Re: October Girls Update

Hi Ladies!!!

This weekend (not really wedding related) we got our COUCHES! Now the living room looks like a living room. We ordered end tables, coffee tables and a dresser for the bedroom. It's so wierd when they say to you, 'Oh that will be in around October 2nd' HOLY CRAP that's in like 2 1/2 weeks!!!

As for wedding planning...working on RD invitations/reminders, bows to be attached to the bells, we ordered our engagment shots from Proline (should be ready next week), ordered toasting flutes Sunday. Our rings were engraved and ready for pickup so we got them yesterday, they look so pretty!

Good heavens only 40 days left

Re: October Girls Update

OK, I'm joining all you October brides. I've been reading but not posting.

I had my shower this weekend. It was great. Sort of surprised they had it on the 11th, but it was nice to be happy for once on the 11th. It went by so fast and I was such a nervous wreck before because I knew it was Saturday but part of me was unsure. Our families did a great job of finding alibi's for all of them on Saturday. I wonder that that is just a preview of how the wedding will go. Like a blip. But, I have some great friends and I got so much great stuff.

There's so much to do.

We also bought a house and I also am in grad school and I'm getting a kick out of the fact that we all have so much in common.

Had my hair trial yesterday, it came out great. Thank goodness.

When is or did everyone pick their menu. I haven't done that yet. Shouldn't i have. Tried calling caterer today, but realized no one works in that business on Mondays.

OMG Welcome!!

You should prolly make your menu about 6 weeks in advance, so this week would probably be the time....I did mine last week....

This time is soo exciting and you will find that before you know it, LIW will be your best friend!! Enjoy!

Re: October Girls Update

I have my second fitting today!

I think I ate too much & over the weekend though.

So far only 4 people didn't respond. 2 did said yes verbally, one is verbally said maybe, ( she is waiting on a babysitter) & one hasn't said a damn thinng. (FMIL's coworker)
We are assuming no for her.

And I think FILs
finally picked a rehearsal diner restauarant. (The Maine Maid Inn)

Re: October Girls Update

Well, I am very nervous because I just had a hair trial, and FI said he didn't like it. I like it, and I'm thinking of just going with it, but I am also afraid my veil will flatten it (I am wearing it down and curly). My veil is very long and I have not picked it up yet because the seamstress is sewing in the comb still, so I have not been able to take it to my hair trial. If I change the hairstyle now, I don't know how I'd wear it. The only thing I can think of is just pushing clipping one side up, which the stylist suggested to keep this one piece out of my face.

We still need to order FI's wedding band, and he works so much he can never find the time to get to the jeweler. I also need jewelry, bridesmaid gifts, and a pocketbook.

I seriously can't believe the wedding is so close. Where did the time go?

ETA: I am also still waiting for many responses and the response date was Friday.

Re: October Girls Update

Hello and welcome to the new October brides who haven't posted before

I wanted to ask you ladies when you began your seating arrangements and place cards. My RSVP date is the 20th and that's Monday. I don't know if I should put together a seating chart before I get all responses back.

What do you think

Ditto on eating too much & this weekend

Re: October Girls Update

I started a seating chart when the invites went out. I did it in illustrator (a graphics program)

There is a circle to represent each table, and each guest has a moveable text box with their name in it.

I did preliminary groupings of guests, ( I just dragged the name over the table) and as the RSVP's came in we made adjustments.

It was very easy this way because I can just move the names around and save it.

I also made a 'key' so that tables with fewer than 10 people were red, 10 was blue, 11 was pink and 12 was green. that made it easier to see where I can add someone, and where we needed more.

FH thinks I am a dork, but it really is working nicely. We have one issue of a ladie and her two sons (and one of their wives) and we just can't find them a spot. There are no tables that can make a reasonable amount of room for 4 more. We'll see LOL

Re: October Girls Update

we went to pick out our menu tonight. it was fun...i picked out my cake...marble with canoli filling...

we had our first dance lesson too...it was a lot of fun.

nwr- i painted one of the rooms in my house today, and it turned out pretty good, but i am pooped.

i need to start doing the seating arrangements, and my fi family really needs to start respnding to this wedding.

i have a little over half of my responses and my date is the 23. i was doing really well for a while, but now it has slowed lots.

Re: October Girls Update

So here it is September 15th, my RSVP date was Sept. 9th and I am still receiving 4-5 responses a day. Can you believe it? OH well you can't control the way other people do their things.

Oh a lighter note, working on programs now and finalizing all details with all my vendors. Calling the photog today and finishing table assignments.

Re: October Girls Update

NWR: With all the wedding stress, just found out that the company I work for is moving my department from NYC to NJ. Now I have to take a voluntary severance package. Probably keep my job until February 2005.

I guess it's time to get a job on LI>

WR: My caterer still hasn't called me back and my seamstress hasn't called me back either. need to pick my food and arrange for my final dress fitting.

Re: October Girls Update

i'm sad today was the first day i got no responses. my fi is so mad at his whole family because barely any have responded. i keep telling him that they are trying to figure out what they are doing with the kids. his nieces and nephews were invited and it is up to the parents to decide.

oh well...his mom is going to have a lot of phone calls to make.

Re: October Girls Update

OOOH I like that idea! I bought two big posterboards and post-its and gave one to my FMIL and kept one at home - we'll use the post-its to figure out where everyone will be seated...but I'm thinking I like the Illustrator/online idea better- thanks!

Re: October Girls Update

Why wont the NO's send in their responses already. My deadline is not until the 29th but they keep talking to us as if they don't know. They know they are not coming, it would help me breathe better knowing we wont be packed into the hall.

Plus FI keeps wanting to add more people and he knows we have no room. I don't want to be a *****, but I do not want to hear it for the rest of our lives.

We have our first dance lesson on Sunday am (I know it's a bit late, but maybe I can get FI to stop stepping on me for the video).

Thanks for letting me vent.
