They are beautiful and it's not your fault, you didn't mean for it to turn into a debate...ENJOY THEM!!

Re: So sad
Unfortunately, legally, Stef's work isn't protected by a copyright. THerefore, no permissions was needed for the design to be used by anyone. Whether or not it was ethical is a different issue altogether and one that I can't comment on.

Re: Nothing
Honestly i don't think is crazy at all. Now LA Production can use Curly's sample and sell it to other brides. Is that fair? Stef did ALL of the work and is not being given one dime.
I am sorry that your happiness over your programs has turned into a debate Curly. I believe that you had ONLY good intentions when you posted. But a vendor should have contacted Stefanie and asker her or permission to use her orginal design work.

Re: Nothing
But if they aren't copyrighted how does anyone know? And when you post something isn't it for the public to see and use if they want to duplicate it? Did Laura from LA Prod. know?

Re: Nothing
PS-Anyone can do the placecards, as well as a vendor, and they were Martha Stewarts idea.
Not starting an argument. Just statingmy thoughts.

Are these programs copyrighted? If they are not, permission is not required.

Re: Nothing
Martha Stewart prints a magazine to share ideas. You pay for the magazine- it is not free. Her business is SHARING ideas. It is the same as watching Trading Spaces or any other HGTV type show. The sole purpose is for you to COPY ideas. Stef isn't mad that a BRIDE replicated her design work. She is upset that a vendor made money by using her design work. There is a difference. LA Productions sent me bridal shower invite samples. Would it have been fair for Stef to just copy it for me? Laura's stuff is not copyrighted either. So, think about that situation.

Re: Nothing
That is only if the vendor knew....everyone is assuming the vendor knew that Stef designed the programs.... I am sure it was as simple as Curly saying 'I really love this and want to try and get as close to it as possible' and the vendor just trying to make her client happy....
I understand Stef wanting credit where credit is due...I guess I would too - but I don't think anyone is 'at fault' here....

Re: Nothing
I already told Steph about copyright..
This Vendor is wrong. She should have used her OWN ideas and not one of someone on here. I would never thought that this could happen..
A Bride was sharing for others to do..
A Vendor made $$ off of someones ideas... Wrong.
Stephanie should get a kick back if her idea is used.

Re: Nothing
This is an ethical issue. This vendor frequents these boards quite a bit, and I would be very surprised if she hadn't seen them prior to Curly asking her to do them. Granted, there may not be much Stef can do now, but it still doesn't make it right that someone that posts frequently on this site as a vendor has profited off of the creation of a bride that frequents this site. I'm certain that Stef knows that her designs are up for grabs because she has posted them as a service on her own website, but I think any of us would be upset if someone on this site profited from something we worked so hard on.
This has absolutely nothing to do with Curly, and this should not be exhausted here. If anything, the rest of this should be taken up with Laura from LA Productions, and Stef.

Re: Nothing
Who said it was the brides fault..
Its not..
But the Vendor is now in the WRONG and she should give Steph a kickback.

Re: Nothing
I wasn't aware that the vendor frequented this site and could have seen them ahead of time....
And I wasn't saying the bride was at fault....just saying I didn't think anyone was....
Like I said - I think Stef should get credit for her designs...
She should definitely take it up with the vendor.

Re: Nothing
The simple fact is that legally the vendor does not have to give Stef any money. I'm not saying that ethically that's right, it's just the law.

Re: Nothing
I think we all might be over-thinking this a little. We don't know if Laura even knew it was Stef's idea. Curly flat-out said they didn't use Stef's template. It sounds like Curly showed Laura a pic and Laura built something from there. I don't know if anybody is 'at fault'.
