NWR: Disgusted

Original post by smplynluv

So fh had to kick out his first floor tenant (a mom with 4 kids) and we went about it the right way and gave her 30 days (til end of Oct.). FH is gonna be fixing it up so we can move in there before the wedding. Not only did she refuse to pay the month (told us to keep the deposit insead) she left the place an absolute mess. No real damage but she left clothing, garbage, cigarette butts, food, and even a dirty diaper EVERYWHERE! There is no exageration here, its a pig sty. I don't know what her kids are walking around in cuz it looks like she left their whole wardrobe all over the house. She left a whole bunch of crap all over the front yard, left all the windows and doors open with the heat blasting (FH pays the heat). But since there's no damage (aside from a cabinet door off the hinge), we can't sue her or anything. She knew exactly what she was doing. We were supposed to meet up last sunday so she could give us the key (she said she was ready to leave) but never called and isn't picking up our calls. We just went there last night since its November already. Does anyone know what we can do?? If we can do anything at all??

Sorry so long but we are beyond disgusted with this lady.

I feel bad for you. I think that is why when i was looking for apartments everyone was asking for two months or a month and half and you couldn't use the last month as rent.

OK guys..... I just got off the phone with FH. We are going to change the locks tomorrow. Also, we are going to throw everything in the house out. I just need to double check the contract because I beleive that it says if she abandons the house anytime during the agreeement, whatever she leaves we are not liable for. Fh just doesn't ever wanna see her again and just wants to fix up the house as soon as he can to forget her and all the problems and headaches she's given us since she's been here.....

I would say change the locks, clean it up and move on and be glad she is out!!!! I don't really thing there is anything else you can do besides wash your hands of her ( you said there was no additional damage- just left in a total disrespectful state). Unfortunately, I think this comes along with the territory of being a landlord at times. I feel bad for her kids.....

Have fun renovating and just think how much more positive it will be with her gone!!!

You're right. That seems to be the stress free way to go about it and this problem is the last thing I need to keep worrying about during wedding planning and the holidays comming up. THanks for your support

But see, we've been trying to call her and she just won't pick up or return the call. This is us trying to ask her what the hell all this stuff is and if she'll need it. No responces, I mean, anyone can check the phone records and see that we've called her. It's just rude altogether and we'll need to use soo many boxes and waste our time when she told us she was out by last sunday. I dunno... I feel like we've given her chances to take all her stuff out and this is what she does. Oh great, now i'm bitter...
