NO WEDDING FAVORS???

I went to a wedding this past weekend, and the couple didn't give favors. I alwasy thought you should give favors. i wanted to know how many of you are having favors, and how many are not. I think that Favors are great, BUT, it could save me $1000. let me know.. thanks..

I think you can go either way. I have been to weddings both with and without favors.

We are having 2 favors, one nicer per couple (framed photos of us) and then candies for each guest.

We are doing favors, although we are trying to limit ourselves to a budget and a specific amout per favor that we do not want to go over.

We're not either. I'm paying for this expensive dinner, providing an open bar AND music, now I have to give a trinket too?!
Honestly, I cannot remember the favor at the last few weddings I went to.
Most people don't want or need another candy dish, picture frame, etc. It's kinda a waste, and perfectly acceptable to skip, IMO.

we are not giving favors we are supplying noisemakers, hats, tiaras, menus, vienesse hour, transportation too and from hotel and then brunch the next day oh and hotel bags for the guests. for what we are paying for limo service to shuttle we could have bought favors this wedding is costing well over 60 grand already. with two large families it doesnt help we are up to inviting 300 people.

We're donating to an organization in lieu of traditional favors. I don't like favors - I find them annoying and they're never my taste...but that's me. I honestly don't think people would notice if you didn't give a favor - and if they did and actually said something to you? Shame on them - imo. that's just rude to *expect* something.

We are doing donations as our big favor, and then chocolates for each guest.

We are not giving favors because of the cost and we didn't want to spend money on something people will throw away eventually. We might consider a donation if we have the extra money. Do not think it's tacky to NOT give favors....I can't remember ANY of the favors I got in the past EXCEPT the donations that my best friend made.

I think it's one of those things most people won't notice unless someone mentins it.

we did a donation and some with candy.

I think it's only poilte to give a little something. We went to a wedding over the summer and not a thing was given. it was a beach theme, so they could have easily made shell ornaments or something.

I gave little pots of lucky bamboo wedding favors and there were plenty leftover. I'm glad I gave favors but I also feel that people will rarely notice if there aren't any. If money is a serious issue, skip it and apply the money towards more food or better music. GOOD LUCK!

I'm going to give favors, but they sure aren't going to be expensive. I really don't want to go over $4 per favor.

We are doing a donation to the Make-A-Foundation and the Breast Cancer Society in lieu of favors. We thought we could put our money to good use instead of buying something that would be tossed away after a few months.

Being that Im not from this area originally, I apolgozie if this sounds nuts.. but...

I never got the whole 'favors' thing that goes on out here. It seems to be more of a status symbol. 'Look I had this really great wedding, I'm so well off I even got YOU a gift'
The weddings I've been to had cute hand made things on each table but nothing 'special' and not for each person/couple. This is a whole new field for me.

I think it's cute, but favors are WAY at the bottom of my list of wants. It seems stupid to me to give my guests something when Im paying for the wedding myself and yes, feeding them and giving an open bar. I'll probably send Thank Yous to those who attend prehaps in lieu of the 'favor'.

I have a great idea for a favor for my wedding but I'm not willing to spend $500 on something that most will just throw away, stuff away, leave behind or forget about in a few months.

I mean if you guys want to do favors, well I guess that's great, just doesnt make sense to me. I REALLY don't get the charity donation thing at all either. I'm not sure how I'd feel if I got to a wedding and found a scroll saying 'we've donated money in your name to blah blah'. I mean ' gee, thanks, I guess ' It seems weird to me.

Disclaimer: Im an odd ball to say the LEAST. I think of stuff in an off way. I am by no means the know it all of wedding favors, these are just my own personal opinions. Whatever you ladies do will be WONDERFUL!

Well, I am going to do a lot of research on inexpensive, usable favors. Lately, I know people have been using wine corkers as favors, and I think that's something that people wouldn't throw away. I saw one for $3.50 but that seems unoriginal b/c that is one his parents already got from a wedding. Maybe something else that can be of good use.

Don't think you NEED them, but they are nice. You can save money by having candy or inexpensive frames (mine were about $.40 per couple).

I did them but I really don't think that they are necessary. I've been to weddings without them and I didn't even realize it.

we are doing them, they can be very inexpensive such as hershey kisses in tulle(hugs and kisses from new mr and mrs) under 1 each... or 1 each go to dollar store and pick up the wallet sized frames
