Just a thought but I think it would be really cute if we had an Italian brides GTG sometime in the future. we could maybe go eat somewhere in Little Italy and go for dessert at Ferrara's - we'd make it an italian themed night How many of you girls would be interested in something like that?

I'm glad a lot of you like the idea - i was thinking sometime in May because April is a little busy with Easter and everything. what night would be better for everyone friday or saturday?

Anyone ever heard of this???

I was at a shower this weekend and the bride received a knife set. She handed the person who gave it to her some coins. She said it was a Sicilian Tradition (bad luck or something) Is this true? I come from Sicilian family and I have never heard of this!!! Strange!

they say if someone gives you knives you need to give them a penny as getting knives is bad luck or something

Oh yes I heard of the knives thingy

if you give someone a needle you have to also give a coin..........

I guess if it came in a sewing kit? I've seen sewing kits given as gifts, but never as a gift on their own.

Oh, I would be up for the GTG, but I live in NJ...so, NYC would probably be a better meeting up location for me.....

And, I think I broke every nail opening up those Crate and Barrel boxes at my shower (without a knife)

YES!!! I heard of it - I am sicilian - but I think its a napolitan tradition - bc my Fh's family does it ... I gave my mom a knife set - and FH was like she has to give you a penny!!! and i was like and why??? also - whenever he buys me a bag - he gives it to me with money in it (a couple of dollars, or coins) so that 'I will always have money')
I never heard of these traditions .. so i guess they are from naples!!
