NOW....it's completely the opposite and i work hard for everything i have. I no longer get handouts and haven't for years. I'm very grateful for the things i got to experience and extrememely thankful that my parents were able to provide for me like that.

Im with you! I wasnt spoiled but I had cable when I was in the 3rd grade... a cell phone in 1994..beepers (remember those?)... dial up internet on my 'then' 3000 dollar computer LOL...that my mom didnt realize she was getting ripped off for. I was able to eat pretty much what i wanted...but was always thankful and grateful for everything. My parents didnt have a lot of money but always lived comfortably! My favorite memories are teh trips to disney, slumber parties, and christmas... I do remember my sister was so disappointed one year bc my parents wouldnt buy her the new kids on the block sleeping bag LOL... we still talk about that till this day.
