NO WEDDING FAVORS???

Original post by JZNCK

I went to a wedding this past weekend, and the couple didn't give favors. I alwasy thought you should give favors. i wanted to know how many of you are having favors, and how many are not. I think that Favors are great, BUT, it could save me $1000. let me know.. thanks..

I think it's a nice gesture but not a huge issue if you skip them
I think some guests expect them so why not give a small candle or some jordan almonds or other candy?
I'm not a fan of the little silver frame that everyone gives out because it's a bit overdone.

I have never cared about favors but like someone said earlier some of us are oddballs that way. I did not want to have them and my sister-in-law thought I was completely crazy - although she didn't say that.

Then someone on here said they were having wine from a local vineyard and that seemed different and something that people might actually use and enjoy. So that's the plan - that is if the ol' budget permits

hi...
i dont want to give favors either. We are reaching the limit of ourbudget and cannot afford/dont wanna spend a fortune on this item. I am thinking if the faovr isnt really nice likea bottle of wine orfancy picture frame, why bother? my MOH was ahocked when she asked what my favor is and i said nothing. She said she is having favors at my shower...i was like oh that is sweet thanks. Why does that mean i need favors atthe wedding..we arehaving a lot of nice things at the wedding already and i dont see how candy or votive candle gifts will thrill people,,,

MY FIANCE AND I HAVE DECIDED TO DONATE MONEY TO THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY IN HONOR OF EACH GUEST AND IN MEMORY OF MY MOM INSTEAD OF FAVORS. WE ARE GIVING EACH GUEST A PINK RIBBON PIN.

You might want to rethink your favors if they cost that much. Ours were about $1 per couple.

we will be handing out favors at our wedding. i feel that is another way to thank our guest for celebrating our big day with us. we will also be sending out thank you cards to every one who gives us a gift.

We of course had wedding favors! Ours were tall personalized shot glasses with our names and wedding date imprinted on the glass.

I'm definately NOT giving wedding favors...I've never kept a single wedding favor...and I've been to MANY MANY weddings,

We feel the money would be more useful donated to a charity. So we are donating to a local animal rescue organization. We'll have a sign that says in lieu of favors, we've made a donation to the ...................

No favors. Donating instead and putting scrolls out on each place settings.

I don't understand? I know I am paying for the 'expensive Dinner' but thats what i wanted. Now I invite people and dont give them a thank you thats just weird at least to me heres why:

1) they are getting dressed up.
2) They are giving you a gift (which they dont have to just like you said you are not giving them.
3) and they came to be a big part of your day.......

enough said if I didn't want to pay for this then i would have just ahd a ceremony and thats it......I don't know I just think its nice ......it doesnt have to be elaborate just well thought out such as donations, or something meaningful....

I WOULD BE UPSET IF they didnt give me a gift so I have to think the same way for them

I AM DEFINITELY NOT DOING IT FOR STATUS ANYONE WHO IS COMING KNOWS ME AND WHAT I AM......

i AM pAYING FOR MY OWN WEDDING AS WELL
I dont mean this in a bad way I just think a little something showing your appreciation that they participated and gave you a gift as well is deserved. Donations is a wonderful idea even if you donate a dollar for every guest you still are donating. I am doing candles as well as a donation because I love my guests and I want them to know that I am thankful, even if they do throw it lol.

I am giving favors, but I want them to be useful not something that collects dust. I am trying to talk my FI into a silver coffee scoop, a small bottle, candy something almost everyone uses or enjoys.

I am giving favors too.. I thought it was strange that the wedding we went to didn't give them. So I thought maybe it wasn't the thing to do anymore.. I actually want to give something I think it's a cute touch... It preference I think.. I also think that the donations is a nice touch..

We will be making a donation in honor of our guests. I think favors are a nice added touch.

Where I come from everyone pretty much covers their plate. So, my attitude is a little different. I don't see it as I am already paying for them to eat. Maybe, it's a NYC thing.

Good luck!
