need furniture advice- bed questions.... am I blonde- also want a metal bed but Pottery Barn is so $$$$

ok, I'm shopping for a new bed... I have had the same IKEA bed for 5 years Time for a change.. Not when I get a bed I can get a

headboard which goes at the 'top' of the bed'
footboard- which goes at the 'bottom

I get a mattress and a boxspring to go with it???

I am really confused at the parts I need for a bed!!

Also, I love the Whitney bed from Pottery Barn but its $850 with delivery and set up and I still need a mattress. Does anyone know whereI can get a nice metal, pewter bed?

We just bought a bed and ordered it online. It was cheapest that way. I couldnt' believe how expensive beds are!!!

We bought a bedstead - which is the entire thing. Headboard, footboard and all the pieces in between to connect them.

I would give you the website, but the company was UK based, which would be just more expensive. If you do a google search, it should turn up a few different companies. We had no problems with ours and it was delivered in perfect condition.

If you like Pottery Barn metal beds, go to their outlet in Riverhead. They usually have a good selection and not that expensive.

We recently got a new mattress from Sleepys. It came with a bed frame, box spring, and the mattress obviously. They also had some nice metal headboards there. I didn't buy one yet because we plan on getting a new bedroom set soon, and I want it to match, but there were a few metal ones that I really liked.

ETA: My SIL works for sleepys so we got a great deal... not sure how their prices compare to other places without her discounts though!

Weilea Antique Pewter Bed

Lincoln Park Contemporary Pewter Bed

These are just for the head/footboard...not the matress or box spring.

We bought a Sealy's mattress and box spring from shopnbc.com - free delivery, removal of old bed, plus it was about 1/2 the price of the same bed at sleepy's. Look for the deals on their website b/c they change from week to week.

We then bought a bed set (including frame, headboard and footboard) from Levitz and although it is BEAUTIFUL and we love it, we had a terrible time getting it delivered...let's just say we ordered it in July and just received it about 2 weeks ago.....

Good luck!

Just a word of advice...when you order a bed from ANYWHERE go out to the truck to take a look at the mattress before you accept the delivery. A friend of my mom's sent hers back about 3 times because she went to inspect it on the truck and there were hairs on it!!! THey have those money-back guarantees where people get to try the mattress out for 60 days or whatever. Well, guess what they do with the ones that people return...
