I'm looking high and low for a dj and a videographer. We got engaged over a year ago and I thought I had all this time... I'm now thinking I wasted so much time
OctBride03 where are you in the planning stages?

Re: October 03 Brides.......
Hi Ladies,
Happy to report I can check something else off the list - BM dresses. We went to Cathy's in Lindenhurst this Saturday. I went with separates, as the odds of one of my BM's being pregnant is pretty high. We went with the Bridal Impressions line in a mocha color. My original goal was to pick out 3-4 tops and have the girls choose whatever they liked the best, but they all liked the one on the left (top & belt both in mocha). Wahoo!!! Always feels good to check something else off the list.
CONGRATS on finding BM's dresses! Lucky you to have a bridal party that agrees! The dress is beautiful!!!
I'm kind of in a slump in my planning right now I need to get myself back on a roll! Hopefully I'll get myself back into it AFTER I speak with my girlfriend tonight. I need to smooth things over big time with her!
Anyway, congrats again!

Re: October 03 Brides.......
Congrats on the dresses- they're gorgeous! I'm going sometime this week to look- I'm now considering that family of colors as well- I really like the mocha.
Octbride03- good luck tonight speaking w/ your friend. I'm sure it'll all work out. Then you'll be back to you ol' self, planning away w/ the rest of us. Did you block off more rooms?

Re: October 03 Brides.......
I was racking my brain trying to find a color that would complement sunflowers in the bouquets. The mocha looked really good with a fall bouquet next to it, so that sealed it. Never thought the girls would all agree on a top, so I psyched about that also.
Keep us posted on how things go with your girlfriend!!!!
Good Luck!!

You've got time. Settle things with your friend first, that way, it'll still all be enjoyable and fun Good luck.

Re: October 03 Brides.......
Octbride03- I'm so happy for you! Those types of situations are always so stressful. I'm so glad it worked out for you and your friend.
It went well with Glen! I really liked him and saw the video he showed. FH couldn't make it with me, so I need to talk to him and see who we're going to go with. It's such a hard decision to make. I really liked Burke as well, but I'm weary on the fact that you can't hear an example of what they sound like, and no one else has used them on this board. Their price however, is a few 100 less..... so...... decisions decisions...
What are some of the things you girls are taking into consideration to determine your honeymoon destination?
I'm making the appointment today to go see BM dresses as well. How sad that none of my BM's lives w/ in 5miles of me- so I have to go alone and try them on myself- I'm a little bummed about that.

Re: October 03 Brides.......
Thanks! I know one of the toughest decisions is the type of entertainment you choose for your reception. I was making myself nuts. I went to see a band twice before I decided to go with them. I'm sure whatever you choose will be perfect! If you like Burke and they are within your budget, I say go with them, regardless of whether people on this board used them or not. However, I'm a little skeptical about you not being able to hear what they sound like. Maybe you can find out if they have showcases and sneak to one That's what I would do! Definately try to hear them!
I'm sorry you have to go BM dress shopping alone Don't make yourself crazy the first night going. Why don't you try Macy's in Manhasset. Are you near there? The girl I dealt with was VERY helpful! Her name is Diana. There is also a Bridal Salon in the Macys in the Smith Haven mall. Good luck!
Here is a pic of the gown I chose for my BM's.

Re: October 03 Brides.......
I can't figure how to post to pics! Here is the pic of the dress.
Thanks! Burke said they usually do Corp. functions and Country Clubs- so.... I don't know, I'd almost want to spend the extra $$ to be comfortable being that I can't hear them. They did seem extremely organized though. (Is it wrong though, one of them- and it would be both of them at the wedding- didn't , oh, the wording I'm looking for??? seem like I'd like her personality at the wedding? Does that make sense?)
The dresses are gorgeous! I love the color, style- everything about them! Are you having both style tops?
New question for us Oct. brides? Are you giving out favors? Here's my situation- I don't wish to give out favors. I'd rather give a donation to a charity for a cancer research. My Mom has faught breast cancer and just finished Chemo for ovarian cancer! 2 of FH grandparents died from cancer and my Grandmother has just been diagnosed with Lung Cancer. My point is... I'd rather try to help other people suffering, I feel that every little bit counts. Except when FMIL asked me the other night if I was giving favors and what I was thinking- she looked so disappointed that I don't have intentions of giving them out. I'm taking this a little personally considering she knows my Mom's situation and my Grandmother, and it was her parents who passed away. What do you guys think? Thanks for listening....

Re: October 03 Brides.......
Hi, thank you. We are using just the strapless one. The other dress is the color. Kinda wanted to give you guys the picture
As for your favors, I think what you want to do is a wonderful and meaningful idea. Don't worry about FMIL. If you and FH feel that is what you want to do and you feel strongly about it, then go with a donation. A lot of brides do that. I know there is a way to put some kind of saying on the tables so that guests do not expect anything at the end. Something like, In lieu of favors, we decided to donate to (name of charity) hoping to help those in need. Something like that, but a lot of people do that so don't feel it's the wrong thing to do. You FMIL should understand. Good luck. It's your day so whatever you choose will be right.
As for the honeymoon question you asked before. I am taking into consideration the weather. Since Oct. is hurricane season. However, I think we are just going to chance the Bahamas. I am also looking into all-inclusive which is hard to find other than Sandals. And I'm also taking into consideration the flight distance. I think that's all. I hope I helped.

Re: October 03 Brides.......
Thanks! I do want to do what I want to, ya know? FH really doesn't have an opinion either way. I guess I just don't understand why FMIL can't just say, that would be nice, and leave it at that. I realize everyone has an opinion- I'm just getting tired of hearing all of them- negative- and the 'I would do it this way'.. ugh. Ok, sorry for the vent.
Aruba is an option b/c of the weather. I was wondering if anyone was more concerned w/ the agenda of what's to do (although I know what we'd all be doing on our honeymoons ) We're not so much night life people where we'd want to go to a club. We just want to relax, be on the beach, and do a lot of water things and have a nice time. I think Beaches also has an all-inclusive plan.. or, you'd be surprised to call and ask about all-inclusive at any hotel. I know a bunch of them offer a 'plan'. We went to Cancun and stayed at the Oasis w/ the A-I plan. hope that helps.
Love the strapless! It's gorgeous! Does your dress have straps?

I hope everything works out for you!
No my gown is strapless too, sweetheart neck on mine though. The sexy mama that I am! heehee!
Anyway, about honeymoon. We are very relaxed as well. I am not really about what kind of agenda is offered. I mean a few water sports and we'll be fine The weather is what's bugging us, but we're just going to chance the Bahamas. What did you have in mind?

Re: October 03 Brides.......
The weather being most important. We just want to relax- enjoy the beach/drinks and have fun. We do like the water - snorkling/jet skiing - but I've heard a few people talking about planning a 'night life'- I was just wondering what other people were thinking? I'm thinking we can plan a nice night life right in the room I think you'll be fine in the Bahamas. One of the girls I work with went there the last weekend of Sept., also hurricane season, and she had the best weather! It look gorgeous w/ all the lagoons. Where in Bahamas are you looking into?
I'm getting strapless as well. The dress (posted) has straps, but I went to try on so many and I loved the strapless look. (Working on the body to go with it)

Re: October 03 Brides.......
mv1003, you had me chuckling with your 'working on the body' comment! I know EXACTLY what you mean! I NEVER thought I would go with strapless considering how uncomfortable I am with the way I look! But I have faith in myself! I loaded up on Pilates and Zumba videos! So we'll see!!!
You mentioned you had a dress posted of what yours looks like. Where is it??? I don't seem to see it anywhere
I'm glad to hear someone had nice weather in Sept. in the Bahamas. I guess it's pretty much a hit or miss situation. We are not night life people either! A night at a quiet bar is good for us!! Where are you considering? I hear St. Lucia is amazing!!!!
Question for you gals: I have a rather large bridal party and want to have my MOH stand out a little. I don't want her to get lost in the crowd. My color is wine (exact color is posted on this thread), what do you think if she wore the same dress in champagne? She tried it on the other day and it didn't look bad. My flower girls are actually in champagney color dresses and I thought it might brighten it up if she were in that color too! What do you think?? I thought it was kind of cute too, that my colors are Wine and Champagne - well I got a kick out of it! heehee! Thanks!

Re: October 03 Brides.......
Octbride03- my dress is on this thred (pg.2?) I'm not doing the straps and the beading will be different, but I love the flow of it. Pilates, kickboxing- anything- you name it, I'm trying it. I belong to NY sports club and started taking cardio kickboxing- I love it! It was hard at first, but I'm getting into now.
I think you're idea of the champagne for your MOH is a great idea! Or, the other thing I'm seeing a lot of girls doing is getting the same color, just a different style? I like the same style though, my personal opinion. I think I'm going to have them all in the same dress, just have her boq. a little different. That could change though as I really start looking at the dresses.
Ok- so spoke to FH last night. Now he wants favors. It's not the end of the world, I just know that he's changing his mind b/c his Mother questioned why we weren't doing them? I'm a little bummed that FI changed his mind on something we had decided a long time ago.

Re: October 03 Brides.......
OH DUH!!! I remember your gown now! I love it!!! I think it looks so soft and flowy!! Good choice!!!
Let's see for your favor situation. Hmmm.... Favors don't need to cost an arm and a leg. Maybe you can do both?? Like what if you gave out those candy bars that has your names and date on it and some kind of thank you mentioned on it and attach a tag that mentions that you gave a donation to whatever foundation it is you were looking to donate to. Does that help? I will continue to think. But this way the guests know the wonderful thing you did and at the same time you are giving them a little token of thanks. Let me know what you think about that... then I can search for you on what you can do! Good luck!
