Re: Not asking this question to be inapropriate but....

If FH has to 'abstain' for a week he's the crankiest, moodiest sob on earth - so no, we won't be abstaining... but I think its a nice idea.

Re: Not asking this question to be inapropriate but....

they did this study I was reading about.... it says most couples don't even end up with a special wedding night - they are too tired, tipsy, etc...

Re: Not asking this question to be inapropriate but....

This is a decision that really only you and your FH can make. I do think that if you wish to abstain for anyreason your FH should respect that decision and honor your wishes.

Re: Not asking this question to be inapropriate but....

once you've done it, there's no going back to abstaining....the wedding night will be special because you got married not because of the s&x, unless you are both virgins...not to mention that you will probably kill each other by the wedding day with all the last-minute wedding planning and no s^x to release the tension

Re: Not asking this question to be inapropriate but....

FI has a big enough problem abstaining once a month for my Aunt Flo. He would DIE if I made him abstain anymore than that

I would like to abstain one month before the wedding, but Betty is right - it'll be super-quick

Re: Not asking this question to be inapropriate but....

We held off for about 3-4 weeks leading up to the wedding. It wasn't easy, but the anticipation for our wedding night was exciting. I don't think it made anything 'more' special, but it was nice to abstain for a bit.

Re: Not asking this question to be inapropriate but....

We tried to abstain, then we fell off then we got back on the wagon, then we fell off, then we abstained for a few weeks before the wedding. Our wedding ended at 6, but the excitement made us not sleep. IMO I don't think abstaining makes it any more special it just builds great anticipation and excitement.

Re: Not asking this question to be inapropriate but....

We are 2 months prior to the wedding. It was our Deacon's suggestion and we kinda liked it so we are doing it. I know 2 people who have done this and said it made the night better for them. So no Boom-boom as of Feb 5th...not even valentine's day or our 5 year anniversay (March 6th).
