Re: $650 dress
600.00 before alterations, I got it at Estelles on rt110, they have a very mellow bridal section in the back. They also give you a list of seamstress's to use. You can see it at www.mcbridals.com carry over style B188.

Re: not to be nosey but....
Good Lord, $4000!!!!
Whooly Mooly!!! Even if I had the money I don't think I could make myself spend that much on a dress I'm wearing once!!! OOF!!! You go girls!
Mine was $700 before alterations. I spent just as much for my veil & tiara so everything came out to be around $1600 with alterations. It's by Jasmine, I bought it at the Bridal Garden in Bethpage, they seem to have good prices, I saw the same dress in a place in Garden City for about $300 more!

Re: not to be nosey but....
Ive said this before but I am always appalled when people feel its just fine to make commentary when someone spends a lot but spending a little is sacred ground. You would never hear 'Wow! I would never spend less than $X on my gown!!' Even though that statement may be true for many of us - we would get reemed for saying it.

Re: not to be nosey but....
$900 including tax and alterations and bussel.I did not try any gown over $1000, I didnt want to fall in love with a gown I couldnt afford OR would not pay. I said to myself from the beginning I am not going to go crazy and I stuck to my guns and I am so happy with my dress. I cant imagine having more dresses to choose from, I had time with the ones under $1000, I liked so many.
good luck on your decision.

Re: not to be nosey but....
True, I always say it's personal preference, we shouldn't bash each other for what we each spend.

Re: not to be nosey but....
Ok, am I missing something? Who was bashing?
(that's my confused face!!)Although I agree that what we spend is a personal preference...I was on a budget, cause my mom insisted on paying for my dress, but she doesn't have a lot of money, so I shopped with her in mind...and still, I LOVE my dress....yey!

Re: not to be nosey but....
No one was bashing ... I was just referring the very obvious double standard. Its okay to say 'wow, I would never spend $5K on a dress because Im only wearing it one day'. Or some version of this. Its not one person in particular who posts this - many people have over my many months of being here.
But NOT okay to say 'wow, you only spent $200 (or whatever amount) on your dress. Aren't you wearing it for your wedding day?'

Re: not to be nosey but....
LOL, Stef !!!
BTW, when I said we shouldn't bash each other, I was not talking about anyone in particular, I was just 'generally' speaking. Maybe 'bash' wasn't the right word. Oops. LOL
(that's me not coming up with a better word, lol)

Re: not to be nosey but....
I don't think anyone meant any harm. Everyone's financial situation is going to vary from one girl to the next. If you can afford it, go for it. If its way over your budget, you really have to think about it and cut back somewhere else.

Re: not to be nosey but....
I am paying about $2000 for everything. I was lucky to get a discount on my gown since a)the store does not carry the sample so they didn't need to recoup that cost and b)I ordered 8 BM gowns from them. They were able to give me about a $600 savings. But I would not hesistant for one minute to buy the gown that you love- unless I honestly could not afford it. I didn't try on any gowns over $2200 because I knew that my parents did not plan on spending over that amount for my outfit. But if they had wanted to spend more, I would have tried on more expensive ones in a heart beat.
